Avatar m tn They will also give me clonidine for panic attacks, phenobarbital for anti seizures, IV fluids and zofran for nausea and I will be hooked up at all times to a heart monitor. Oh yeah and I also have multiple sclerosis. Have any of you got off your meds this way.? I'm supposed to be in the hospital about a week and then ill be on AutoZone if it works for pain. Otherwise ill have to try a morphine pain pump.
Avatar f tn My doctor put in for a new medication, which took 4 days to get approved and filled. I started the new med Thursday evening (Morphine extended release 30mg 3x per day). I had already experienced some withdrawal symptoms by that point, mainly stomach upset that I was treating with Immodium and Pepto. However, the last 4 days have been miserable. By mid-day Friday, I had a full blown migraine with all the side effects, which had been normal for me prior to the methadone treatment.
Avatar f tn This can have serious and deadly consequences. The withdrawal can cause you to have seizures and heart attacks. Have you talked to both your pain management and ob/gyn about replacing your morphine with Methadone? Methadone is prescribed for moderate to severe pain but is also and opiate blocker.
541465 tn?1219427886 HI, I normally take 120 mgs of methadone daily ( been clean off opiates or over 6 months now), take 2mgs of Klonopins daily, and 50 to 100mgs of phenergan (promethazine or promethazine hyrochloride, ) , AND 0.2 mgs of Chlonodine a day,. . . . .AND, 200mgs oF seroquel ( but only used for sleep. Im prescribed all the meds so this pill i found which i knew was a Tramadol/Ultram 50 mgs. Is that safe? The only interaction that i am worried about is the methadone.
1460153 tn?1285750389 t getting enough blood to the brain and when that happens you have seizures and when you try to walk it is like your legs are getting tighter and tighter, like a vice grib is on your legs, very very painful. I can't thats what he has yet wouldn't hurt to look into it . Oh and btw they also you the same test for syphlus(sp) so I'm not saying your hubby has that cause I sure don't , just Anticardiolipid antibodies.
Avatar m tn A lot of PM docs use this for patients to take all day long, every day. My employer and doc tried to put me on Ultram ER and I refused to take it. Good luck and if you need any suggestions for the d-tox, let me know and I will check.
Avatar n tn I take them both daily , but together I guess it lowers the seizure threshold but probably won't be a problem if u don't have a history of seizures.
Avatar f tn I am on very strong pain meds for my lupus & fibro (morphine & demerol) which I take daily regardless if I'm in that level of pain or not..the morphine that is, the demerol is for break thru pain only (this was directed by both my family doctor as well as my rheumatologist). I suspect maybe this regimen is causing other serious health issues. The past 3 days I have had lupus flare type symptoms....
647120 tn?1256601651 When I started seeing a pain manager for chronic leg pain last fall, she said it was nerve pain without doing any diagnostics. She put me on morphine, and I've had ups and downs with it. Now I am considering going back to square one by weening off of morphine and seeing what my pain level is. It is almost a year since I had L4-5 spinal fusion, and I hate the side effects, costs, and stigma that go with taking this class of drugs. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?
Avatar n tn they ran a CAT scan, and an MRI and an EEG. the neuro says they are non-seizures. what does that mean?! her whole body shakes, her eyes roll back. this past seizure, she was in the seizure for 1 minuts 50 seconds. they are gonna up her dose of depakote and give her midrin. do you feel this could help? or is there something mental with her? in the past they said phusedo seizures now they just say its not a seizure. whats wrong with her?
Avatar n tn He also suffers from seizures, and they are awful when she has screwed up his medicine many times over the years. The clock is running out and I need a Plan B!
555706 tn?1216696252 S. Doctors here did well and was six and a half years seizure free and felt I was almost recovering from the three month coma, 15 month rehabilitation learning to walk and talk and a complete change of personality. I'd be lying if I said I was happy, but was getting along and suicide was put out of the picture long ago. The morning after a traumatic emotional shock (my parrot was stolen, his wings cut and was found, but severly in shock and trauma, but healthy physically.
680303 tn?1239984840 I took 3/4 of a pill in the am and 1/2 at night, so far, so good.
Avatar m tn That sounds like a lot of morphine and for a substantial amount of time. I commend you for wanting to get off the meds. Maybe not so much of a rush - considering your intake, perhaps a more agressive ween or taper would be better - shorter than 18-20 weeks, but not 4-5 days.. Im not sure but want to offer support. Hopefully someone will come along with more helpful advice. I do think that if your want is there all things are possible.
Avatar n tn his color has acutally improved. oxygen levels are like 67-70% only medication he is on is morphine and something for seizures. is this normal for his color to improve and circulation to remain good?
680303 tn?1239984840 Hello Doctor, I was taking 2 1/4 of a tab of tramadol for about 3-4 days. Yesterday, I tried to make it even less. I want the least discomfort possible. I have a sick husband and have to take him somewhere Tuesday. I'd like to know what amt is it time to just stop. I am taking morphine sulfate also 30er 2x a day. I want to stop that too and don't think my own doctor knows much. When I get to getting off of that also when is time to stop, at how many mgs? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I tended to between getting the morphine). But I could safely take 5mg to 6 mg a day and feel productive. . My husband , a big addict also, will fall asleep for 14 hrs if he takes 1mg xanax. I felt he was like that b/c he didn't have allot of anxiety, or depression like me. I know since xanax nothing has ever calmed my heart or mind , seemed like when I stopped xanax my heart raced. did and still have the hand shakes. I knew people who got the xanax bars.
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hi all for past 3months have had balance problems, falling usually to the left, but have fell backwards and forwards. Also had seizures insomnia major muscle problems, and so on. Last week blood test confirmed hypothyroid, and started thyroxine. Also quite anxious and irritated. Has anyone had these balance problems, do they stop? getting concerned about going out fall so much. I am new to the forum and posted in wrong place originally.
Avatar m tn Here in Ireland where codeine addiction is a huge problem among housewives and many respected members of the community it was found that going cold turkey was fa more dangerous than the drug itself and can cause seizures and even strokes as the shock to the system is so great. There are now many new non addictive drugs on the market which a sympathetic doctor will prescribe. Don't be shy about approaching a G.P. for help with your problem.....
Avatar m tn meperidine or Demerol should be avoided in the doses you are describing, as the primary breakdown product, normeperidine, is neurotoxic and causes seizures; Codeine is not a good choice at these doses as it just does not have that much potency; Morphine does tend to cause more stomach cramping and nausea, and is subject to high 'first pass metabolism' that makes oral dosing difficult; Any opiate at these doses should NOT contain acetominophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen (avoid percocet, f
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
