Common Questions and Answers about Pregnancy contractions feel like

contractions

Hey ladies, I'm 35 weeks with my first child, and I was wondering if any moms out there could tell me what contractions feel like. While I was loading the dishwasher today, I started to feel a sharp pain behind/to the left of my bellybutton. When I put my hand on my stomach it felt a lot harder than it usually does, but it only lasted for a few seconds. This happened three times for less than ten seconds within a ten minute period.
Ive also been experiencing what I think are contractions but not sure as this is my first pregnancy. Can any tell me what contractions feel like? Im afraid im going to go into labor and not know it.
Skin stretching- usually itchy and taught, but your belly underneath is not tightening up 3). Gas cramps S U C K! It feels like contractions, but again--- no tightening. You'll feel relief when the gas comes out. 4). Period cramps- well if you're pregnant you won't have these 5). BH contractions- tightening of the belly, usually the low side. Real contractions will cause your entire belly to tighten into a tight, tight ball. These can be uncomfortable, painful or not even noticeable! 6).
I was wondering what contractions feel like. For the past two days I have been having these menstrual crampy feelings. They seem to come and go. Like lastnight I was on the couch and they kept coming and going. The ones lastnight were accompanied by a very bad backache. UGH. Do contractions feel similar to menstrual cramps? If not what would you describe them as feeling like. I was just wondering bc if these are contractions, I shouldn't be having them as I am only 26 weeks. Thanks.
None of these pains have persisted for long periods of time and I haven't had any bleeding or anything like that. I was just wondering what to look out for. Can anyone describe what contractions actually feel like and how to differentiate between other aches and pains?
Contractions feel like cramps that get worse n worse. U can feel them bc they tightened up for seconds to minutes then release. Then do it all over again. If u put ur hand on the top of ur belly which is ur uterus u can feel them tight n release. Braxton hicks will go away if u lay on ur side, take a shower, or things like that. They dont get stronger n stronger. So hope this helps.

Contractions feel like major menstrual cramps, which usually start with aching in the back and moving around to the front of your stomach. The pressure gets tighter and tighter and once it peaks, it starts to relax. If you have back labor (which happened to me during my first labor), you might only feel cramping and pains in your back and they never come around to the front.
Most people say contractions feel like period cramps, but I have to disagree. I think they feel more like cramps you get when you are trying to hold in your poop until you find a bathroom, just more intense. I think too many people focus on timing contractions. Until they begin to make you cringe and hold your breathe, there is no need to time them and can put a lot of unneeded pressure on the mother.
I feel like I haven't fine this before! its my fifth baby and I can't decide if I'm in labor or not. every pregnancy the contractions get easier and easier...
Try not to worry. Contractions feel like period pains but they start off mild, gradually get stronger and then fade away again. The more contractions you get, the stronger they become. Also if you place your hand on your tummy you can usually feel it harden during a contraction. Trust me when I say you will know when it starts. Im on pregnancy number 5.
This is my first pregnancy and I hear a lot of women get braxton hicks contractions I was wondering...what do braxton hicks contractions feel like and what do normal contractions feel like?
ive never experienced what you describe but contractions feel a lot like period cramps.. you'll feel a portion of your belly harden like a rock. more than 5 contractions in an hour warrant a call to your OB. my BH contractions started at 19 weeks and i was admitted at 34 weeks overnight for preterm contractions that were every 2-3 minutes apart.
Can any explain to me what contractions feel like ??
I would say its just normal pregnancy pain, contractions definitly come and go. And for me it only feels like menstral pains in early labor, then the full blown contractions are different. If it gets more painful you should call your doctor though, cause everyone is different!
My braxton hicks actually cover the whole belly, but for me my real contractions stay lower. I feel them in my pubic area and lower belly amd theu tend to wrap around in my bum.

What does a contraction feel like exactly? I've probably asked this a thousand times but never really got a response that makes sense to me.
