I went and the nurse calls me to inform me that the Dr will no longer be able to give me any more Percocet or Klonopin seems my Urine Drug Screen showed that I was negative for both drugs. I told her I had taken 2 Percocet the day before and I take my Klonopin daily before bed.
We have been going round and round about this for a few week now. I have been reading your posts on this matter. I live in WI which is State mandated since 2010 (which I just found out).
There is no way that a drug screen would come back positive after 13 days on one percocet. Especially just one 5mg tablet. They stay in your system for up to 3 days I use to take them and test negative 24 hours later. It depends on how much you are taking and how often but not even heavy usage would stay in your system for that long.
Hello Lass,First off is this just routine,or is their some reason of diversion like due you work as a nurse ,and if so,are they checking only you or are you on a Methadone program and all they want to know is there any hydrocodone in yopur system to bebin with,as same not so bright addicts say that they are on this and that and when they run a urine screen,nothing shows up,even the drug that they say is their drug of choice.
My daughter was given a drug screen recently. She is on prescribed Percocet and Morphine for chronic pain. However, before the drug screen, (she can't remember exactly how long before, but thinks it was within 3 days) she took 5 mg of Methadone and 25 mg of Phenergan, one time only each. My son who is in a drug court program is drug tested every thursday. It's always a urine test but was given a saliva test a few weeks ago and it showed a trace of oxycodone. He has been clean over 500 days and is adamant about it being a mistake. He had a hair follicle test performed but the court won't accept it because it supposedly only shows chronic use, not a one time use.
2 days for a 5mg percocet could be hit or miss on a drug screen if they are looking for it. I would expect a negative result assuming you only took that and no more the previous days. I used to really worry about the detection times. Google drug half lives and detection times. There is a science behind it with some exceptions.
there are expensive screens that can differentiate but i would tend to think it would not show up on a standard 5 panel screen....i do know someone who paseed their drug screen/5 panel where i work..she is a nurse on sub/with a scrip but did not want to get into the addiction thing so she did not say she took it....it came back ok...if it woulda come back bad..then she was gonna say something...
Also limit your water intake until an hour or two before the test so that the concentration of percocet in your urine remains strong as I believe these test are most of the time not sensitive enough as increased sensitivity costs more money that the insurance may not pick up the tab for as it is a doctor desired test above what is available at a lower cost that is supposed to "technically" achieve the same results.
I have been on oxycontin 40mil and oxycodone 10/325 for 13 years . I did a random urine screen for the second time in 4 months and tested positive for marijuana and didn't touch the stuff and never failed one . I'm perplexed. I've had 4 back surgeries, permanent nerve damage, torn miniscus in my knee, degenerative disk disease & arthritis in my back/knee/hip etc. I take four 325 per day of oxycodone aka percocet. I've been with my Dr. for 19 years! Today I was told NO medicine at all showed up in my urine. I've never failed a test in almost 20 years.
I never had a problem and was always a compliant patient and passed all my drug screens. Recently I had a drug screen and they claim I didnt have the proper amount of percocet in my system....so they dismissed me from the practice.
I understand I signed a pain contract, but this is rediculous. The reason this happened is because I took my last Percocet the day before the test because I wasn't in that much pain.

low dose formulations of oxycodone such as percocet(oxycodone/acetiminophen(tylenol)) or percodan(oxycodone/aspirin) which is most commonly given in 5mg or 10 mg tablets is usually given after certain surgeries and for people in severe pain. both oxycontin and percocet abuse has grown in popularity immensely in the past 10 years. its extremely drastic how fast it has arose to being a DOC for people. and the wd's are the same as other opiates of its kind like heroin or dilaudid.
Something should have remained in your system. As Molly said it will sometimes appear in a Urine Drug Screen as Morphine but it should not in a blood test.
I am sorry that you are in this situation. I know it doesn't help but others have had this happen to them also. It seems to be an unexplainable phenomenon.
Why on earth would they think you are selling? Most likely because there are so many that so sell. I know no body.
t easily distinguish dosages taken by the amount in the urine test. It just shows how many parts per million there is. The drug is extracted so much over time dependent on the person's metabolism. So, the number you're given will depend on tons of factors such as time of last dose, person's metabolism, whether the stomach was empty, method of taking the drug (oral versus IV), and even how much of the drug was actually absorbed. Way too many factors to even begin to foster a guess.
I was given a urine drug screen last night that tested positive for benzos. I have not been on any tranquilizers! My current medication regime includes Effexor XR 150mg bid, Seroquel 200mg, taking 400mg qhs, Betaseron 1cc qod subq. I was put on Bactrim last week bid for 5 days for a urinary tract infection. In May, June and part of July I was taking Trazdone 200mg qhs, but then switched back to Seroquel 200mg, taking 400mg qhs. I am confused as to what caused the positive test for benzos?
Dehydration will not effect a drug screen either. It is not rare for a urine drug screen to be in error. Unfortunately like so many other ppl that have erroneous drug screen there really is no recourse for you. I wish I had better answers for you.
Talk to the HR Department or your boss. Ask for more information. I too am curious as to what was found in your urine. Good luck to you.
