methadone and tramadol interactions

My question is, has anyone heard of lyrica causing withdrawal symptoms when taken w/methadone? I was given Tramadol(Ultram) w/ methadone and thought I was going to die with the interaction it caused!!!

Yes interactions can occur between SSRIs and Tramadol related to a rare condition called Serotonin Syndrome. Since you're not having any interactions, maybe your dosages are low enough not to be a problem. But I agree with the previous post, definitely discuss your concerns with your Pharmacist and contact your Doctor if you feel like you need more info.

You're not clean off opiates if you take a whopping 12 ten Mg methadone a day. I'm a tolerant user, and that's WAY more than I take daily. Btw I took 5 tramadol and 2 methadone today, and it didn't send me into withdrawal. That whole line is a bunch a bull she©#.

need to do own research) i stopped all med for 48 hrs and tramadol and prozac permantenly and immediatly began feeling better...i called my dr when i figured out what was wrong and her nurse said she (the doc) doesn't think i had that...i left her and every time i mention this story to docs i encounter they are blown away no-one helped me...

Hi every one i went to a mental doctor yesterday, he put me on prozack , i couldnt take that while i was on methadone, it was not to be used with methadone, for anyone thats still on methadone please, look up drug interactions when takeing methadone google med. interactions, there is alot of meds you cant take with methadone including some blood pressure meds.

Hi and welcome to the forum....well I was on methadone for 6 1//2yrs and also have bipolar disorder so taking antidepressants was a fact of life for me...I had good luck with celexa will taking methadone...very little side effects mixing the 2 together but all antidepressant are not the same...I agree with mr lucky on asking your dr he/she should at least know your on the methadone...

You would need to ask your prescriber or your pharmacist about the potential for interaction. I honestly don’t know. I would not advise taking suboxone after any opioid type pain medication unless you have cleared it with your doctor.

Yes you can treat while taking it. I am on Methadone for 16 years and have found a doctor who thinks he can get me in a clinical trial The bad thing is that when you take methadone or suboxone they think you will not finish treatment and will relapse and they will not accomplish anything or you will reinfect your self in the future. You can treat successfully it is just getting them to do it and get past the bad feelings for the drugs we are treating with.

Is that safe? The only interaction that i am worried about is the methadone. I was kinda bad and gave all all my klonopins to a friend (at the time she needed it, but I do have seizures so i must take benzo's), All i had let was 1.5 mgs of Klonopin, 0.2mgs Chlonodine, 1 mg ativan (another pill i found with the tramadol)., the 200mg Seroquel ( well right now, i cut them in half i i dont need it), Its hard to pee at the clinic when they have the random urins, and that 50 mg Tramadol.

Can anyone tell me if i took tramadol with my methadone will taking the tramadol cause withdrawal from the methadone.The people at the clinic said that it would but they also say other things that I found werent true.I would only be taking it for a few days so getting addicted wouldnt be a problem.

I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.

I have recently quickly transitioned from methadone to suboxone. while on methadone for 10 years I was taking a quite high dose of clonidine for excessive sweating. The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision.

naproxen is a fine I would discuss any thing else with your doctor I would steer clear of the benzos they are highly addictive you do want to trade on addiction to another plus I thought there were some interactions with benzos and methadone that could be very serous even fatal..

I am stopping the methadone after today and using just the tramadol and will do a taper on that as well to get myself off of it asap.

Methadone and benzos mixed together is typically not recommended, due to the risk of respiratory depression, and even respiratory arrest. That being said, in some cases, docs will be okay with the combination if the doses are small enough, and if the medications aren't taken all of the time, or are taken short term. This is something you definitely need to discuss with your doctor before mixing them again.

Tramadol is now a scheduled drug, classified as an opiat (narcotic).. It has had that classification for several years.

which is making me now think, oh god, ive dug a hole by using tramadol to ease the methadone yuks.... been off tramadol for 1.5 days now and feel awful. no energy, agitated. i know i know, i was warned... i do wish now i had listened, to all you who warned me, and to myself. so much for stopping tramms after 2-3weeks.
