seroquel for bipolar 2

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have been on Seroquel 200 mg for approx one year. Since being on the med I have experienced extreme forgetfulness. My short term memory is especially affected and it's getting progressively worse. I don't think forgetfulness is listed as a side effect of Seroquel. I was wondering if anyone else on this med has experienced the same.

Right now your Seroquel is an antihistamine. I just looked at the pi sheet, and the target dose for bipolar depression is 300 mg, where it should be less sedating than lower doses (the crazymeds.us wiki says above 200 mg is the cutoff for that one). 400-800 mg for mania. It's off label to use risperidone for the depressive side of bipolar, but if anything, you'd want to increase it, not decrease it. A Seroquel increase is probably a better thing to try first.

ve been having more severe mood swings than usual--a couple of weeks ago I broke down into tears and sobbed for 2 hours because I was watching my favorite TV show and it made me remember something upsetting. My doctor seemed to think that the Lamictal was more of the problem, however, and upped my Seroquel dosage. How long have you been taking the medications? how does this help for your bipolar..im on the hi end of bipolar..but not like really super hyper!! was on serquil to help me..had to stop it was causing my heart rate to go way up.........please explain??

My Dad diagnosed schizophrenic 46 years ago has deteriorated over last 4 years and has been told that he never had schizophrenia that he has bipolar disorder. He has not has psychosis for 36 years always on different meds. HE is making my mothers life hell she is a saint and his full time carer, he is so full of ANGER and taking it out on her. Is that depression? or what is it. What medication would help with this. HE is on high dose epilim and lower dose of Seroquel together.

I have been told twice I was bipolar 2 I have no idea what this means when I go to a psychiatris I never go pass the evaluation I guess my anxieties get the best of me!!

but I was not aware of the largest dose of seroquel was 800... I have tried so many different meds for bipolar and this was the first one to start helping me... mixed with the other one that is... Clonazepam and it is only .5mg.

I have Bipolar 2 and PMDD. I switched from Geodon to Lamictal in December 2010. Since that point, my depression has greatly improved and I feel like my old self. But, ever since I began Lamictal, the Lexapro that controlled the PMDD issue for years, stopped working. I'm now having severe PMDD issues every month. My doctor switched me from Lexapro to Viibryd a week ago. I am experiencing increased appetite, gastrointestinal distress, and can't sleep.

I personally take Lamicatl Welbutrin Trazodone Seroquel These are my bipolar meds all though I do have physical health problems that I also take meds for. Do you have an anxiety disorder as well? I take the seroquel and trazodone for sleep and it works well. I hope this helps.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Type 2 last year and after trying a million meds, my perfect cocktail was Pexeva 20 mg, Lithium 300 mg and Seroquel 300 mg. I was happier than I had ever been, but the Seroquel caused major weight gain and major sleepiness-I was falling asleeo at work. I went off Seroquel and tried Abilify and one other (cant remember) but they did not work. I am now backon Seroquel 300 miligrams along with my Lithium and Pexeva.

My daughter has been taking medication for bipolar disorder for about a year ( she was taking depakote 500 mg). She was starting have nightmare regarding death, and her medication was changed to seroquel. About 3 to 4 weeks after starting seroquel she had a seizure ( 1 at home and 2 in the hospital). She was taken off the seroquel and but on Lamitcal and has had 5 more seizures. Is her bipolar disorder causing the seizures?

Seroquel is one of the 'atypical antipsychotics' that came out about ten years ago. They were first used for serious mental illness like schizophrenia, and then for bipolar disorder, and then for the thing we 'call' bipolar in children, that really isn't bipolar disorder.

Okay so my name is Cynthia and I was recently diagnosed for bipolar/ mania in oct 2009. Here is what I am taking Depakote 500 mg morning and at night seroquel 100 mg 2 at night and one in morning risperdone 2mg 1 morning 2 at night So basically my story in a lumpshell, I was hospitilized in november after losing my baby to a chromosome defect. They labeled me as having a nervous breakdown. I was in there for fourteen days.

Seroquel isn't an antidepressant like others, it's for bipolar sufferers. Brintellix is still another ssri. Really different meds here. Are you bipolar?

i took 2 pills of lithium and i had serious insomnia for 2 days, intolerable, dry mouth,...the usual. i thought of depakote again the side effects are inflicting upon the liver instead of the kidneys. many times i read about seroquel monotherapy, not only from astra zeneca. Some here used it for that purpose. So i need to know if it's effective. Of course there are side effcects but not more than the above ones. my question does it really help in depression.

do they help the manic state,,and mania thoughts?? i was on seraquil for 2 yrs it helped me sleep good but not really nothing threw the day on it..i cant take it anymore due to raise in heart rate..please help me in any way you can??

I have cronic insomnia and my phychiatrist put me on seroquel for this pregnancy. I am 33 weeks and have been using seroquel during the whole pregnancy. Ok i've now been on seroquel for about 1 month started at 50mg went to and 100mg and now i'm at 125mg i don't really notice anything different then when i was taking 50mg. my pysch prescribed it severe insomnia and maybe bipolar i've been seeing him for almost 3 1/2 months and still no real diagnosis. Also i take clonazepam and things are still the same. I just lost, confused and tired. Just wanted to if anyone ever experience the same thing while taking these meds?

im taking seroquel xr for bipolar but i seem to have anxiety now. socail anxiety.. could i be miss diagnosed? should i stop taking the wellbutrin for depression and increase my dosage of seroquel xr to 300-400mg?

I am bipolar type 1 but I took Seroquel for about a year.

The more I up my mood I sleep better and more calm. I use seroquel for up to 2 years to control my mania without affecting more or less my mood, so i don't an AD any more in 10 years. What irritates me is that I take 150 of seroquel. I add 1 risperidone. Actually they are equivalent; for each 1mg of the latter is equivalent to 100mg of the former. My problem is that I wish to reduce my seroquel a bit but each time I do this I have mixed states.
