Avatar m tn It can affect liver too and cause inflammation of the liver. This can cause raised liver enzymes. If the enzymes are normal, then pancreatitis, duodenal ulcer, and uncontrolled inflammation in Crohn’s should be ruled out. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Also, please consult your gastroenterologist to further manage Crohn’s. Take care!
Avatar m tn I had a physical for a job, and my liver alt was high at 82. After a week with no alcohol or Tylenol it went up to 97 a weeks later 170. I then spotted omeprazole for 10 days and it was at 106. I just had a liver ultrasound and everything came back normal. What can the problem be? Can omeprazole cause this?
Avatar n tn I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level. I really dont want to upset my stomach by flooding with drugs. By the way, can the disease damage any joints in the later years even though drugs are being taken to control it. What are the percentage of recovery or is there any case of having full recovery.
Avatar n tn this is due to the fact that your body is unable to process the salts in your body due to the dysfuntion of the billirubinary tree and liver, so the salt rises to the top of the skin. in addition early signs of high billi levels can be spotted in your urine. Medicines that can help thin bile are availible by perscription. The most common is usro or usodile, which you usually take two to three times daily. consult your hepatologist for more information. hope this helped.
Avatar f tn Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
Avatar f tn I did some research online and read that Omeprazole can cause Hepatitis and liver issues. This concerns me greatly because I already have Hepatitis C and a swollen liver. Should I stop taking Omeprazole? Please help. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Everything ingested into the body, including foods and medications, enters the bloodstream through the digestive tract and travels to the liver. Most medications metabolize, or break down, in the liver and some such as Ambien may break down into substances that can damage liver cells. I hope you are seeing a hepatologist as they can best advise you about Ambien and it's effects on your liver.

Avatar f tn I am now on week six so this has dramatically changed my social life and I am now on 20mg of omeprazole. For the first month it started ok. I cut Alcohol, spicy food, all fizzy drinks, orange juice. Now I'm faced with crippling stomach pain, the belching is back and as worse as when I used to drink. I throw up bright yellow acidic sick and have diarohea frequently. I have to wait 2 weeks till my GP appointment. I'm still taking omeprazole, I'm exhausted and I need help.
Avatar n tn Have had some liver function test abnormalities but these vary between slightly raised and normal. Have a small liver cyst on ultrasound. Symptoms infrequent at first, now increasing in frequency and accompanied by additional symptoms (a general tendency for increased blood sugars, accompanied by sudden lows and very fast drops), intermittent spikes in bp and sinus tachycardia, intermittent diaorrhea. Last scans (MRI) in 2006 were clear. Chromogranin-A now come back at 199.
Avatar m tn I drank a few beers 3 days before the test and take Tylenol here and there. I spoke with my doctor and said stop alcohol and tylenol tested week later and alt went up to 97. Tested another week later and alt jumped to 170. I am about 40 lbs over weight, I also take omeprazole 2xa day. I quit the omeprazole a week ago and am going to retest tom. Can the omeprazole have caused this?

Avatar f tn Ultrasound showed no issue with gallbladder, kidneys, appendix or liver. Liver only shows a hemangioma that has not gotten bigger since 2019. My pancreas was obscured. I also had normal blood work except for calcium which was 10.3 but my doctor wasn’t concerned. After no changes after 8 weeks of omeprazole, I was changed to protonix 2x daily. No changes after a few weeks, I went back to the dr because I started to feel right side back pain. He referred me to a GI which is in two weeks.
Avatar m tn h-pylori drugs have many sides, even fatal on liver, i took them too but i suggest to take them the shortest time possible and try to stop them to see if all the damage is you feel is due to these drugs you may also use alinia+other h-pylori drugs to boost response and clear pylori fast, i remember i just took 2 antibiotics+omeprazole for about 3 weeks to clear it Omeprazole can cause some very serious, even fatal conditions associated with the liver.
Avatar n tn I have diagnosed GERD, hiatal hernia, gastritis and reflux that aspirates into my lungs. I take either Zantac or Omeprazole, depending on how I feel. My liver doctor says that many hepatic patients take them and with my diagnosis I need to stay on medication. I worry because I do not want extra stress on my liver, but also know that I have another health issue that needs medication. Believe me, I have tried every and all non reflux medication options and they do not work for me.

Avatar m tn if I am writing this is because I have a problem and I would like you to help me, I have burns in the liver and burns sometimes goes on the back accompanied by constipation what that it can be?
Avatar f tn If you have cirrhosis it is best that your doctor is a hepatologist associated with a liver transplant center. These experts can best answer you questions and guide your care.
Avatar f tn Continual pain is something you cannot ignore-cardiac ischemia, gallbladder disease, and reflux need to be ruled out. And just because what you consumed gave you pain does not mean that 2 separate processes are not going on. good luck.
Avatar m tn s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?
Avatar f tn Was started on omeprazole and bloating/discomfort left-mid-right have definitely decreased. Now just have infrequent "jab" type feeling Right upper to lower quad (kind if "side sticker" feeling) had JAK2 test which was Neg.(?test looking for myloprolifertive neoplasms)did have UA C&S done which I'm assuming was neg, since I didn't hear anything.I'm concerned with CT findings.Could an ovarian "cyst" cause leukocytosis?

785204 tn?1236309513 Could someone shed some light on my disease and tell me what to expect, what the disease will do, and possible treatment? I am having some pretty awful symptoms such as chronic itching, jaundice, extreme tiredness which is taking over my life, sickness, and very dark urine.
Avatar f tn Thank you. So, I go in for another liver enzyme blood test in a month. I guess I should stop taking both omenprazole and zantac until then? Is that what you would do? Thanks.
Avatar n tn (that’s the reason you are being given medication for acidity) Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into.
