Propranolol and ambien

Common Questions and Answers about Propranolol and ambien

I was taking ambien last year and did a number of things in my sleep which I dont care to mention, and not remmeber the next day. In short, I tapered myself off ambien, and experience a daily dose of confusion, and memory loss. Its so embarrassing. My fiance constantly looks at me like I am crazy, for not being able to recall something from the day before, and etc. I really hope someone does something to remove this drug from our shelfs. I was fine before this.
His physician gave him Cyclobenzaprine and Ambien to help with sleep but nothing seems to improve his sleeping. His quality of life is poor needless to say and it affects our family as a whole. I am consulting another neurologist next week to see if there is something we are missing or any treatments that might help his situation. Any thoughts???
He has been sufering with anxiety for 3 years. He has taken Prozac, Paxil, Ativan and vitamins with no complete success. His anxiety revolves around school. He has nervousness, some shaking and just feeling out of sorts. The doctor has put him on lamotrigine. He has been taking this med for 10 weeks and is taking 125mg twice a day. He is also taking 40mg of propranolol for the outward signs of shaking. Since he has been taking both of these meds he must take ambien to sleep.

Im 39 year's of age , And this seem's to be to to Much Medication for a person of my Age ? I suppose everyone take's just a few med's , and those that take somewhat medication's as Im Taking ... I take six psych meds and wouldn't drop any of them as they complement each other and keep me semi-stable. I take Lamictal, Abilify, Emsam, Propranolol, Ambien, Klonopin and a drug for high cholesterol.
What they did was, I took the RAI on a Wednesday, and then the following Monday I went back on my normal regiment (4 PTU 3x a day, 3 Propranolol 2 times a day). I'm supposed to keep this up until Sunday, when I get off of the PTU but stay on the Propranolol. And, my Endo didn't schedule my first blood test until May 14th.
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
I never heard of a lot of the things that happen on say, Ambien(in some people), using tranqs for the same thing...and if money is an issue, and you don't have all these meds on insurance, tranqs like xanax and ativan, are a lot, lot cheaper than sleeping meds like Ambien, and for many people, they work just as well for sleep... one thing I found interesting on the Ativan literature that might interest you...
I didn't have the 2 grand a day it costs, so my doctor put me on xanax, ambien (to help with sleep), propranolol (for the creepy crawlies) and clonodine (no, not klonopin. It's a heart med you take at night so you don't get a heart attack - not that I'm saying you would, but I dunno) this all worked for me. I'm still on the xanax, but will taper and get off. It's only been 65 days. Relapses will hinder your progress so be strong.
Yes, definelty read as much as you can about all the medicines he is taking!!!! I am on Oxycodone, Maxalt, Propranolol, Cymbalta and Ambien. Through my OWN research on these medicines, I found that I should not mix any of them together....but yet, My Dr. nor the Pharmacy told me it was dangerous so at first, I was....I could have died. Luckily, I only take the Maxalt as needed for Migraines and I always take my last pain pill a few hours before bed...
About six months ago my left neck began to hurt and I noticed what I thought was a lump there. I went to a head and neck specialist and he said that I had inflammtion of my Carotid artery(Carotidynia). The lump, I guess, was just the bifurcation of my artery that was swollen. The doctor told me to take an anti-inflammatory(ibuprophen) for 2 weeks. The pain finally diminished, but about a month later it started in my right neck.
I take Lamictal (mood stabilizer), Abilify (antipsychotic), Emsam (antidepressant), propranolol (for movement disorder caused by Abilify), Klonopin (for sleep), and Ambien (for sleep). Everyone's combination of medications is different. Along with medication, therapy really helps. You can learn more about BP, triggers, your symptoms, how to deal with life. I go every other week and sometimes weekly.
Endo put me on propranolol 10mg twice a day. Caused my hands and feet to be cold and tingling, then my skin became numb all over, especially my face. I reduced my dose to half a tablet twice a day with good results. No I didn't consult the endo. Had the radioactive iodine uptake scan Monday and Tuesday and waiting for the.results is killing me. The 4 hour scan said 52% the 24 hour scan said 67% . I had a sono a few weeks ago.and have a goiter, nodules and a cyst on my thyroid.
The concurrent medications that I am currently taking now is Proprandol for anixety now, Amitripyline for my triptans (Day 7 still the same painful migraines), and Ambien for insomina. The nasal sprays I stop taking because of blood pressure was being low.
I have thyroid disease, asthma, hypertension and migraines and my currently 56 years old. I currently take Synthroid, Singular, Celexa, Ambien and propranolol. I dont't currently have a pic of the rash.
Since the shot and reaction, I have run the mill as far as perscribed medications, Depakote, Buspar, Ativan, Seroquel, Neurontin, Remeron, Trileptal, Percocet, Hydrocodone, Oxycontin, Propranolol, Lyrica, Vistiril, Lunesta, Ambien, Haldol, and probably a few others. As you can see, in two years time to take all of that, when I had never take a pill prior to that except over the counter stuff, is pretty wild.
This is called propranolol. They also subscribed clonidine (no, not klonipin) and xanax and ambien. It wasn't so hard, Not anywhere as hard as I thought it would be. But for about a month I had stomache issues and W/D aches and pains. I just took tylenol and advil for them and used a heating pad. K, but here's the kicker. 33 days into my detox from the opiates, I get in a car accident, slammed at a complete stop at 30 MPH from behind. Whiplash sucked, but I didn't run to the docs.
The good news about it is that besides the tremor, which is of course very bothersome to some people, it does not have other consequences (it is not neurodegenerative) in the majority of patients, though a minority develop parkinson’s disease. Propranolol is a commonly used and effective treatment for BET, but can not be used in people with asthma and some other pulmonary problems. Other treatments for BET include primidone, or mysoline.
I went to the dr and he didnt really understand what i was explaining. he gave me propranolol which is for ppl with adrenaline rushes when they r nervous like puplic speakers, and it is givin to heart attack victims so that they do not get overly startled. it did not help. so one night it got so bad i went to the er. they took blood, did and ekg and everything turned out normal. he prescribed me neurontin and xanax but did not tell me what the problem was or why it is there.
i am on celexa and ambien and just stoped Klonopin.i have been on Lithium,Wellbutrin and xanex in the past year....
I have been unable to engage in any physical activity because I become so sick that I can't function for up to a day or two afterwards. I get very tight in the back and chest and feel like the air isn't going deep enough. I become completely exhausted physically.I feel washed out, like something the cat has dragged in. I can't sleep afterwards because my breathing is not right, and my body won't let me fall asleep. I have an incredible urge to drink liquids.
Never taken Ativan, but I always have much more anxiety when I leave an appointment with my shrink and therapist. I take propranolol 35mg to help feeling to anxious.
The beta blockers I take (I'm prescribed atenolol [Tenormin] and propranolol [Inderal] for my tremor, and coincidentally, I am on clonazepam for anxiety issues (though if it I didn't have essential tremor, I wouldn't take it daily ― I don't need it so often for my anxiety anymore) and I'm also on topiramate/Topamax which is an anti-convulsant that I've been told by my doctor shows that it can help tremor from ET.
put 2 zofran tablets under my tongue, sometimes a anti-nausea sea sickness patch behind an ear, 4-1 mg of ativan and an ambien and bed for 3 days. Once diagnosed, and this was done by process of elimination with meds, I dropped the neurologist and work with a psychiatrist to balance my chemicals. I dropped neurontin as a daily preventative bc a big, bad side effect is enormous weight gain. And, ballooning up like that is not acceptable.
Hope you can follow all the parenthesis. I also take Ambien and Klonopin for sleep and propranolol for akathisia. So, I take 7 psych drugs. The drugs you take aren't out of line, they just don't seem to be effective right now. By the way, having the two mood stabilizers is not redundant as Lamictal works best for depression and lithium works well for mania. As long as you are taking a mood stabilizer that works for you then you can take antidepressants.
5/325 mg one tab six times a day (this was changed today for my taper to 5 times a day), Ambien nightly to help me go to sleep, Cymbalta for depression, Maxalt as needed for migraines and propranolol for an irregular heartbeat.....it is funny that before I was ever givin the Vicoden, I rarely had to take prescription medicines...except for the occassional Midirin for migraines...but those quit working so they changed it to Maxalt. Now I feel like a walking pharmacy!
I also have asthma, depression and anxiety all of which are under control. Med list Ambien, Topamax, Inderal, Synthroid, Ativan, Maxalt MLT, Zoloft, Vit. D, Skelaxin, Percocet Thank you so much for helping!
Make sure he is taking his Propranolol. It slows his heart beat and reduces the portal hypertension that causes varices and rectal bleeding.
I'm on Valium for unsteadiness and Compazine for nausea. Nothing really works for my headaches, I just take Tylenol and cross my fingers. My dr recently prescribed Acetazolamide but I have not started it yet. This medicine reduces your CSF so I'm very curious to try it.
It was doctors who did not treat me properly in the first place that got me here, and I will not be using anymore of them unless I lose my faculties and am forced to. I'm very serious about my decision, and I just want to know what to expect. I have Propananol for chest pains that I get from mitral valve prolapse, that helped lower my blood pressure yesterday when my pain levels were unbearable. I have a lot of neck pain, and it gives me tension type headaches.
