Avatar f tn ve had no problems for 18 years, but suddenly am having cramps like menstrual cramps. This morning I was woke up by cramps, and had some slight spotting when I went to the bathroom. I can't go to the dr. for 3 months because I'm waiting for my insurance to be reinstated after having had to appeal. I cannot afford a doctor right now. What could cause this? I'm 62 yrs. old.

Avatar n tn when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 months. However, since you had a hysterectomy 20 years ago, this is not an option. Instead, a blood test known as a follicle stimulating hormone (or FSH) test may be used in conjunction with your symptoms to better assess whether you are transitioning into menopause. That said, there might be other reasons for hot flashes and night sweats and it's best to speak with your personal physician.
Avatar f tn I have always had female problems. In 2016 my OB decoded it was time for a complete hysterectomy. I don't have my ovaries, tubes, uterus, or cervix. In the past year I've begun having what feels like menstrual cramps. I don't understand what's going on. What could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Avatar n tn Hello, Generally, vaginal bleeding after hysterectomy is light. You may notice occasional spotting or a pink discharge. If bleeding after hysterectomy is as heavy as a menstrual period or lasts longer than six weeks then it needs evaluation. Pelvic cramps can be due to healing of stitches but if there is severe pain or any fever then any infection or adhesion formation should be ruled out.
1582332 tn?1296924865 Hello, I cant speak to now since I had a hysterectomy quite a few years ago due to endometriosis. As you know most of us were born with Chiari so I think the answer is yes. They think endometriosis is autoimmune that does go along with the Chiari diagnosis. I was only diagnosed last year and alot of things do make sense now. Endometriosis does cause the heavy periods, severe abdominal pain, cramping. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I saw my obgyn today and was told in order to relieve my menstrual cramping the next step would be a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I had an oblation 2 years ago and it wasn't helping anymore. I was wondering if i will still get my period, he said he would be leaving my ovaries in.
Avatar m tn My surgeon believed that the pelvic adhesions were the cause of the horrific pain I was experiencing. I was fine for approx 3 years after my hysterectomy when the cramping and back pain returned with a vengeance. I was refereed to a surgeon who specializes in removing pelvic adhesion via key hole surgery. Had this op in 2010 and felt like a new woman after a 3 week recovery period...no cramping or back pain and a fantastic quality of life!!! Fast forward 18 months later and the pain was back.
Avatar n tn Then one period my life changed. For the next 20 years I had life-altering cramps and hemorrage type bleeding. Anaprox alleviated the cramps and I lived on it. I had many D&C and was told I had fibroids and I should have an hysterectomy. I refused. I have only been pregnant once and that end with an abortion in 1973 when I was 23.
Avatar n tn well I am glad I googled this cramping because I am 59 and have had this for almost a year. Your description of your menstrual/lower abdominal cramping is exactly what mine is. I strongly believe now that mine comes from my lower back pain and I will be checking this with a chiropractor as suggested by PerimenoWorried response. I had an ultrasound done a few months ago and saw a Homeopath and she treated me with a remedy that works but it comes back again as soon as the remedy is done.
Avatar n tn Also, I never used to have menstrual cramps and now the first two days, they are borderline unbearable. And, now I am really depressed because I started mid-month spotting again. I don't have great health insurance and I feel horrible that this has accomplished nothing and yet I am in the hole with my out of pocket medical. I wrote my doctor a letter explaining my dilemna and haven't heard back. Now, I just want them to take my uterus out and be done with it.
Avatar f tn Ladies - I am sorry for your post-hysterectomy weight gain. I also had a hysterectomy 8 years ago (absolutely worst day of my life!). I have not gained weight but I do not eat nearly as much as I did previously. I probably would have gained at least 20 lbs. if I ate like I did pre-hysterectomy! I do have the big post-hyst belly and the thick midsection though which I abhor!
1395422 tn?1308016251 Everyone woman knows what a menstrual cramp is. It may come as a surprise to many that menstrual cramps have another name. The medical term for these abdominal and pelvic pains is “dysmenorrhea”. More than 50% of women are affected each month by a certain degree of dysmenorrhea, and 15% of those women are experiencing severe cramping. Isn’t this PMS?
Avatar f tn I have been in treatment for depression since i had a Hysterectomy 3 years ago. 2 weeks after my panic/anxiety attack i have had severe muscle twitching through the whole body BP has been elevated. Most of the time my legs feel to weak to even hold me up from a sitting position. is this all in my head but even my family has noticed weightloss the bruising and felt my twitches.
Avatar n tn I know this is responding to an old post, but I noticed someone said no PMS symptoms after hysterectomy. That is not true at all. Although the symptoms are very different. If one still has two functioning ovaries you will still face the (EMOTIONS, CRAVINGS, HEADACHES, SORE BOOBS ETC). I had a hysterectomy a bit over 6 months ago. For the first 3 months after the hysterectomy I was fine (but I didn't realize my ovaries had been asleep I guess). Oh did they wake up!!
Avatar f tn I cannot possible have endometriosis or menstrual cramping ... I have had a full hysterectomy--no ovaries, no uterus, no cervix. It was all taken last year.
649926 tn?1297657780 I spend most of my time on the MS page since that is my biggest issue - or was I had endo for years - 7 or 8 laparoscopy and finally a complete hysterectomy in 2001. Loved not having the pain, cramps, bleeding (ever, lol) once I healed from the surgery. Has anyone ever had their endo return after a complete hysterectomy? I never took hormone replacement because the docs said it was too risky.
Avatar n tn Usually the pain from a stone is extreme. My pain would be more discribed as feeling like menstrual cramps; however, I do not have a uterus. I had a hysterectomy about eight years ago. Can you shed any light on this? Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn Here is my information on Adhesions, which in my case were horrible...for about 2 years I suffered and they started after my radical hysterectomy (started about 3 months after) and were discovered during a colonoscopy, which made that procedure very uncomfortable...otherwise it would not have been too bad. You might want to ask your doctor about this since you are having some bladder problems, but it is essentially a very deep massage.
Avatar m tn A friend of mine had a hysterectomy a few years back, as a result of a severe endometriosis. Since this procedure, she has continued to have periods of extreme debilitating pain. Recently she had an x-ray that showed two clips that were left in her abdomen following the surgery. Oddly enough, the clips are in the EXACT same area where this pain emanates from. She has asked her OBGYN, who said that the clips are necessary and said it is doubtful that the pain would result from the clips.
