Common Questions and Answers about Prograf blood levels

prograf

Avatar f tn I think 2 mg Prograf per day at 6 months out is a really nice dose and his Prograf blood level of 6.5 is definitely within range.
Avatar n tn I'm 61 years young and had a full liver transplant 2 1/2 months ago. Prograf levels go from 7 to 13.6 back to 6.5 Could it be the new lab that is screwing up. I take all 52 pills on time dailywith a wonderful hubby making sure.
Avatar f tn I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.

Avatar m tn If suppressants are at the correct trouph levels, say, Prograf and Rapamycin, what are the next steps - switch suppressants, treat?
686869 tn?1227199935 When the kidneys malfunction, problems frequently encountered are abnormal fluid levels in the body, deranged acid levels, abnormal levels of potassium, calcium, phosphate, hematuria (blood in the urine) and (in the longer term) anemia. Long-term kidney problems have significant repercussions on other diseases, such as cardiovascular disease.
Avatar f tn prograf can cause tremor and high blood pressure. its not unusual to feel fatigued this soon after a transplant.
Avatar f tn you sound like you may be on a bit too much immunosuppression this many years out from the transplant. a lot depends on the prograf and rapa trough levels though. i recommend aggressively talking with the transplant team about lowering the doses of both. not sure frankly why you need to be on both rapa and prograf.

Avatar f tn You will also need blood tests to monitor your kidney and liver function, blood sugar, blood clotting, blood cells, levels of salts (electrolytes, eg potassium), and amount of the medicine in your blood. Measuring the level of medicine in your blood helps your doctor to prescribe you the correct dose. If you get diarrhoea during treatment, this can affect the amount of medicine in your blood and extra monitoring of your tacrolimus blood level is recommended.

Avatar m tn I believe that the benefits pf statins outweigh the risks and have altered my eating lifestyle so to nearly exclude carbohydrates. This has enabled me to continue statin regime while keeping my fasting blood glucose levels at acceptaptable unmedicated levels. My wife on the other hand continues to take Metformin while on the statin drug.
Avatar n tn Now the insurance company is ******* me over on the Prograf, so I soon will be free of this drug. My blood pressure has been uncontrollable, due to the Prograf. Thanks to Blue Cross/ Blue Shield Medicare Part D of Florida, my life will improve or end quickly.
Avatar m tn My current dose is Prograf 3 mg AM/ Prograf 3 mg PM and Rapamune 4 mg AM. The intent is to convert me to 100% Rapamune because of the nephro-toxicity of the Prograf and my young age and because of the anti-cancer properties of Rapamune. Data, while horribly limited, has shown Rapamune's anti-cancer properties have had success against vascular tumors such as mine so EHE, in this case chronic, is part of the cancers Rapamune affects (some cancers it has no effect).
Avatar f tn At that time (i.e. two weeks back) her blood result showed that her TLC has slipped to below normal (which is minimum 4) and was showing as 2.8. Her Haemoglobin seems to have settled around 11.2. All other results including Blood, LFT, Creatine etc show normal. Doctor reduced her CellCept to 500 mg (from 1000mg) and increased PanGraaf to 5 mg (from 4mg) and Wysolone (steroid) to 12.5mg (from 15 mg). One week later she had the tests done again.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your concern and compassion. It is greatly appreciated. I took her to the ER on Sunday after posting this. They did a CT. She has Pleural Effusion of her right lung and reduced lung capacity by 20% along with some third spaced fluid in her abdomen. There is no abscess present. Her vomiting has stopped. She hasn't thrown up for nine days now. Her vitals remain good, and she has put on three pounds with the feeding tube. She is having a very hard time to sleep...
163305 tn?1333668571 Thanks guys for your great information. I'm getting my annual biopsy this Friday so these thoughts are surfacing. My main ploy for liver protection has been guzzling coffee, eating dark chocolate and staying happy. Mike: Hmmm, I didn't know about the increased levels, maybe I should get off prograf first~ it's a goal of mine, with my doc's reluctant cooperation, of course. My last trough level was 2.3 and no rejection in sight. Hector: How do you stay so clear headed?
29837 tn?1414534648 05mg daily of Prograf. Has anyone who had a liver transplant gotten off the Prograf completely? Inquiring minds want to know.
1135761 tn?1260557094 No fever or nausea. Am I just complaining or should I take more seriously. I had blood drawn today. My next appointment with my transplant team is june 15.
Avatar f tn I'm geno type 3. I've heard Prograf is harder on the kidneys than sirolimus which is why they switched me from cyclosporine to sirolimus. That's probably why they haven't suggested switching me to Prograf in fact this is the first time I'm hearing about Prograf or Tacrolimus (it's other name as I found on the web). Thanks for your response and congrats on your great report since week 4 !
Avatar f tn One thing you should beware when it comes to the anti-rejection medicine (Prograf) that your husband is talking. The caution is that you have to ask his doctor frequently when the dosage can be lowered. Prograf is toxic and in the long run it can cause kidney failure. Right after my transplant, I was put on 10 mg. Prograf daily. Gradually, the doctor lowered it to 5, then 4, and so on. Last month, the doctor lowered it to 1.5 mg. daily.
