Paxil and wellbutrin combination

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and wellbutrin combination

paxil

His appetite has gotten out of control too, as was mine when I used to take Paxil. I finally went off Paxil several years ago and lost all the weight and my husband is going to try something else too when he sees the doctor this week.
but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy. thanks so much for caring.
There are many people using this regimen includng myself. I take Wellbutrin and Klonopin. So no need to worry. I hope the Paxil works for you. Take care.
Former PCP eventually added Wellbutrin because he couldn't up the Paxil any more. The combination seems to have worked pretty well for me, and none of the negatives that others have mentioned have ever been a problem for me -- unless you count the fact that it doesn't help me with weight loss either.
my doctor has me on paxil 40 mg and wellbutrin xl 300 mg ..... is this combination beneficial to me cuz every since i've combined the two i been feeling more depressed than ever and i cant sleep at night so she has me on restoril for that ..... am i heading in the right direction? or am i making things worse?
It is now two full weeks on this dosage of Wellbutrin and the anxiety is always with me. Insominia has kicked in and I am feeling nervous and ragged all of the time. I will say the weight is starting to come down, which is the first time in years and the most positive effect. Could you please tell me how long the anxiety and insominia will continue. I know all of these drugs take at least thirty days. I am just so afraid these symptoms are not going to go away.
I was still having some depression/anxiety issues so I saw a psychiatrist who changed me to wellbutrin 200mg twice a day and weaning off the paxil. I have been taking 10 mg of paxil for the last month and now am taking it every other day to wean off. In the last few days I have been so dizzy to the point of almost falling down and not sleeping well at night with crazy dreams. Is this all do to the new medicine or could it be something else.
He prescribed a does of 20mg of Paxil in combination with the 300mg of Wellbutrin I am already taking. I have not begun taking it yet, since after researching the Paxil I have found many stories of extreme weight gain and sexual dysfunction. I know that if I gained a great deal of weight that I would handle it well. Also, I am hoping at some point to reconcile with my boyfriend and the sexual side effects would be a big issue there too.
is there a combination of paxil and wellbutrin (or something else) that I can take to help relieve my anxiety and counteract the sexual side effects. Would 10 or 15 mg of Paxil (or Paxil CR) be enough to deal with my anxiety now that depression is no longer an issue? Does Wellbutrin really work to counteract the sexual side effects of Paxil without reducing its effectiveness?
Mostly have used psychotherapy w/ some adjunctive meds on occasion. Past meds have incl zoloft, prozac, buspar, paxil @ relatively low doses for relatively short periods of time (6 mo - 1 year). Currently taking Wellbturin SR 150 mg in AM -- for about past 8 months. Increased energy. But still having trouble "getting out there and enjoying life" the way I would like to. I am considering talking to my MD abt Wellburin + Zoloft combo.
Your right about wellbutrin making the anxiety worse. I take it along with Inderal and Klonopin and the combination of those work great for me. The wellbutrin helps my depression the Inderal the shaky hands, heart racing, sweating and blushing. Klonopin (the best pill I have ever taken) work GREAT for my anxiety. I also take Elavil at bedtime to help me sleep. I hope you find something soon. Take care........
I have started taking it, along with the 30mg Paxil daily, and I like the energy and decreased appetite. Paxil caused me to gain about 40 pounds in about 9 months.
I take them for treating a combination of depression and fibromyalgia. I tired without for ten years and got to a point where I could hardly function day to day to I'm giving it a go. Still trying to figure out what works best for me. I hear you on the pharma though...
I am currently on topomax for weight loss and have heard of some scary side effects...i have panic attacks and am on paxil for those. i would like information on the topomax regarding mood stablizing, energy level, and depression.
I went to my psychiatrist and explained the increased anxiety and agitation, and he increased the Wellbutrin to 300mgs daily and the Ativan .5mgs to 3x daily prn. Since this change, the anger and agitation has increased dramatically and I keep having fits of rage and feel as though people are constantly judging me negatively. This med change just happened a few days ago and my therapist suggested I wait it out another week, though I don't know if I can handle this anger much longer.
I have gained about 15 pounds after having been on Paxil for a few months and decided to switch to Wellbutrin XL for the potential side effects of curbing smoking cravings and because of all the information reported about practically guaranteed weight loss. While I was on the brand name, my cravings for fast food and carbs was off the charts and almost impossible to ignore.
The important thing is that you know it's happening, and - believe me - it's the combination of Paxil and alcohol that's causing it. Because you know, you should take this opportunity to decide how you want to handle it. I still haven't done that. I don't drink as often as I used to, but when I do, I still drink quite a bit. I still can get sad or angry as well. I feel that I'm on a good drug combination for my specific issues, but I know that it would be better if I didn't drink.
I had been taking Wellbutrin SR with Paxil for three and a half months (300mg of Wellbutrin SR + 5mg of Paxil in the morning, and 150mg of Wellbutrin SR in the evening). I was prescribed 37.5 mg of Effexor to replace the Paxil. 9 months ago when the depression started, I was only taking Paxil. I was upto 40mg a day and I didn't feel that it was working as much as it should, plus many many side effects (mainly sexual and weight gain).
- To restate my former Question #5 in the context above, if I switched to Wellbutrin (and weaned off Paxil), 1) what might Wellbutrin not do as well as Paxil, and 2) What different side effects is it known for? In other words, why would anyone choose Paxil over Wellbutrin? Is it less aggressive in treating anxiety? Or is it primarily a matter of trial and error with different drugs against people's inherently different brain/body chemistries?
I have been on a combination of Effexor and Wellbutrin for 6 months. Since finding out I am pregnant I have quit taking the Effexor all togeher and continue to take the Wellbutrin. I am feeling fine at this time. I have tried on several occasions to function without any medication, but found it not to work. I would like to hear from anyone who has taken Wellbutrin and/or Effexor during pregnancy. Is there any research available regarding this issue?
Please educate yourself on the effects Paxil can, and most likely will, have on you or whomever uses it and attempts to stop taking the drug. I am a current sufferer of Paxil Withdrawal. Please read the following information... PAXIL WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS MIMIC HEROIN WITHDRAWAL! posted by Shawn Allen on September 06, 1999 at 04:24:49: : Tell your Doctors, and perhaps they will make the connection! How hard has it been for you to wean yourself from Paxil?
t understadn why your Doc is taking you off an anti-depressant like Zoloft (which by the way , is normally really good for Panic Attacks) and switching you to JUST Wellbutrin? What's the reason behind your Doc's switch so quickly from SSRIs to just SNRIs? That's why I asked if you are seeing a Psychiatrist or a General Doctor. If you are seeing a general Doctor, I'd see if switching to an actual SPECIALIST (A Psychiatrist) is a better avenue for you right now.
Because of the weight gain and the sexual dysfunction, I went off both meds and am now on wellbutrin and depakote. I am heterosexual but do not have a partner in my life right now. But on the paxil, I could not even masturbate to orgasm - I had no sensation of pleasure in the act whatsoever, and gradually, lost my libido as well.
I am real sensitive to medications and I am still fighting to stay awake during the day with the paxil and I take it at bedtime and sleep for 9 to 10 hours and by the time I get up I am so sleepy again in 2 hours.....but it seems to be getting a little better....paxil also makes me feel like I havent eatten at all....I can eat supper and my stomach doesnt feel full but about 10 minutes and it then feels like I am starving....I am so afraid of gaining alot of weight with this drug.....
I have been on Wellbutrin in the past and it has never helped with anxiety by itself. The combination of Lexipro and Wellbutrin has worked for me in the past. Increasing Lexipro to 20mg might help or you could ask your doctor about other anxiety medications. I heard that Paxil works well for some people. Good luck.
Over the next 15 years I tried Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, and several others. I always quit taking my meds because I never could feel as though they were doing anything, even though others around me said they could notice a difference..? Honestly, I don't feel "sad or blue" but I do have some s/s of depression. I'm more angry than "sad" and I have great anxiety and lots of stress. I have been taking xanax for about 3 years, and it seems like it's only thing that helps me.
I was advised of two options. Wean off of the Paxil CR and begin a regiment of Wellbutrin (300mg/day) immediately or discontinue the use of antidepressents all together and see what happens. I elected the first alternative. I have weaned off the Paxil CR, dropping to 12.5mg for one week, to 6.25mg for another (this was achieved by splitting the 12.5mg pill on doctors instructions even though the manufacturers instructions advise not to do this).
the combination of wellbutrin and effexor might just do the trick for you, assuming you have stopped or will stop the paxil. You can take wellbutrin any time during the day.
Since then I have been on Wellbutrin 300XL. After taking it for two months and I was feeling fantastic. I was happiest I had ever been in my life. I had more energy than ever and I was at my personal best. Just since last week it has totally stopped working for me. I feel down and careless. I can't be bothered to do anything. Even taking care of my kids has become a chore. I don't have any motivation and just want to avoid everbody and wish for the day to be over soon.
