Paxil and remeron

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and remeron

paxil

Avatar f tn Recently came off of Paxil and had terrible withdrawl symptons doing so. My doc put my on Remeron which helped tremedously getting me off Paxil. Now about to go on Prozac (was on this back in 94 and it was a miracle drug for me) My doctor is going to keep me on a low dose of Remeron for about 3 weeks to help with an side effects from my body geeting use to theProzac anyone else been on both of these meds at the same time?
Avatar n tn How well can Effexor XR 150 mg plus Remeron 15 mg help depression, and how long does it take to see any improvement?
Avatar f tn It's possible, but at this point, three drugs, three sets of problems, so no way to tell. It doesn't sound like a particularly harsh withdrawal if it is one, but it does have that classic Paxil ring to it.
Avatar m tn After a failed attempt to fix my anxiety and subsequent depression that has come from it over the last 14 weeks with Lexapro and Paxil, my psych is switching me too Remeron (Mirtazapine) 30mgs. I started my first dose last night and already started my taper down of Paxil CR 50mg to Paxil CR 37.5 and hold there for a week. I also take Clonazepam 1mg at night to help me sleep due to the paxil. And I take Clonazepam .25mg dissolvable tablets during the day as needed for anxiety.
Avatar n tn You want to talk about weight gain? OMG! Remeron makes Paxil look like a diet pill! Taking Remeron is like wanting to be fat.
Avatar f tn Never been on it, but remember, we're all different. And don't rule out some continuation of Paxil withdrawal, since you didn't finish it, you medicated it. And since remeron and Prozac work differently, and since Prozac and Paxil work differently, no, taking one doesn't necessarily do anything about the withdrawal from the other except medicate it. It might work, but it might not.
Avatar m tn Hi Doctor I have been off an SSRI for 2 years and I feel OK, I have low grade depression and social anxiety. When I first took Paxil like 8 years ago it worked wonders for my depression and anxiety. My hands stopped shaking in stressfull situations, I got a good job, I went out with friends, I felt 90% cured while on Paxil. I took celexa and lexapro after this with mixed results.
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar m tn I had a hard time keeping my eyes open and was sleeping a lot when I was taking Paxil. I seem to be having a hard time concentrating and may need to talk to my doctor about trying some kind of ADD medication. I would rather be on medications that are more of a stimulant than sedative.
Avatar m tn The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects. I was then put on regular paxil 40 mg daily and I constantly had the eye zaps and strong depersonalization feelings like I was in a constant withdrawal. I was then switched to Lexapro 20 mg.
Avatar m tn I have friends who lost weight on paxil with a strict diet and exercise program. But I also have friends on paxil who could not lose the weight no matter what they did. The weight will come off when you discontinue the medication - or switch to a medication that has less of a chance of causing weight gain (ie. Prozac). Serotonin is a neurotransmitter involved in regulating mood.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Paxil, Clonazepam and Remeron. I sleep good at night because the Remeron (30mg) knocks me out, but I awake to a low level anxiety every day. I have reduced my Paxil from 50 mgs to 12.5mgs over the past 4 months. I have reduced my Clonazepam from 1.5mgs a day to .75mgs a day as well. I want to focus on getting the Clonazepam out first. I was originally given it to help with sleep, but now since I have the remeron I don't feel it is necesarry.
Avatar n tn Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects. Did a great job for me! Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety. However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
Avatar f tn I had terrible anxiety, and am now on 150mg Effexor XR. All the anxiety and panics have gone and I feel relaxed. No anxiety, no panics. Magic!!
Avatar m tn I have also tried paxil, WellbutrinXL, and Prozac. These made me more depressed. I guess i just need some help as to what else is out there that works... I really don't have anyone that can relate to my depression so hoping someone in here can...
Avatar m tn For the better part of 10 years my issue was controlled through paxil or paxil cr and a little bit of Clonazepam. Over the past year, my anxiety has gotten much worse and paxil doesn't seem to work anymore like it did. Over the past 5 months I have come off of paxil, switched to Lexapro, switched back to Paxil CR upping my dose (50mg) to see if that would work. Clonazepam was increased to 1mg at night and .25mg in the morning and afternoon. Still the anxiety came...
574042 tn?1217656418 I will say though, it helped my Headaches. I was eventually taken off of the Remeron and put on something else and for the life of me, can't remember what it was. It started with an L I think. It's been a while since I've taken an Anti-Depressant. I would suggest that if it hasn't worked in the next month or so to talk with your Doctor and switch to something different. If I remember the name of the drug I took I'll let you know. It worked great with no weight gain.
459689 tn?1276570143 i tried paxil and wellbutrin a few years ago and they both immediately made me feel jittery and even more anxious and i was advised to go off of them. i may be losing a very good paying job soon and i want to stay on something that i can get generic...i ask my doc if i could take remeron on an as needed basis to sleep and did last night and had me first good sleep in 7 days. i am afraid of getting addicted to needed something to aid my sleep and would rather not go down that road.
Avatar f tn For several years now I've been taking Remeron, Paroxitine, Wellbutrin XL and Lithium; everything is at the top dosage. Only the Wellbutrin and Lithium I take during the day. These drops have been going on for quite some time, but now are the very worst they have been. Last year I had to quit a part time job because of this and got on the sub list. Mornings are my best times til 9:30am, I push myself thru chores and if I do go to work I pray that is only for 3.5hrs.
256161 tn?1196879046 The first weeks on Remeron are hang-over days for me. I wake up as if I have been drinking heavy. It evens out relatively fast. I've been taking Remeron for 4 seasons and it has lingered my depression, anger, irritability and even physical pain - not to forget: Anxiety. It is effective on anxiety too, and it helps one to easier fall asleep at night (if insomnia is caused by higher anxiety-levels or restlessness).
Avatar f tn I do know that Paxil, Nortriptilyne, and Remeron are very much associated with massive weight gain in most people. (may want to stay clear of them if weight is an issue.
Avatar n tn t say this since I work for a pharma company that *cough* is involed in the creation of some of these drugs, but frankly, I would stay away from Paxil. I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and panic, and I did try Paxil initially to help with the symptoms. It actually made them much worse and had a lot of very unpleasant side effects.
Avatar m tn There is also Wellbutrin which could be worth a try although it is stimulating to a lot of people and Remeron. The wellbutrin and remeron won't kill your sex drive as much, but the withdrawal from remeron will probably be equally as severe as the ssris. How much therapy have you actually done? You may need to keep looking for a therapist that will actually help. Some simply aren't as good. You also have to really force yourself to go and really try hard.
1305767 tn?1361192676 I've just started taking it after trying numerous other drugs for anxiety. (Lexapro, Celexa, Paxil, Remeron) Right now I don't like how shortly after taking a 10 mg pill I get dizzy and "brain zaps" (which is normally a symptom of SSRI discontinuation). These side effects go away within a couple of hours but I am curious if Buspar has helped anyone with their anxiety in the long run or am I just wasting my time with this drug.
