Avatar f tn Thank you. So, I go in for another liver enzyme blood test in a month. I guess I should stop taking both omenprazole and zantac until then? Is that what you would do? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Stool color has everything to do with speed of digestion, and also is an indicator of bile/liver function. Green stools are a result of rapid digestion, very pale stools are usually a result poor pancreatic/liver functions. If you have a concern, I'd ask your doctor for a blood test to determine organ function.

1422878 tn?1284584593 Hence if both ankles and legs are swelling then you will need to get heart function assessed by ECHO and EKG, get kidney and liver function tests done and get a complete blood picture for anemia. Low sodium in blood, hypothyroidism and malabsorption syndromes causing low protein in blood have to be looked into. Commonest cause of chronic nausea is acidity. Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause.
Avatar f tn Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
Avatar f tn There are two major possibilities. Either your liver function is not too good or you have a gastric ulcer. Get a liver function, kidney function test, test for hypothyroidism and diabetes. These will rule out the general causes for loss of appetite. It could be that you are depressed or anxious. Energy drinks etc also if consumed decrease the appetite. For gastric function, try OTC omeprazole with antacids. Keep a diet chart and note your food intake in that. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Since you have pain in right upper quadrant and no CT and ultrasound abnormality, it is important to get liver function and pancreatic function tests done. Liver and pancreatic enzymes can give an indication of their abnormal function. Other than this it can be a bleeding duodenal ulcer resulting in anemia. This can be confirmed by occult blood test in stool which looks for hidden blood, endoscopy and the fact that the pain responds to antacid, omeprazole, cold milk etc.

Avatar n tn Has been thought to be pancreatitis but never showed up in the tests. Have had some liver function test abnormalities but these vary between slightly raised and normal. Have a small liver cyst on ultrasound. Symptoms infrequent at first, now increasing in frequency and accompanied by additional symptoms (a general tendency for increased blood sugars, accompanied by sudden lows and very fast drops), intermittent spikes in bp and sinus tachycardia, intermittent diaorrhea.
Avatar m tn ve been on Crestor but the general approach when initiating statin use is to get a baseline liver function test and then check again in a few months. Despite that fact that statins can cause elevated liver enzymes it is not clear that liver damage results from statin induced enzyme elevation. This is something to discuss with your doctor. There have been articles which raise the possibility that Omeprazole might adversely affect the liver but there is not much evidence in support.

Avatar m tn rarely omeprazole could do it. sometimes the ALT can fluctuate inconsequentially.

Avatar n tn your billirubin levels usually rise when the liver is having trouble producing bile or bile thickens. this can be caused by a couple of things, most often it is a sign of dissapearing bile ducts in the liver. when you body is unable to process the bile your total and conjicated billi levels will go up. you can tell when your billi lever are rising if, you start to experience itchiness, jaundice of the eyes or skin. itching will be the first sign.
Avatar f tn I did some research online and read that Omeprazole can cause Hepatitis and liver issues. This concerns me greatly because I already have Hepatitis C and a swollen liver. Should I stop taking Omeprazole? Please help. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I had an aunt who died from liver cancer and her liver function tests were normal until the end stages. However, it is common to have cysts in the liver and fatty areas that aren't a problem. When I was dx they found a hemangioma in my liver and another cyst and there were two cysts in my kidneys. Before my surgery, I thought this must indicate cancer had spread there only to find out that most of us do have some sort of cyst congenitally or as we age. My dr.
678069 tn?1254422777 Well, not only did my latest bloodwork show all my blood counts are good, but my liver function is now NORMAL!! Are you kidding me?? Its been a long time since that was the case. I couldnt believe it when my Dr said it. I could definitely get used to hearing that! Add to all that the fact that my side effects are minimal. The only thing I deal with on a regular basis is mild fevers. But Advil usually takes care of it.
Avatar n tn My GGT on my Liver Function Test is very high. I am taking Phentoins for epilsepy and wonder if this is the cause.

Avatar m tn In Total liver Function Laboratory Blood Test results (Alanine Amino Transferase Serum) conducted for Total Liver Function shows presence of low ALT or low SGPT levels of 14 . This result is quite below the range limits specified in the lab. test report which is between 17-63 .. Please intimate what will happen if it further reduces in the ALT levels and how to increase the ALT levels or how to come out from this problem . * Is it relates to early death of a person ?.
