Avatar n tn I have some pain all the time and eating anything causes more pain. The second pattern is when a person has intermmitent pain like with acute pancreatitis. I feel extremely fortunate to have a diagnosis made in only 8 months. I can only imagine what some have been through waiting for years and not knowing. Lor--have you read anywhere (I have) that a spinchterotomy can cause longterm problems with, for lack of a better word, splashback of the partially digested food and juices into the ducts?
10805050 tn?1420939120 Somehow when I went through 7 months in hospital and Skilled nursing facility from major Cirrhosis problems cause by Portal Hypertension, my Hep C never attacked. My viral load is extremely low at 15,283. I have never had treatment for it and my liver seems to be fighting it, the Dr. says. Of course it could pop it's nasty face at me at any given moment, so I am definitely interested in treatment.

Avatar f tn You need to get listed for a transplant at the center and have a hepatologist manage your care up until transplant and the transplant center will monitor you for the rest of your life. Where do you live? Near San Diego or LA. In San Diego Dr. Gish will help you. In LA there are a number of excellent transplant centers. You are young so you should be able to bounce back quicker than us old folks in our 50-60s. Cheers!
Avatar f tn Hello everyone! I wanted to make sure that I let you know what has gone on today. This morning my stepmom woke up in a horrible mood. Which as you know from what my Mom writes that's not very uncommon. The doctor came in and let us know that Dad's lipase level just doesn't seem to want to go down at all. They think that this is his new "normal" lipase level for him. They say that the damage he has done to his pancreas is permanant.
1932256 tn?1327949940 the drinking is only making the withdrawals worse, and this is going to keep going on while he's weaning? he will also have to get off the alcohol as well, so there goes more withdrawals on top of everything else. He's just going round and round. I was getting deeply depressed while on my pain meds, and then the doctor wanted to " fix" that with antidepressants! I thought, another pill to fix the other pill? No way!

Avatar f tn The autopsy showed she had acute pancreatitis cause by debris in her pancreas which led to multiple organ failure. No reason for it, she wasn't. A big drinker and was a healthy 66 year old. My mum really was my best friend, we did everything together. If I didn't see her for a day I would be in the phone several times a day. Nearly a year on I still cry myself to sleep every night. It makes me so sad she now won't get to see her grandchildren grow up and she lived for them.
Avatar n tn Until the person reaches this point there are only educated guesses This is only reliable in the face of supportive care only. In other words no heroics. And an accurate assessment of level of consciousness may be skewed in the presence of drugs used to make the person comfortable. However, there is validity to the premise that pain will actually keep you alive longer, and it's always an ongoing challenge to find the balance of pain and/or anxiety control.

280891 tn?1261016650 The drugs the doctors give us just cover up this problem. We all must design a plan for ourselve since we are all different. Important to get the knowledge as to how we can follow a healthy lifestyle. Everyone must take control of their own life and address their individual illness by trying to eliminate the toxins and giving the body what it needs to get rid of the toxins which are in the body. Real healing comes from the body.
Avatar f tn In random studies, about 3% of those who test positive have ever been diagnosed before the study). Good news is that a diet change takes care of the symptoms. For any for whom wine is the main culprit, sulfite sensitivity can be the issue.
Avatar n tn I am on 24mg...I have tried to go down to 18mg but I felt too sick. I plan on reducing by 2 mg/week until I hit 18mg...then I will decrease by 1mg/week. I might have to do every 2 weeks at the lower doses. I wish I could come up with a magic solution but discomfort is inevitable. Under 15mg is going to be hard but 0mg will be interesting to say the least. It doesn't hit you until you have taken nothing for a couple of days due to the long life of methadone.
Avatar f tn She is still accepting water and Pedialyte, but very little. She has given up now. I plan to hold her throughout the night to talk to her and tell her it is O.K. to go. My family wanted to be here to support us tomorrow morning, but you know, Cissy would not want that, she is a daddy and mama's girl so it will just be the four of us: daddy, mommy, Sandy and Charleston.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you have an awesome plan. Stick with it buddy. Best of luck to you and come back and talk to us. I'm on day 6 and feeling so very much better. We will be thinking about you and praying for you too!
