Lyrica and upset stomach

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and upset stomach

lyrica

I am currently taking cymbalta, celexa, and lyrica and the only thing it does for me is make me tired......
The beach was so white and the water so clear and blue. It was the best beach I'd swam at before in the Carribean. And, it was the best food I'd had anywhere in the Carribean. We went on a day trip on the Wednesday.
Luckily I am in hospital, so they gave me morphine straight away and its feeling much better. I really don't know very much about Lyrica and I'd like to hear what some people have experienced with it. I've been on Tramadol, Morphine tabs, Fentanyl patches, and a methotrexate, salazopyrene, azapress, anything you can think of.
Hi I was on Lyrica because again it was the "new thing" for Chronic Regional Pain/RSD, and "suspected seizures. I had so much trouble with Lyrica. i started on 75mg of Lyrica and was drunk, dizzy couldnt see straight {blurriness came at 300mg}. I felt sick agitated and hallucinated and vomited on it. Till my neurologist put me on to Neurontin. I was so scared about trying it. I have had that many adverse reactions to so many medications, I didnt want anymore.
I have taken Lyrica this year and just weaned myself off of it. I had too many of the listed side effects from it. I was going to do a study but afterwards was told that I was ineligible because I was already taking the med.
So when my new pain Dr. suggested lyrica I said let me think about it and I called Eli Lilly explaining my allergies and they said they wouldn't be any. I'm only on three Percocets day, I have no addiction, I despise them! But my second day on lyrica I was completely pain free, I thought it was a wonder drug, I took no Percocets that day. I thought oh my God my suffering is over.
I just remember how horrible I felt. The brain zaps, sweats, chills, upset stomach, you name it and it lasted forever. After 3 weeks I started Cymbalta and then just started getting worse. I thought it was from the Effexor and Lyrica withdrawal so I kept taking Cymbalta for quite awhile. Finally realized it was the Cymbalta. I went to my doctor and he ended putting me back on Effexor and Gabapentin. So I went through all of that hell and was basically back to where I started.
The pain has been very bad for almost a year as the vertebra crumbled and I have taken Lortabs and Percocets now and again but they do not sit well on my stomach and most times I would rather just lay here and moan, lol. My prescription for the Lyrica is to start with 50mg once a day for 2 weeks and then go to 2 a day. Tomorrow is the end of my first week.
The Rebif is giving me severe insomnia (something I have never experienced) and depression along with pain and borderline-insane fluttering of the heart and upset stomach. Some forums say this passes after a while; I want a cure for the insomnia; because taking two Benadryl every night is no longer cutting it. The Rebif is powering through. I don't get any skin-effects with the Rebif; is this true for others?
Just google ,Lyrica w/d or When does Lyrica w/d end and you will find a bunch of forum and ppl going through hell trying to get off it! Most can't handle it! Im soo trying to be strong and deal with it! I have chronic pain already, so Im used to being in constant pain!
i read in your post that you drank tea, i would get a decaf ginger tea and see if that helps. also, i take pepcid ac when my stomach is upset, which is most of the time! if you except that this could very well be anxiety and everything else has been ruled out then you can go on from there with treatment, some therapy and maybe medication for awhile. try to stay on a bland diet, which it sounds like your doing now, low acid, no spicy foods, low fat, nothing greasy and no caffeine.
Ambien, Xanax (just once), Vitamins and Supplements, Protein Shakes and Vitamin Waters, Claritin and Sinus meds, lots of food, and my 100mg Lyrica pills. I’m convinced Lyrica (or Gabapentin) is a miracle worker. And....if you want the long story, be my guest: MONDAY – MARCH 18th | 2 DAYS TILL D-DAY Later this week I am going to attempt cold turkey from 4 Norcos/day. It took me about two months to get down to that low of a dose. I was at 15 pills/day before.
When I wake up, I am completely discombobulated! I am anxious, upset, worried, my stomach is in knots. Certainly not what one wants when waking up to face your day. I have been playing around with my Trazodone script (I usually take 150, moving it down, eliminating it, etc.) but it doesn't seem to affect it. I also take Zoloft, Lyrica, and occasionally Ativan. This morning, I woke up at 4:30 after 75 mg of Trazodone, felt ok, but still sleepy.
22mcg, were taken yesterday morning; reduced dosage; 150mg Lyrica taken at same time, and then again at 4 p.m. No Benadryl taken. Am very tired, but unable to sleep. Heart is racing, stomach very upset, chest tight/throat tight. Need help.
I have discovered that if I go more than 10 or 12 hours without my tramadol I begin getting a headache which progresses to nausea, upset stomach and a generally not feeling well, to the point that I have to lie down. Sometimes I even have cold sweats and chills. I have found myself taking one just to relieve those symptoms I am concerned that I am dependent on the tramadol and it doesn’t look like I am going to get rid of the pain, and the need, any time soon.
So I stated with 100mg at night for a week, then added another 100mg in the morning, I am now only up to 3 x 100mg per day but each time I upped the does the first 2 days I had a very upset tummy and had the spaced out feelings you describe, by the third day it was just an upset tummy and then after that I was fine. It isn't helping the pains, tingling, etc yet but I am not taking very much. My doc has told me not to go to anymore until our appt next week when we discuss the way forward.
Hi, I have had jaw pain exactly as you describe, and in my case it is definitely Lyme causing it. Mine also flared up dramatically when I started antibiotic treatment. According to my Lyme doc, it is neurological pain (lyme attacking nerves) not inflamamtion, which means ordinary painkillers won't do much to help it. My doc prescribed lyrica to calm it down, and that worked well.
Oh, and I am on both a lupus med and a fibromyalgia med... I am taking Lyrica for the pain, which has been recently approved for fibromyalgia. It knocks a lot of pain out, but I warn you if you aren't on it... it makes you gain weight if you don't watch what you eat. As long as you keep an eye on it, though, you should only gain 5 pounds initially which generally comes off after a few weeks. I am also taking plaquenil, which is used for lupus people.
You said it has no side effects. But can it interfere with other meds? And does it upset your stomach at all. I am very sensitive to all meds and vitamins and such can just tear my stomach up. Anyway, mine came on about 6 months after a cervical fusion. Yet, my Neurologist says that the PN is independent of the fusion. So, if the alpha lipoic acid works, I might just try it. Can you go into more detail as to what it is and how it works. Thanks!
Have had to stop taking all pain meds except tylenol because of stomach upsets which is causing UC flares daily. Had to quit Lyrica due to heavyconcrete like pain in legs and severe swelling of feet and legs. Cannot take any antiinflammatories due to stomach pains. All pain meds also cause stomach pain. Besides stretching exercises, heat, medicated muscle rubs, music, pet, imargery and deep breathing what can I do? I am seeing psychiatrist who wants to tweak my meds.
I definitely have DDD, like you, neck herniations and knee issues, but I have strange stuff like rashes and and stomach problems , swelling and my regular HBP and high cholesterol. As far as my back and nerve pain, different opinions. I was told to have surgery by one, then not by another..... I have to go back to hospital on Tues. to get that echocardiogram stress test finished because I only got thru half of it--it was 3 hrs.
Hi - I need to lose about 60-70 lbs. I have an underactive thyroid and am on levoxyl (SP?) - Anyway I have been jogging 4 miles 3x/week + 1 hour of weights at the gym and have a trainer. - I can't lose any weight! I fluctuate between a loss of 1-2 lbs but thats it....The workouts have reduced my cholest. and my Thyroid is norm. - my mean blood glucose is 101.
I quit before because of nausea and a very upset stomach with constant burning, loud burping (sorry) and over all queezy feeling. I really want the weight loss benefit but can't take this too long. The only reason I am able to make it this time is I stopped a few other meds-Previcid,Zocor and Celebrex. That makes it easier. I also have difficulty with soda or any carbonated drink. They all taste yucky and taste flat. Some foods feel odd to chew. Has anyone else had gastric problems?
I also get very tired all the time but find it very hard to sleep with the pain, have constant stomach upset and frequent migraines. Are you on any medication? I have tried almost everything but am now on Cymbalta which has had some success with neuropathic pain. I spent a long time in the rain forests in Australia years ago and wonder if I may also have contracted Lyme disease although they say there is no sign of it now.
She still has a neuropathy but she is on an antidepressant that works on the pain and depression plus a drug like Lyrica and another one and now she has stabilized. Her dad thought it was all in her head so to speak and wasn't helpful other than to keep her from getting a research procedure done. So, I would start to think about maybe doing something similar is to get onto program where they get you off the opiate onto something maybe more helpful.
Ibuprofen aka nurofen, is a widely used pain reliever which works on joint pain and arthritis. It is known to cause stomach upset and even ulcers in some people, but most people tolerate it well. It is fairly fast acting if it works for you. Then there is nurofen plus, which contains one dose of nurofen and approx 13mg of codeine. These often work well in combination as codeine takes longer to start taking effect, and it has different molecular targets to ibuprofen.
I had horrible withdrawal symptoms including seasickness-like nausea, joint and limb pain, stomach cramps and diarrhea, mood swings, insomnia and probably, worst of all, the brain zaps or shivers. I'm going into my 6th week off the drug and while the withdrawal symptoms are not as intense, I experience some of these negatives effects every day, particularly in the sfternoon as I tire.
I have been checked out by Neuro, ENT and GP and NOTHING. I'm wondering if I have TMJ but I don't know. Here are my symptoms... Right ear pain Right ear fullness/ringing Pain behind right eye spot headaches on right side grinding teeth at night stiff neck - going into my shoulders I had an MRI/MRA back in Oct and all it showed was chronic sinusitis which I am being treated for by my ENT however he knows the pain is not coming from my ear. I am worried. Could this be an aneursym?
im afraid to ask my doctor for something else cause i dont want him to think im just wanting drugs and im afraid to get on something addictive and then something happen and be taken off of it and dont want to go through withdrawals or anything. like what my friend is going through now she is so afraid her doctor isnt going to see her after she shows him the sheriffs report... and i don t ever want to be in that position. so i dont know what to do.
I'm doing ok today, I actually feel a little better than yesterday, I took the gabapentin again this morning, I swear it has been a life saver, I dont really have much withdrawal symptoms, besides low energy and my stomach is a little bit upset. I am going to take it for the next couple days while the opiates get out of my system and then see how i do without it.
