pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Hi Tony! I've been voraciously reading your group's postings/answers. My dog was perfectly fine with SLIGHT high BUN (35-38). I put her on the NF diet in an effort to keep the kidney disease at bay, and suddenly her pancreatitis went crazy! She got very ill and didn't want to eat. I tried to put her back on her old food to get her back to normal, but it was too late. She's been hospitalized for four days. Her BUN/Creat "stabilized" at 116/6.7.

Avatar f tn Over the last 17 years I have been - (and all are confirmed except the pancreatitis) with all of the chronic and incurable diseases listed in the title. I also have an extremely bad (painful) back and was even confined to a wheel chair for a few weeks until I received successful epidural blocks. Now, I am being treated for Pancreatitis which I first heard of 3 weeks ago when I finally went to the GI doc (again). BTW - I am a GI docs dream constant cash flow.
Avatar f tn My family physician discovered that I have Sjogren's Syndrome with fibromyalgia 7 months ago. Since that time I have been diagnised with chronic pancreatitis, gastroparesis and sarcoidosis. Is there a possibility that these diseases are related? She has attempted to treat the pancreatitis and the digestive issues but have yet to be treated in any way for the Sjogren's or the sarcoidosis. Is this proper protocol?
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.
Avatar m tn MY tests have been within normal range for two years but with FT3 in the lower third of the rage.. I have few symptoms except for for nightime sweats which I understand are a levo side-effect. Do I have to take it for the rest of my life?
Avatar f tn Possibly autoimmune disease of the thyroid may be associated wit autoimmune pancreatic disease(and cause problems such as Type 1 diabetes) but not pancreatic disease in the sense of pancreatitis. Autoimmune thyroid disease is linked with Type 1 diabetes as they both are atleast partially immune mediated, but having one does not automatically mean you will develop the other. You do have to be on the look out for it though.

1406332 tn?1315962760 This test is done primarily to assist in the diagnosis of hepatic and bone disease. The clinical implications vary and with a mild elevation it may be found with viral hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, large doses of Vit D and leukemia. Moderately elevated levels are found with infectious mononucleosis, pancreatitis, pregnancy, hepatic duct obstruction, etc. I'm unsure what the Gamma protein is about was there another name for it? Gamma globulin?
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar f tn My puppy has been in and out of the vets office more times than I care to count since we got her in May. This little Chessie is just miserable. She will be great for a few days and then within a matter of a few hours she can be in pain and so sick. I am able to do IVs at home if I need to, but my question is what do you get them to eat? Pumpkin she loves...yogurt at times. She was eating ground turkey with rice and cottage cheese....but now she won't even look at the turkey...
Avatar f tn I want You to know that I DO understand !! and You verbalize it so eloquently. All of my life my Mother was Your Husband (so in essence, I was Your Children) and my beloved Father was You. You speak the pain and despair that was my Father's and the care and concern He had for the Wife He once loved with all His Heart.
Avatar n tn She lived a happy healthy life until she was 16 and had her euthanased due to general frailty, weakness and age. The bonus of the disease was that due to the extra steroid production, her arthritis improved significantly and her old age was improved because of the Cushings. By the way I don't understand why the vet gave her cortisol. I understand that my story might be a one off and I hope someone else has some more information for you.
Avatar f tn The most common symptoms are- muscle weakness, twitching (fasciculation) and cramping of muscles, mostly in the hands and feet, impairment and difficulty of the use of the arms and legs, thick speech, shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing and swallowing. Muscle weakness is the specific initial sign in ALS, but early symptoms vary from person to person. It may start with tripping, dropping things, abnormal fatigue of the arms and/or legs, slurred speech, muscle cramps or twitches.
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn According to docs a biopsy is unnecessary because the treatment is the same and his body may not handle the procedure well. The last hospitalization was in August 2014 and he had to be removed from the home in a stretcher because he was non-responsive. He was intubated and remained in hospital for 1 week. He was told by ER doc if he did not stop drinking he would not make it past 2 years.

1481080 tn?1287590520 My next ERCP will be Nov. 5th for the removal of the stent and cutting the bile duct side. I wonder if this med. will cause any problems, or help me avoid a repeat of the pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn There can also be a possible increase in other diseases such as pancreatitis and bronchiectasis, which is a chronic disease of the lungs that is characterized by abnormally dilated bronchi and a predisposition to recurrent infection. Thus there is reason to suspect that being a carrier has predisposed you to excessive mucus production. Given the mucus abnormalities in CF, the viscosity and/or other features of this mucus might be abnormal for the same reason.
Avatar f tn My husband is 33 and has been experiencing LUQ pain for about 4 months. He does have good days (few and far between) where he can eat normally (3 meals/day etc) but then there are days where eating puts him into excruciating pain. There are also days where he eats nothing and is still in pain. Our GI doctor has suggested a pancreas problem.

Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
Avatar f tn The second was a month ago as i had pancreatitis which was bought on by the ERCP which had been performed the same day and i was in hospital for 9 days, when leaving the hospital i was still in some pain but they said my bloods had all gone back to normal and the pain would just ease away.
1928356 tn?1323068531 My vet has told me that all that I am doing for him for the kidney failure - sub q fluids, 6-8 small meals a day, love and attention - is the same care recommended for the pancreatitis. I did get an additional holistic medication for the pancreatitis. His stomach and entire system is so sensitive these days that there are things that I would like to give him but can't on a regular basis - like fish oil, renatrophin, vitamin e, because too many things causes him to feel sick.
Avatar n tn David, is there is any tie-in between your having pancreatitis and any gallbladder malfunctioning? If there is, and if the gallbladder issue isn't cleared up, the pancreatitis could reoccur. Also, make sure the pancreatitis is not due to an autoimmune issue. If it is, it needs to be treated 'differently.
Avatar m tn As I have dealt with the issue of chronic pancreatitis for over 10 years now, and have two pseudo cysts removed in the past, and knowing that I could have a higher risk of pancreatic cancer, whenever there is a moderate increase of pain and/or nausea or other symptoms, at least one my doctors usually orders a ct scan.
