Seroquel and neurotransmitters

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and neurotransmitters

seroquel

Avatar m tn I am sleeping maybe every 3 nights, but the nights I do not sleep and take the seroquel; I feel really weird and think it is making me go crazy. I do not know if I should decrease the seroquel? When is this nightmare going to be over for me? I want to be able to sleep normally, I want to feel normal again and I do not want to feel like I am on this emotional rollocoaster. I think my neurotransmitters and equalibrium are going hay wire. Is my brain going to heal?
Avatar f tn Vivid dreams are often reported by Seroquel users and it is mainly due to it's influence of the REM sleep. The combination of Seroquel and Abilify will definitely have an effect on your sleep patterns and REM sleep and therefore this is why you experiences more recalled dreams. Any drugs that have an influence on the monoamines neurotransmitters like the drugs you are taking could result in disturbed sleep pattern and more dreams.
Avatar f tn For your symptoms i believe the GABA, glutamate, norepinephrine and serotonin neurotransmitters are the cause. The GABA neurotransmitter regulates norepinephrine, adrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin, it is a significant mood modulator. High level of glutamate could lead to depression and OCD. High levels of norepinephrine is linked to anxiety and stress and low levels to fatigue. Finally a lack of serotonin could cause all the symptoms mentioned above.
534105 tn?1226157177 Clonazepam is classified as an addictive drug and controlled substance. Seroquel isn't. I"m not sure why your doctor wants you to take seroquel -- you don't say why here. This is a drug intended for a limited purpose that was marketed illegally for all kinds of things, mostly for sleep because an unwanted side effect of it is a lot of sedation. You'd probably find quantitatively more problems quitting clonazepam, as it's one of the hardest of brain drugs to stop taking.
574118 tn?1305135284 it occurred to me that seroquel is frying my brain and changes it. I take risperidone 1mg and another AP (typical) 1mg. If i cut these two any time nothing will happen seriously except in the long run. In fact i did that many times in the course of my bloody illness. But as soon as i cut seroquel i feel it right away with my mixed states. I know each of these nasty drugs causes something or another but seroquel is by excellence the worst.
Avatar m tn ve paid their fines and settled the lawsuits so that part has passed, but this drug has profound effects on the functioning of brain neurotransmitters and so using it for sleep can be a really really bad idea. Ideally, sleep problems should be solved by fixing the sleep problem, not medicating it for long periods of time because that can cause a chronic problem called rebound insomnia. Now, this isn't to say this med isn't just the ticket for some people.
Avatar n tn i take 375mg of effexor and 300mg of seroquel each day and ive noticed the weight gain coz im quite skinny and i dont really eat that much, i get the crazy dreams and nitemares with the effexor ive even been unlucky enough to be 1 of the 1 in 10,000 that gets seizures from taking it, its no fun shoving a load of pills down ur neck every day just so u can be semi normal, i look 4ward to the day i dont have to fight myself just to stay alive, its no way to life your life
Avatar n tn What is the level of neurotransmitters ( or receptors = I don't know much) in Delusional disorder, affective disorder and Schizophrenia?
Avatar n tn 32/male I have aggitation where I'm uncomfortable in my own mind, in my own skin -- severe 24/7 derealization -- anxiety -- nothing feels real and I'm 24/7 lightheaded. Lately it's been worse and I've had a huge appettite. If I cut back on food, it makes my symptoms worse. My once high sex drive has also crashed recently. I was wonder. Do this cluster of symptoms point to any particular neurotransmitter --- and would it be too low or too high in my brain?
Avatar m tn I do not want to go to a phycologist or whatever because, I am scared that they might admit me. I think about my kids and I know that if I do something stupid they will have nobody no mother. I use to go to college years ago and I told myself no mater what I go through hang in there. I have racing thoughts a voice tells me that if I just do it now all the pain will go away and that it is the best thing to do.
574118 tn?1305135284 For example when I took 100mg seroquel if sedated me without touching the depression or psychotic symptoms and it wasn't until it was raised to 400mg that it started to work as a mood stabiliser, and even then the depression persisted. You tell me your depression is mild, adel but if you are having thoughts where you feel you wish to die then that gives me the feeling that it is more serious than you think, and needs to be addressed as such.
874521 tn?1424116797 The 1st to have drawn my attention to this is LeftCoastChick which is true. Again lamictal works upwards and seroquel works downwards so equalising each other (my engineering sense not the clinical one). So i am positive that this the right combo. Finally if you consider the production dates of these 2 drugs they are the latest except abilify among all the bloody others.
Avatar m tn I just got off Seroquel which I was taking to help with OCD and depression, but also for insomnia. I got off of it because I experience extrapyramidal symptoms which I believe shows I may be more at risk for developing TD though my Dr has told me it is very rare to get TD on the atypical antipsychotics. Another Dr has now put me on Trazadone for sleep, 100 mg.
663901 tn?1232649671 Yes when I was on Seroquel I had to get an eye exam each year due to the extremely rare risk of cataracts but I saw an opthamologist anyway so it was no big deal. That is statisically rare and no reason to be concerned about Seroquel and a check up as I suggested is the best form of follow up. Seroquel is safe in this regard. In this case (you know I am always factual) your pharmacist was overstating the risk but a follow up visit is generally a good idea.
Avatar f tn Since seroquel can cause high BG you sure your diabetic and not as a result of seroquel raising your BG? Go to Google and put seroquel into the serch field.
569026 tn?1216982293 I have 6 kids and some days (even just some hours in a day) I get so upset over something so small and seem to snap...scream and yell....and then feel so bad, end up crying and feeling awful. This can repeat itself over and over. Help! Stop the train! I want to get off! So my question is do you think this drug, which I started yesterday, fits here? Also, I noticed some take the Wellbutrin and the Abilify together.
462570 tn?1273632977 A shortage or excess of these and similar neurotransmitters are thought to be responsible for emotional disorders like anxiety, depression, ADHD, social anxiety and mood disorder. Someone who has Parkinson’s disease lacks Dopamine. This question is best suited for the specialists. It takes years of education to have a good understand of how all these work together for proper functioning.
Avatar f tn My first pregnancy i did bot use it and my daughter is very smart. I was wondering if any of you have used seroquel and delivered a healthy baby.
Avatar m tn Has anyone taken Seroquel and anti-biotics and are now experiencing heart problems? Do these issues subside, I stopped the seroquel when this happened?
574118 tn?1305135284 It gives you ups and downs which make hypomania and depression more likely. The ideal would be to find a dose of seroquel and stick with it. It the fatigue is getting to you, you may want to try it all at night. What I worry about is the kindling theory. Each time you allow yourself to reach a mixed state, depression, or mania/hypomania the pathways in the brain are forming a stronger connection.
802234 tn?1237830136 My question I took my first dose of Seroquel XR last night and woke with small puffy area inside the 'bags' under my eyes they are still there 9 hours into the day - a non-work, no sun, low energy day (the bags are normal, puffiness is normal when I cry) but usually the whole 'bag' is swollen not just a part. They are not exactly the same size or in the same position, not red, itchy, hot or sensitive.
1349329 tn?1276985202 Thank u 4 ur fb. everyday is something different. i was given low dose seroquel 4 sleep and i am sleeping but it is so weird. i'm not feeling that electrical sensation but now am feeling extreme terror and odd body sensations. i tried to walk our dog yesterday and i thought i was going to faint. it was like i was on the edge of a high cliff looking down. nothing in particular started this. it just came on out of the blue. i feel like i'll never feel normal or sleep normal.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Every atypical antipsychotic has the potential of metabolic changes that can cause weight gain and on ocassion diabetes but if you eat a sensible diet and exercise that can be kept under control (that also includes the second issue, a person I knew developed pre-diabetes from Abilify and through weight loss, proper dieting and exercise and following up with his doctor was able to keep this in check).
