I've always wanted to stop but it's been a difficult road. My addiction progressed to herion and I ended up on the Methadone maintenence program about four years ago. The first two years were rough but thanks to the grace of God and my family I have been clean now for over a year and a half. My husband and my son have been my anchor to reality and responsibility. My husband does not smoke, drink or use drugs and never has(how we ended up together is a mystery).

and I have not for a year now...the only thing I know is that being on suboxone is like being on Methadone...and I've heard that Babies w/d from Methadone is only a few days and sometimes not at all. But that is just what I've heard and read!! And i asked a doctor another forum what he thought would be best and he said not to w/d while pregnant it could be very stressful on the fetus and if the baby has to go through w/d that it would be better outside of the womb. But it still hasn't helped me.
So I was sent to see a pain specialist. They are thinking of putting me on either Oxycotin or Methadone. The problem is that my husband and I would like to have a baby in the near future. I was wondering if one was would be considered safer than the other to take while pregnant. I am also on Klonapin for an anxiety disorder, which I believe I will have to try and come off of before we try to have a baby.

"My son would be crying and laughing at the same time, I have video of him screaming and tripping out of his mind. We had to get his liver tested every 6months. The medicine was killing him. He'd had a grand mal seizure that lasted an hour and a half. He'd been in an ambulance 45 times in the last year. Seeing your son in an ambulance, it just kills you.
No! You just have this Disease of Addiction. I have apparently had this for the last 40 years from using here & there until the opiates/Methadone really got me. Have you been getting any out side support?? Going to meetings, church, therapist, etc..? It is really hard work to stay clean, but I have noticed it eases up a bit as far as cravings go. BUT I could never, ever do this alone. Me, Myself and I do not get along..So now I make it a WE thing.

If you start heroin addicts (the ones that can't get sober on their own) on Methadone maintenance programs, then the Methadone clinic could handle the tx of these individuals. I believe I have always erred on the side of caution. I get a warning almost everytime. Please understand how hard that is to do: Help but not break the rules. It's exhausting sometimes because these are real folks and they trust the forum and will not call a doctor. I'm going to have to give it up which is too bad but it's too hard now. The thing is here, and I agree with Matt because we're twins, is that this becomes a HUGE issue when we're talking about barbs and benzos.
