Paxil and remeron

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and remeron

paxil

Hi Doctor I have been off an SSRI for 2 years and I feel OK, I have low grade depression and social anxiety. When I first took Paxil like 8 years ago it worked wonders for my depression and anxiety. My hands stopped shaking in stressfull situations, I got a good job, I went out with friends, I felt 90% cured while on Paxil. I took celexa and lexapro after this with mixed results.
I always tell people not to take Remeron unless your severly underweight and need to put on pounds fast. Remeron makes Paxil look like a diet pill.
It evens out relatively fast. I've been taking Remeron for 4 seasons and it has lingered my depression, anger, irritability and even physical pain - not to forget: Anxiety. It is effective on anxiety too, and it helps one to easier fall asleep at night (if insomnia is caused by higher anxiety-levels or restlessness).
I suffer from severe depression. I have currently been on Paxil for 2 and a half months now (For the last 6-7 weeks I was boosted up to 40mg a day of Paxil that I take early in the morning) and my side effects are getting worse.
im a nurse and i have been on paxil since i was 13. the no sex drive thing stinks. going off paxil is really hard. i wish i never started it. the side effects with quitting are extreme.(vivid dreame, extreme emotional swings, nausa, weakness, dizziness, migranes, weight gain. the list goes on) did you consider another drug? some of the birth control pills help depression and anxiety. there are some other drugs out there with less side effects like cymbalta, zoloft, lexapro, celexa, buspar,.
Paxil and many other AD medications can have sexual side effects for both men and Women. This is actually quite common. She could talk to her Doctor about Welbutrin, but (in my experience) I have found Welbuterin to be almost completly non-effective. In double blind studies Welbutrin is shown to not be as effective as SSRI and SNRI medications. It is a good add on drug, but alone it may not have enough positive effect on your wifes depression.
Right now my doctor wants me to try to come back to paxil and wean off elavil (i still have panic attacks on it) Took only 1 dose of paxil 12.5 mg and 10 mg elavil and my symptoms start again, (anxiety, panic attacks) Is thsi common to have anxiety when starting paxil again?
I have recently been switched to it from Paxil CR for GAD and Panic Disorder. Everything I read it states mostly used for Major Depression. I'm just wondering if anybody has had success with it for Anxiety?
ive been taking remeron for 1 month now(30mg) with xanax(1mg 4/day) and had bad nausea problems, constipation, and and vomiting so my doctor told me to stop the remeron. how long does remeron take to leave your system?
I was recently given a prescription for Remeron and though it seems to help with general depression and anxiety, it also seems to make me very tired. I mean VERY tired! It also gives the worst constipation. Worse than any other anti-depressant that I've tried in the past few years. It seems that Zoloft was the easiest as far as the side effects thought they were still bothersome. I went with Paxil for a while and the withdrawals were absolutely unbearable!
Recently came off of Paxil and had terrible withdrawl symptons doing so. My doc put my on Remeron which helped tremedously getting me off Paxil. Now about to go on Prozac (was on this back in 94 and it was a miracle drug for me) My doctor is going to keep me on a low dose of Remeron for about 3 weeks to help with an side effects from my body geeting use to theProzac anyone else been on both of these meds at the same time?
It was perscribed for me to help me with my Paxil withdrawls (which it did) About 3 1/2 weeks ago I started on Prozac and my doc told me to stay on the Remeron for a while longer. I'm now ready to come off of the Remeron. I've read were Remeron is one of the easier drugs to come off of.... also were I am now on Prozac would it be unlikely that I would suffer any severe withdrawls from the Remeron?
How well can Effexor XR 150 mg plus Remeron 15 mg help depression, and how long does it take to see any improvement?
Remeron 3 weeks ago after 5 months of trying Paxil (didn't work), Effexor (worked but didn't won't to have to up the dose to get the full benefits because of bad withdrawals), Lexapro(way too stimulating even though I take 3 mg. Klonopin a day and was only taking 5 mg.) and now Remeron. After 2 weeks on the Remeron, I feel calm and relaxed like I haven't felt in so long, not to mention being able to sleep at night (I was sleeping maybe 3 hours a night but a restless sleep).
I had a hard time keeping my eyes open and was sleeping a lot when I was taking Paxil. I seem to be having a hard time concentrating and may need to talk to my doctor about trying some kind of ADD medication. I would rather be on medications that are more of a stimulant than sedative.
My wife has been taking Paxil for several years now and I have noticed several major changes in her. First she has no sexual desire at all anymore. None. Second she has lost almost all compassion. It is like most of her emotions have gone. Last thing I have noticed is weight gain. I would say 40 lbs in the last couple years.Any ideas for help?
DONT DO IT!!! PAXIL AND EFFEXOR ARE BOTH HIGHLY ADDICTIVE AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY FIGHTING TO GET THEIR LIVES BACK FROM THIS CRIPPLING CREEPING ADDICTION!!! Wyeth is a disgrace. To know that they were and are fully aware of the physiological addiction of Effexor XR and have not made such information publically available is sickening. When starting Effexor a year ago, I was brought up to a dose of 300mg/day.
I just wanted to say that I was on Paxil for at least a year and gained about 40 lbs. I felt terrible so I asked my doctor to switch me to something else and he put me on Celexa. I know, because I read, that a lot of other people have been having the same horrible effect from Paxil. This is my 2nd month on Celexa and I have already lost 15 lbs and counting. I know everyone reacts differently to medications but I just wanted to share my positive story.
Please educate yourself on the effects Paxil can, and most likely will, have on you or whomever uses it and attempts to stop taking the drug. I am a current sufferer of Paxil Withdrawal. Please read the following information... PAXIL WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS MIMIC HEROIN WITHDRAWAL! posted by Shawn Allen on September 06, 1999 at 04:24:49: : Tell your Doctors, and perhaps they will make the connection! How hard has it been for you to wean yourself from Paxil?
And don't rule out some continuation of Paxil withdrawal, since you didn't finish it, you medicated it. And since remeron and Prozac work differently, and since Prozac and Paxil work differently, no, taking one doesn't necessarily do anything about the withdrawal from the other except medicate it. It might work, but it might not. The best book I've read about this, in fact the only one I've found, is The Antidepressant Solution by Joseph Glanville.
My hope is that when I go back to see my Doc in a couple of weeks I'll feel better and be able to get of the Remeron and my body will have adjusted to the Prozac
I've been on a couple of different SSRI's Paxil(generic) and now on Prozaz. I have noticed that my memory doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be. I've always attributed to getting older and having a ton more stress in my life. I've done a lot of research on SSRI side effects and have never seen anything documented about memory loss. Getting off of Paxil (if that's what you decide to do) is very difficult.
Other medications with low or no incidence of sexual dysfunction include Wellbutrin and Remeron. You may want to discuss other alternatives regarding your present medications to your physician.
I am a 47-year-old woman with a history of depression and allergies. I have been taking Paxil for about 10 years, and I also take Remeron for sleep difficulties; previously I took Trazodone but changed to Remeron about four months ago. I also take Zyrtec, Humibid, and Sudafed for allergies. I am in good health otherwise. I have been experiencing progressively worsening impairment of short-term memory.
5mg 3 times daily for social anxiety disorder and obbsessive-compulsive didorder. I've been on Paxil for about 9-10 weeks now and Klonopin for a few weeks.I see my psychiatrist tommorrow. The Klonopin has helped a lot with my anxiety but from the beggining 0.5 mg 3x daily wasn't enough to decrease my anxiety to a cofortable level, now the anxiety is getting worse again. After the Klonopin has taken effect it usually lasts maybe only 2 hours at the most, then some of the anxiety returns.
I have been taking Paxil for approximately 2 years and I have weaned myself off once during this time period. I took myself off very gradually over a period of 6 weeks. I quickly began feeling physically ill as if I had the flu or a viral infection. After my physician did over $700 in lab work to rule out other illnesses, we both came to the conclusion that my symptoms were actually a return of my anxiety.
He says he would rather have a few side effects than have his anxiety attacks and when he misses his medication he can feel bad things happening, and I try to tell him it's the withdrawl of his medication that is at fault. I guess I'm curious if there is some other (natural)way of treating this that does not involve his mental health since I know that these drug alter the way his brain works. Or if anything some other drug (God forbid) that is better designed to cure what he has??
I take 150 mg in the morning and 150 at night. I cant go off paxil, it has really helped and my life has changed so much from it.
