Avatar f tn Seroquel is one of the 'atypical antipsychotics' that came out about ten years ago. They were first used for serious mental illness like schizophrenia, and then for bipolar disorder, and then for the thing we 'call' bipolar in children, that really isn't bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn No bipolar disorder doesn't cause seizures and Lamictal and Depakoate are actually anti-convulsants. However, some medications as an adverse side effect can cause seizures. She needs to see a neurologist and get an EEG to determine the cause of the seizures. If it comes from one of the medications they can change it to another in the same class.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hi there - Thanks for the suggestion. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication, so feel free to use the anti-psychotic meds value on the tracker to track your use of Seroquel.
1305767 tn?1361192676 I hope that your doctor asked you many more questions to determine if you had bipolar disorder than just about racing thoughts. Bipolar disorder cannot and should not be diagnosed only on the basis of that. The three FDA-approved uses for Seroquel are for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and together with antidepressants in Major Depressive Disorder. I do know it is sometimes prescribed for people with the above disorders who have trouble sleeping, as it knocks you out pretty effectively.
Avatar m tn I don't know...do you mean seroquel? That's an antipsychotic that helps with bipolar disorder.
Avatar n tn im taking seroquel xr for bipolar but i seem to have anxiety now. socail anxiety.. could i be miss diagnosed? should i stop taking the wellbutrin for depression and increase my dosage of seroquel xr to 300-400mg?
Avatar f tn I too am bipolar and on seroquel. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic. Please don't let that word "psychotic" make you upset all though I admit it does kind of stink. I also take Lamtrogine or Lamictal. I've been on tegretal and it worked for a long time for me. There are so many out there. I personally take Lamicatl Welbutrin Trazodone Seroquel These are my bipolar meds all though I do have physical health problems that I also take meds for.
Avatar m tn SEROQUEL is approved to treat the depressive episodes and the acute manic episodes in bipolar disorder and to treat schizophrenia. SEROQUEL XR is a once daily tablet approved only to treat schizophrenia Antidepressants have increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and actions in some children, teenagers, and young adults.
1055770 tn?1254235776 From what I understand Bipolar Disorder's mood swings and phases can cause things like this such as when you're manic and angry you might be impulsive and act on your anger in ways without even thinking about it. As for predicting things, I don't know maybe you're just getting lucky or the spirit of Nostradamus is possessing you or something.
459981 tn?1212193981 so i was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder a little over a month ago and have been taking seroquel which made me worse than ever and it has been my family doctors recomendation to fire the psychiatrist and stop taking the seroquel and get back on an ssri medication. has anyone had this happen? my psychiatrist seemed very uneducated but most importantly would not listen to me about how this medication was affecting my body and just kept telling me to take more and more... Im confused.
574118 tn?1305135284 //www.psychiatrictimes.com/bipolar-disorder/content/article/10168/46826. It put the ends at MDD and Bipolar I... schizophrenia was not mentioned. Schizophrenia is not a mood disorder and will not be included in bipolar spectrum disorder, should that ever come to pass. The spectrum refers to sub-threshold bipolar within the MDD-BP I range. I googled wave theory bipolar and the ONLY thing in psychiatry I found was your post. All other entries were about engineering.

Avatar f tn Except with my first I was off my Seroquel during the first trimester. I have bipolar 1 with psychosis, so when I went off my medicine I went into the hospital for 6 weeks. It was an awful time being pregnant and being in the hospital for so long. I refused medication and ended up spending alot of my hospital time in the isolation room. I had hallucinations that aliens were taking my baby out of me. My son did not have any birth defects, but he was developmentally delayed.
Avatar f tn s possible to have an anxiety disorder along with bipolar disorder. Why were you in the hospital in the first place? Did she diagnose you as BP I or BP II? It might help for you to do some reading on the different types of bipolar, especially manic, hypomanic, and mixed symptoms. Seroquel is for bipolar.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have been on Seroquel 200 mg for approx one year. Since being on the med I have experienced extreme forgetfulness. My short term memory is especially affected and it's getting progressively worse. I don't think forgetfulness is listed as a side effect of Seroquel. I was wondering if anyone else on this med has experienced the same.
Avatar n tn The only way to be diagnosed is to see a psychiatrist and be assessed. There are many drugs used to treat bipolar disorder. Some are Seroquel, Abilify, Lithium, and Risperdal, though there are many more. Depression is just being down and sometimes having a normal time between periods of depression. Bipolar disorder has depressive episodes but also hypomanic or manic episodes. I would suggest going to NAMI.org for more information.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PTSD and mood disorder. I am on a host of drugs that leave me zombie-like. I am taking Lamictal, Seroquel, Klonopin, Trazadone and Lithium. My Lithium dosage is 1050 mg a day. I am so tired and the weight gain and hair falling out are just two of the most troubling symptoms. My dr. doesn't even want me on an anti-depressant which I think will help. I am missing the occasional glass of wine. Do you think it is okay to have one while on these meds?
Avatar f tn What are some of the medications usually prescribed for bipolar disorder?? I've been taking Trileptal 300mg and Lexapro 10mg for over six years now and I did well for a while but about seven months ago started loosing my grip on the situation again. Please reply!
Avatar n tn I have never heard of anyone either having hallucinations CAUSED by seroquel. It is most likely as result of your illness. You never say WHY you're taking the Seroquel & Lamictal. Usually those 2 are prescribed for bipolar disorder which CAN cause hallucinations. I would go to the dr. If you are having side effects from the meds such as body contortions, this could be a sign of Tardive Dyskinesia, which can be held at bay by meds like Cogentin or Artane.
Avatar m tn Can anyone share if they also been diagnosed with a Bipolar Depression or with a Mood Disorder ? I believe that its more over BiPolar/Mood Disorder then anything else.
2010625 tn?1329372056 hi i take seroquel xr and normal seroquel for bipolar disorder. the seroquel xr is a slow release tablet so it works over the night and the day. so i take the seroquel xr 450mg at about 7.30pm then at about 9.30pm i take the normal seroquel 250mg. it helps with sleep too.
459981 tn?1212193981 i know its late at night but i am hoping that there are some people on tat can talk with me. i have been prescribed seroquel for bipolar 2 disorder and i have not begun taking it yet because frankly i am just scared of not knowing what to expect. is there anyone who has or is talikng this medication that can talk with me about positive or negative experiences with it? i would be most grateful.
574118 tn?1305135284 It was complex for myself as a person with schizoaffective disorder or people I knew with bipolar with psychotic features as there a mood stabilizer and an antipsychotic was neccessary. With straight bipolar Seroquel being an FDA approved mood stabilizer should work at a therapeutic dose. You can see if at a proper dose you can tolerate the akathesia. Akineton does work but it is one of many side effect pills. You can see if it works for you.
Avatar f tn My Dad diagnosed schizophrenic 46 years ago has deteriorated over last 4 years and has been told that he never had schizophrenia that he has bipolar disorder. He has not has psychosis for 36 years always on different meds. HE is making my mothers life hell she is a saint and his full time carer, he is so full of ANGER and taking it out on her. Is that depression? or what is it. What medication would help with this. HE is on high dose epilim and lower dose of Seroquel together.
Avatar f tn Holiday blues can affect anyone, especially people with things like bipolar disorder. Depressive episodes I don't think are required for bipolar disorder 1 to be diagnosed and only mania is required but they frequently occur. With psychotic features just means you experience psychotic symptoms when manic and/or depressed but particularly while manic.
Avatar f tn re aware you are on the bipolar forum. The people who come here have bipolar disorder or a friend or family member that has bipolar disorder and they're looking for help.
1115572 tn?1258804496 I am on Seroquel for Bipolar Disorder. Had 3 eye examinations, one of them at a community health check which said I have cataract and need operation. Second examination at specialist eye hospital - see no cataract. Third examination - slight cataract. I am 60 and the doctor at the eye hospital (before he came up with a verdict of "see no cataract" commented - cataract at 60? What is going on in this world? My father was diabetic which probably contributed to a stroke.
