Avatar f tn You will also need blood tests to monitor your kidney and liver function, blood sugar, blood clotting, blood cells, levels of salts (electrolytes, eg potassium), and amount of the medicine in your blood. Measuring the level of medicine in your blood helps your doctor to prescribe you the correct dose. If you get diarrhoea during treatment, this can affect the amount of medicine in your blood and extra monitoring of your tacrolimus blood level is recommended.
Avatar f tn Avoid as much sodium as possible, keep blood pressure close to normal levels (if that requires medicine, then take it as prescribed), drink plenty of fluids ( at least 64oz/day) do not take any OCT NSAIDs (over the counter pain relievers, which contain ibuprofen, or aspirin) here's a list: http://www.lyberty.com/encyc/articles/nsaid.
Avatar m tn i wouldnt lower the tacrolimus dose further
Avatar n tn ve resigned myself to using tobradex w/my opth monitoring IOP levels, and I also use the other treatments. My opth seems okay with tobradex long term, but I wish had the peace of mind of knowing that I had a permanent treatment.
Avatar m tn and the Creatinine level at that was 1.5 - 1.6. The doctor reduced the tacrolimus dose to .5 mg morning and evening and since then the Creatinine level is slowly increasing. It is now between varying between 2.1 and 2.4. The TAC level is also low and reduced from 4.5 to 3.4 to 2.4 when last checked 2 months ago. Had a biopsy 2 months back and the report was OK. Pl suggest.
Avatar m tn i would be extremely cautious about using it until more data is available especially since its purported effects on tacrolimus and cyclosporine metabolism are extreme. i am quite confident that there will be clinical trials coming down the road extremely soon.
Avatar f tn What is considered "high blood pressure" and when does it become a concern??? My typical blood pressure is in the low 120's/low 130's however, lately its been in the mid140's/low 150's. Does this happen after transplant (3 months post transplant)? Should I be concerned? Does Prograf cause tremors? And...can these tremors be contributing to making a person feel tired and exhausted???
163305 tn?1333668571 The CIs - cyclosporine and tacrolimus levels are increased significantly by the PIs - as much as 70% increased levels - I believe. I do not know of any transplant centers who have begun treatment with Invcivek or Victrelis in their liver transplant population. It appears as though we're going to have to wait until they've figured out the dosages.
446474 tn?1446347682 I just wanted to let you know I have made an amazing recovery post transplant. I have had no post surgery complications. All blood levels are within norms and I haven't felt this good in many, many years. I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. I appreciate any knowledge of Zortress and its use you might have. Be well.
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Avatar n tn Morphine itself, however, is not affected by grapefruit juice, as it is not metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system. * Cyclosporine (Neoral). Blood levels of cyclosporine are increased if taken with grapefruit juice. A plausible mechanism involves the combined inhibition of enteric CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein, which potentially leads to serious adverse events (e.g., nephrotoxicity).Blood levels of tacrolimus (Prograf) can also be equally affected for the same reason as with cyclosporine.
Avatar m tn Antihistaminics, topical steroids, PUVA therapy, retinoic acid and tacrolimus are the available treatment options for lichen planus. It is best to clarify your doubts by your dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn His cretanine is almost 1.4 or around. My question is that should he continue his TACROLIMUS tablets or should switch to some other tablets which are safe for kidneys? Secondly , in my sorrounding there is an opinion that lowering the TACROLIMUS dose also let the liver enzymes to increase? Do you favour such opinions as my father has lowered his tacrolimus dose to keep his kidneys safe? Sir ,will wait for your kind reply. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for responding. I have uploaded some pictures of my mum's rash - hopefully you will be able to access them. The rashes are rough not smooth. My mum did have athlete's foot once but that was several years ago. She is on medicine for high blood pressure (I think Lotensen) but I believe the rash and itching started before she was prescrible this drug.
Avatar f tn The treatments of this condition are application of topical corticosteroids (betamethasone, clobatesol, flucinolone) which will reduce the inflammatory process. Topical immunomodulators like pimecrolimus and tacrolimus can be used in severe conditions. I hope it helps. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed by blood test like RAST. Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn there are prograf assistance programs that the company offers. If this is not feasible than using other cheaper medications such as verapamil for example for HTN for example will alllow much lower doses of prograf to be used (it delays metabolism of the medication) and thus it comes out cheaper.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was prescribed fluocinonide cream seboratic dermatitis by my dermatologist. As a pharmacist, I was nervous about apply this to my face routinely. He told me there was no other treatment, and it would work better with routine use. So, against my better judement I did what he said. I have used it almost daily for nearly a year. I now know I have steroid induced rosacea. My NEW dermatologist has taken me off the fluocinonide.
2093628 tn?1332979308 I have a 5 yr old rescue long haired chi mix that has neurogenic KCS (dry eye) adopted 10/2011. We've gone thru the university vet school ophthamology treatments (cyclosporin, tacrolimus, and pilocarpine drops) since 10/11 with no response. We are currently treating with gels, drops, and ointments throughout the day and antibiotic ointment as needed. The next step appears to be having his eye removed. Has anyone had this done?

Avatar n tn He is 16 years old and is on several immunesurpresents at this time which include Cellcept, Tacrolimus, Predisone. My question is should he seek medical attention for this or could it be just a side effect of his medications he is on?
917763 tn?1311628896 General speaking how low do you blood levels have to drop before they consider either reducing tx or putting you on a rescue drug?
