5206664 tn?1365112476 I've had 2 grand mal seizures since being 22, was "diagnosed" with epilepsy which is just a symptom..didn't know then. Lazy "drs", leaving it at that. My neck has been stiff and painful for 30 years , had carpal tunnel in R arm in the 90's, bladder and kidney problems galore, now am Leaking now at times for no reason,,, high pitched ringing in my ears, numb foot (and heel) when get up from bed, terrible left leg cramp occasionally and more....
Avatar f tn I had a grandmal seizure and has been seizure free for 12 years. Currently on 750mg of kepra and 20 mg clobazem. In august I had and episode where the left side of my body went numb, my face drooped and I was unable to speak for 2 hours. I also experienced sharp pain at the back of my left year and my skull. The hospital tests CT, ECG, EKG and bllod work showed no stroke.
1653487 tn?1303524162 s work/lots of stress that you have a seizure. Kind of when your guard is down, although if you have refractory epilepsy, or occaisional breakout seizures, it is frustrating. I often have had seizures while asleep, or while I play piano, actually. When "relaxing" so to say, but one can never predict 100%. Many women are more likely to have seizures just before (like two days or so) or during their menstrual cycles. Some have seizures close to when they ovulate, i.e. day 15 or so.

Avatar f tn If she has more than two seizures in 24 hours with fever she should be evaluated by a neurologist. That makes its a complex seizure vs a simple one.
Avatar f tn Hello again, sorry if this is a really stupid question, but what is the difference between a Seizure Disorder and Epilepsy? My neuro had diagnosed me with a seizure disorder (having daily occurences) and I just wanted to know what the difference was.. of course, I forgot to ask him at the time!
Avatar n tn One night after we had played video games for a good amount of time, Alan went to shower and then came to bed. He was lying down and had a seizure. Then another one. He had a total of maybe 5 seizures and they were about 15 seconds long and a couple of minutes apart. Afterwards he was fine. He told me that he usually has a headache before a seizure and that he didn't this time. He also told me that he had taken an alka seltzer close to when he had taken his medication.
Avatar m tn blood tests, CT scan of the head or MRI of the head, EEG or lumbar puncture. Depending on the type, there are medications that may be taken. You should observe and record any seizures to ensure the person gets proper treatment with medications prescribed by your doctor. Your initial efforts should be directed first at protecting the child from additionally injuring himself or herself. Help your child to lie down and remove glasses or other harmful objects in the area.
963651 tn?1247528914 This sounds a lot like epilepsy. My doctor's are trying to diagnose me with epilepsy because my hands start to shake right before I pass out. I do not have any of the other symptoms of epilepsy (rigidness, shaking body while passed out, biting of the tongue) so I do not think that I have epilepsy.
Avatar f tn over the last 18 months he has had what i think are a form of seizure, the symptoms are, he will rub his fingers together on his right hand, and lick his lips, and seems to be in a day dream for about 1 minute, when i ask him about it he doesnt realize what has happened. are these fits dangerous and should he seek medical advise, or could it be anything to do with the remaining plates in his skull? it is such a worry and would be gratefull if you could give me some advice.
Avatar n tn i have epilepsy, when stressed I have seizures.
Avatar f tn You said that you were under the impression that you have to be on Benzos for a period of time before having a withdrawal seizure. This is correct, however your case is singular and not to be looked at as a typical case because you have epilepsy. Since you have epilepsy your thresh hold for having a seizure is obviously lower than some normal mo-joe who doesn't have the condition and doesn't have a family history.
Avatar n tn s possible that these episodes are seizures. He should seek out a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy (a general term applied when one has experienced 2 or more seizures). My 15 yr. old son was diagnosed with epilepsy 3 yrs. ago and has been completely controlled on medication (no seizures) for 3 yrs., after having 6 major seizures.
Avatar m tn good day, as a mother of a 17 yr old boy who suffer brain tumor epilepsy is there any remedy for his desease? how about surgery is there is any posibility for him to recover, im so sorry i ask so many question, when the seizures come what should i do please do help .
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to tell without examination if the headache is a symptom of mild form of epilepsy or not. Sometimes headache is the only symptom of seizure along with positive EEG findings, but it is very rare. Headaches occur more commonly after seizures. http://www.epilepsy.com/articles/ar_1063754930 Do you have a history of epilepsy? I would suggest you to discuss this with your neurologist and undergo EEG testing to make sure this headache are indeed epilepsy.
Avatar f tn I have abcent seizures and I think I might have epilepsy. i am 15 and i also get random shakes. How important is it for me to get help? no body knows about this. what should i do about it too.?
Avatar f tn It could be epilepsy, but the fact that, from the way you mentioned it, the head banging somewhat woke you up does not point toward a seizure because usually when you come out of a seizure, you are confused, extremely tired, and sore. Also, you wouldn't be able to be woken up from the head banging. Although, the fact that the shower nob held up your head by hair would be suspicious of something more than fainting...
Avatar f tn There are different types of epilepsy with different characteristics like grand mal epilepsy you have tonic clonic generalized muscle contractions, frothing, unconsciousness, twitches, metal confusion, some may lose bladder and bowel control, usually preceded by an aura of impending seizure. aura is a strange feeling of muscle stiffening, hearing weird sounds, smelling strange smells etc. absence seizure manifest as brief staring spells where the person is cut off from the surroundings.
Avatar f tn Epilepsy is a term or diagnosis provided to people who have more than a certain number of seizures within a specific time frame. If this is your first seizure, you would not be diagnosed epileptic unless the doctor orders an EEG and you have a response to light and pattern typical to an epileptic. So, the symptoms you explained do sound like a seizure, but having a seizure doesn't automatically make you epileptic. Does that make sense? Get an EEG done to make sure epilepsy is ruled out.
Avatar m tn I have read abut research using anti-inflamatory steroids to treat the epilepsy and not just the seizure. What you say is amazing and I wish I knew how to get this research funded.
