I thought i was on zoloft with the paxil...but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy.

my doctor has me on paxil 40 mg and wellbutrin xl 300 mg ..... is this combination beneficial to me cuz every since i've combined the two i been feeling more depressed than ever and i cant sleep at night so she has me on restoril for that ..... am i heading in the right direction? or am i making things worse?
I have been taking a combination of Wellbutrin XR and Paxil CR for several years now. I do very well on this combination of medications. I asked my doctor recently about about trying Cymbalta because I have recentently learned I have arthritis in my low back and both hips. I would have to titrate off of my current meds first. His main remark was that if I am doing well on my current meds he didn't recommend the change.
I was still having some depression/anxiety issues so I saw a psychiatrist who changed me to wellbutrin 200mg twice a day and weaning off the paxil. I have been taking 10 mg of paxil for the last month and now am taking it every other day to wean off. In the last few days I have been so dizzy to the point of almost falling down and not sleeping well at night with crazy dreams. Is this all do to the new medicine or could it be something else.
s anyone out there who has ever been on the combination of Zoloft and Wellbutrin then please let me know how it worked and especially if they felt tired when they were on Zoloft by itself. I really feel like i'm at the end of my rope. I was doing well for a while and then things everything just seemed to wear off and I feel like I'm back at square one.
If your sleep pattern is continuing to disrupt your life, you may still need Paxil and/or Wellbutrin to correct it, so by all means take them!
Suri123's comments & sleep tips (above) are kind and well-meaning, but I've dealt with insomnia for years (before starting Paxil) and I just shake my head and roll my eyes when I hear the relaxation, diet and behavior tips that people give to insomniacs.
I tried Paxil for 2 weeks and it was the most emotional week. However, it did help me become more talkitive to people. But become very paranoid after - which is why I state emotional.
The hardest part for me, was getting off it. For three days, I had nothing but random crying spells. It was quite embrassed at school. At home my mom had to hug and comfort me, I didnt know why I was crying.
Everyone is different with Paxil however. Some people it works well and others it doesn't.
t ready to be impotent this early in my life. You may be right and the combination of Wellbutrin and quitting the Paxil are giving me so many problems. I think I'm going to try to work through the next few months and see if things get better and if I need to I'll go back on something like Zoloft. I just can't seem to get it right! I just wish I wasn't so off.
s when he told me i should take welbutrin and Paxil together for a few days and then once I feel better stop taking the paxil. That just doesn't sound right to me, you are going to feel better when you take something you're withdrawing from but get sick again once you stop. So right now I'm taking the wellbutrin 300 mg. I've been off paxil for a week, so the worst has passed. But i still feel horrible. Nausea, anxiety, poor appetite, diarrhea, dizzy.
I also had headaches (not anymore) intense anxiety for moments and muscle pain (on back and and abdomen) because I am very tense all the time. Yesterday was the worse of all. Horrible. The nausea was absolutely horrible, and I was so anxious that I felt like I was going to get crazy. And I am afraid that this is just starting.
I took 10 mg of Paxil cause I couldn`t stand it anymore. My questions are:
*Did I stop taking the Paxil very fast?
Thank you for responding :) I appreciate you popping in here, as I didn't realize it costs $15 to answer NEW questions in this forum. Yes these drugs are keeping my post-viral neuralgia and anxiety symptoms at bay. And I have weaned myself down to 15mg Paxil from 30mg over time. I've also lost 20 of my 50 "Paxil pounds." Good luck to everyone out there with these same issues!
Now, sometimes combining wellbutrin with an ssri such as Paxil will be done because that can help with the weight gain and sexual dysfunction problems, but quitting Paxil to go on wellbutrin is not likely to help with anxiety -- depression, maybe, but not anxiety because, again, wellbutrin is very stimulating. If this were me, I'd not take the Wellbutrin, stop the whole process, and get a psychiatrist before I proceeded further if your doc isn't one.
Sleep study also showed no REM sleep. I take paxil for anxiety, wellbutrin for mood and energy, and clonidine. Sleep doc wants me off paxil b/c of its effect on REM sleep. Could I take trazodone for anxiety with the wellbutrin? Or something else for anxiety that doesn't affect rem sleep?
I have been on Wellbutrin for 6 days and have already lost 2 lbs. But the downside of this all is I am having Paxil withdrawal. I started weaning myself off about 2 wks prior to starting Wellbutrin, but am still having symptoms. I haven't had a Paxil since I started the Wellbutrin 6 days ago because I was worried about mixing the two medications. The withdrawal symptoms I've been having are not severe, but enough to be a major annoyance to me.
So I went to my doctor and asked for wellbutrin hopeing I could lose weight and quit sleeping all the time on the paxil. But it has been 2 weeks now and my period started 2 days into it I am crying , feel like pukeing. Will this help me???

I thought the Wellbutrin would just sort of take over, but I don't think that is the case. I didn't think to ask my doc, and the soonest I can get back to see him is Monday. It's been 7 days w/o Paxil and 6 with Wellbutrin.

I am on Lithium and Wellbutrin, it totally rocks for me. I love wellbutrin, I lose weight, feel peppy and over all better. Oh yeah, no sucky depression! :0) I have not heard of angry outbursts on it, but if this came about after starting wellbutrin, then I would switch to a different anti-depressent. Some people can not tolerate Wellbutrin. This is my second time using it. I used it alone before I starting having manic spells. They put me back on it after I was on Lithium for a year.
Pristiq is approved for depression, but may also help with panic disorder and anxiety.
Depression is very normal. However, I have heard and gone through Paxil and that it can cause the opposite affect. It can make depression worse, and if you miss a dose you can see the difference right away. I did alot of research on paxil and worked in Doctors offices and have seen several cases of Paxil causes more harm than good. Don't get me wrong for some people Paxil is great and for others it is bad. The Dr.
Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.
My boyfriend has been on paxil since March, he was taking 40 mg of it a day. He has no sex drive and can't stay hard longer then 5 seconds. He cut his paxil by 25% each week and a week and a half ago he was started wellbutrin taking 300 mg and only 15 mg of paxil. 7 days ago he stopped paxikl completely.
