3100626 tn?1341387176 IBS pain can often feel like gynecologic pain or ovarian cyst/fibroid pain so is often confused with these problems. However, if your recent ultrasound didn't find any ovarian cysts or problems with the ovaries or tubes, then your pain may be more related to the bowel than the ovaries. You still should continue to see your gynecologist to follow this and be sure. Furthermore, you should consider seeing a gastroenterologist as well as they are physicians that can help with bowels.
Avatar n tn There is a regrowth pattern with ovaries it is called Ovarian Remmanet Syndrome May I suggest you to the forum for ovarian cysts there you will get the answers you need, there are other women there that have ORS any small piece of the ovary that is left after the surgery can regenerate the tissue and cysts can grow on them. This needs to be followed up because ovarian cancer can also be generated from these growths.
Avatar n tn Up to 14% of women that have gone through menopause get cysts. There is a wide range of normal for size of ovaries. Ovarian cancer is hard to predict and size of ovaries is not used to do so. But what prompted this question? Are you having issues with your ovaries? Or did you have a concerning exam?
Avatar f tn I find often that women who have chronic pelvic pain are talked into believing that 1-2 cm cysts are causing their problems. These cysts are normal and are almost always present on every woman's ovaries. I hope this is not what your doctors are talking about too! Your problem is a difficult one--chronic pain in the pelvic area, and believe it or not, often results from some sort of major physical/psychological trauma that becomes worse and worse over time.
Avatar f tn Have you had any ovarian cysts or other issues in the past? I frequently get sharp pains lower abdomen. Likely they are result of the digestive system slowing for increased absorption or things stretching around to make room for baby. I have endometriosis and still have some adhesions that can hurt like heck as the baby starts to grow. However, your doctor should include your ovaries in your ultrasound just to make sure everything is in the right place.
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to talk to a Gynocologist/Oncologist soon. I am very concerned. I was diagnosed with Complex Ovarian Cysts. They said both ovaries have fluid & hard cysts on them. Both ovaries are 7cm (grown some from 6 week ultrasound). My Gynocolgist did a CA125 test - my number came back 1000. Anyone have similar experience?
Avatar f tn old and has been to the hospital twice in two years w/ severe abdominal pain. The first time they performed an ultra sound and confirmed she had a cyst on her ovaries-told her it would burst eventually. The second time which was approximately one week ago they did not do an ultrasound, but told her the pain was due to a cyst on her ovaries. My concerns are could she have ovarian cancer-one of my friends daughters died at the age of 27 due to ovarian cancer. Please advise.
Avatar n tn Since my gyno continues to tell me my gas, bloating, constant BMs and lower left-sided pelvic pain is NOT related to my ovarian cysts, she sent me to a gastroenterologist. I had a CT scan yesterday that only showed my IUD and "bilateral prominent ovaries". I briefly spoke with the GI doctor who said this could be due to my menstrual cycle. Since having the IUD, I have not had a period now in over a year. And he did say "prominent" meant "enlarged". So.....
Avatar f tn I suffed from ovarian cysts since I was 14.. I'm 34 now and have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome.. though I haven't had a cyst that has caused me pain or discomfort in years.. The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun..
Avatar n tn Cysts in the ovaries are sign of PCOS. There is no known cure for PCOS. I have PCOS too. Doctor will put you on BCP to regularize your periods if you are not ttc. Usually they put you on metformin that takes of the cysts to some extent. What treatment are you going through?
Avatar f tn i am 44 and currently going through menopause. my hormone levels were checked and confirmed. i haven't had a period in 6 months. now i developed cysts on both ovaries and they are very painful. there are no signs so far for cancer. my doctor wants to remove the cysts. i'm o.k. with this, but he wants to remove my ovaries at the same time. he said they are not really working anymore. i will have to go on hormone therapy. i'm afraid, i've heard so many conflicting reports.
9923140 tn?1407723429 So I've been having this sharp pain in my ovaries almost all day today. It goes up to my back. I'm 22weeks pregnant. I asked of of my my friends that works w me and she had a baby is that's normal and she said yes is that the baby is growing. Is that true?
Avatar f tn From what I have read most ovarian cysts, even in post-menopausal women, are benign and don't require intervention. This website by a reputable ob/gyn addresses this at the bottom of the webpage with the heading "Can an ovarian cyst form after menopause." http://www.ovaryresearch.com/ovarian_cysts.htm Absent a genetic predisposition for ovarian cancer such as BRCA1+ or BRCA2+, a woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is less than 2%, 1.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
Avatar n tn I had my uterus removed then the ovaries due to ovarian cyst and then a third surgery for an ovary remnant(lucky me). Its been a year and now I have pain where my internal surgical staples are, should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn ) I am 15 and you might think hey what do I know but my mother has had cysts in her ovaries and had to have surgery to remove them. I think that if you are having cysts in your ovaries you should very well get the cysts removed, maybe asking a doctor whether or not getting your ovaries removed might prevent getting more cysts in the future.
Avatar n tn Nope ovarian cysts don't cause back pain. I had ovarian cysts and most of my pain was where the ovaries were.
Avatar f tn However after a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer, the preserved ovaries are more likely to produce big ovarian cysts. This may be due to the altered blood supply to the ovaries after hysterectomy. Also when removing ovaries as a second surgery after hysterectomy, there is more scar tissue and more chance of a remnant syndrome. I agree with Neta. If you are not getting a satisfactory reccomendation, please get a second opinion. Also this surgery can be very complex.
168348 tn?1379357075 I have MSK which is Medullary Sponge Kidney and many times the question comes up if there is a corellation between MSK and Ovarian Cysts. Same holds true with thyroid patients ... many ask oftentimes if there is an association between Ovarian Cysts and Thyroid conditions. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I am CL of the Thyroid Disorders and post on the new MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) Community ..
Avatar m tn I had a partial (everything but ovaries) 3 years ago and the ovaries a year ago. I wasn't pain free until the ovaries were gone. I kept being diagnosed w/IBS but I knew that wasn't right. I kept having pain every 30 days even though I didn't have a period any longer.
Avatar n tn i had a mri for hip pain and it came back with ovarian cysts and bone cysts is there a connection?
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn Marcy First off if you are worried about ovarian cancer it is extremely rare on both ovaries. If it were on both ovaries it would have spread more and be clear on the ultrasound that it was cancer. 98.6% of cysts are not cancer. A normal woman has a 1.4% chance of ovarian cancer in a life time. It is lower if you are younger. If you had the BRCA gene, women in your family with early ovarian cancer the chances are 20%. If your Gyn is doing a cystectomy that is great.
Avatar f tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar n tn A couple of months ago I developed severe pain and discovered I had developed 3 cysts on my right ovary - 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm and 3.3 cm and one 4.0 cm on my left. During my followup ultra sound it is discovered that now - not in addition to, have one functional cyst on my left ovary about 15 mm that depics blood tissue as well and one complex cyst on my right ovary that is 15 mm that is suspicous. The doctor has recommended that the ovary be removed. They did a CA125 and the value was 12.
Avatar f tn This word in parentheses I never seen or heard of referring to ovarian cysts of ovaries the word complicated what could that mean and is it something to worry about or be concerned about.
