Avatar f tn 39 weeks today and have been experiencing menstrual like cramps for a few hours now. Should I assume I'm in labor and call my doctor or is cramping normal?
Avatar n tn Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.
1043607 tn?1253236817 I've been having these painful cramps for almost a week now, without vomiting or diarrhea. They almost feel like menstrual cramps - in the back - except for they are higher up, and all through out my midsection. I have never had menstrual cramps that felt like this, and I'm not near my period. I would say it's similar to the feeling you get when you have diarrhea, but I'm going to the bathroom as usual, no constipation either.
Avatar f tn I am 11 almost 12 weeks and once in a while mainly when I am relaxing after a long day I feel slight cramps. Never in the same spot just random spots in my lower abdominal area. Should I be worried that a miscarriage is coming?
Avatar n tn These cramps usually begin earlier in the menstrual cycle and last longer than common menstrual cramps.
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced menstrual like cramps early in pregnancy? I am almost 6 weeks and have off and on menstrual like cramps anywhere from my sides to my pelvic area. I had an ovarian cyst rupture recently so I was told the pain in my side came from the fluid left around my ovaries and that it would take care of itself. It has been 11 days since the cyst ruptured but I still occasionally have pain.
2055843 tn?1332427915 Hello- I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 27 and have had/have the same types of cramps that you do. I believe the medical term for it is dysmenorrhea. As for it being normal...ehh lol, I guess it's "normal" as in it happens to many women and isn't usually life threatening in any way. However, my personal opinion is that normal isn't always good, and this is one of those cases.
Avatar f tn Hello. Usually my menstrual cramps are horrible, I get all dizzy, my legs start to shiver, headaches and some other stuff; meds dont help at all in this situation but, my grandma made some tea out of a jamaican flower that it actually help ease the pain. Avatar f tn Worse than menstrual cramps, and reminded me of when I was experiencing contractions from labor. The pain radiated to my lower back also. The pain has been off and on for a whole week now, with some days being better than others. It gets a lot worse if I'm even the slightest bit hungry, and as soon as I eat the cramps stop. I assumed it was food poisoning since this all started immediately after my meal on Monday, but I've never heard of it causing cramps for a week straight! Any ideas?
Avatar f tn I have had menstrual like cramps with no bleeding, and morning sickness just recently starting with the first vomiting in the afternoon yesterday. Should I worry so much? This is my first pregnancy.
508106 tn?1269959199 ve never taken it but I know what is is like to live with sever menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding. My doctor put me on the birth control pill because nothing else worked. Here is what I found out about mefenamic acid: Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to treat pain, including menstrual pain. It is typically prescribed for oral administration. Mefenamic acid decreases inflammation (swelling) and uterine contractions by a still unknown mechanism.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone! I have a question about menstrual cramps, and any help would be appreciated. I have been suffering extremely painful cramps for years now, ever since I got my first period when I was 13. I'm currently 18 and am going off to college very soon, but I have no idea how to deal with these cramps that incapacitate me for an entire day. My cramps get so bad that I usually faint. For example, when I was around 14 my period came in the morning but I still went to school.

Avatar f tn It feels like menstrual cramps. I slept like around midnight, and since then I have been waking up a few times with the pain still there. My right leg started hurting but the pain is not that severe, and my right lower back is also in pain. I woke up at 7 a.m this morning and the pain is still there. I do not feel like vomiting or nauseous, and neither have I lost my appetite. I have been with this pain for about 10 hours now, would I happen to be presenting signs of appendicitis?

Now I feel like I have a bladder infection. Hurts to pee, frequent urination, and there's blood in it. I took 2 amoxicillin 500 mg capsules. But I'm really in pain. Should I go to ER, or wait till morning and see how I feel?
2011937 tn?1328058785 This is especially important for women who suffer from menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) because cramps are caused by excessively strong contractions of the uterus. Magnesium helps the powerful uterine muscles relax, reducing cramping. Magnesium's muscle-relaxing powers also help relieve the PMS or menstrual headaches many women experience. Menstrual fatigue is another common complaint of women that magnesium can help relieve, though the exact mechanism is uncertain.
