Avatar m tn because the bulky area underneath my upper left lip, every time when I smile, that part of lip become thick and relative big when compare to the right side of my upper lip as the bulky surgical area underneath the lip push against the lip when I smile. will this be permanent? or it is too early to say now and bulkyness could reduce over time as time pass by and my smile will become normal? Thanks.

Avatar f tn I had a dental implant in the mandible 6 months ago. After complaining of tingling sensations & numbness in the chin & lip, forward to where the implant is, the oral surgeon replaced it with a shorter one after one month. Another 5 months have passed, it has healed nicely & a crown has been attached by my dentist. The tingling is still there. When I touch my chin, my chin & lip tingle. After a routine cleaning & the crown, it seems a little bit worse.
Avatar f tn Believe it or not I am very anxious and need some real advice. I got into this relationship in a mountainous cold area in Taiwan and started making out multiple times with an unknown status girl. The exposure was just lip kissing/open mouth kissing, but my concern is that we both normally has chapped lips due to the cold weather. I used lip balm, but the chapped lips continued.
Avatar m tn A couple days later I called my oral surgeon and told him that my left chin and lower lip are numb. He asked me to come to the office to back out the implant a millimeter or two because it might be touching a nerve. On 5/23 the oral surgeon backed out implants #31 and #29. He did tell me that he suspected that implant #29 was possibly compressing a nerve area. Today is 5/30 and the numbness has not gone. Area around tooth #28, #27 and # 26 is very numb (lower lip and chin only).
Avatar n tn Also it seems as tho my smile isnt as big cuz the chin implant is too high up and not allowing my lower lip to pull down as far? It is bothersome to me. If he goes back in and lowers it will I be able to smile like I use to? I've got tingling from this surgery up to the lower right of my lip ... I didnt have that after the jaw surgeries.
Avatar f tn It does not appear like the warts and herpes shown in images on the web. The other reason I suspected an STD is that I have had a cold sore on my lip for a week not too. Is it possible that the IUD is causing some kind of infection? Or is this an STD that somehow did not appear positive when I was tested the week before the implant? Thanks!
Avatar n tn what suggestions do you have for prolonged numbness a year following oral surgery to have dental implants inserted. I have had one implants removed due to terrible pain from the implant sticking into my lower lip. Now the left side of my chin and lower lip is so painful I leave my dentures out most of the time. I keep them in while at work, but I'm in misery all day. There is severe pain in my upper gums at night. I sleep with my head elevated to an almost sitting position.
Avatar n tn I am in Taiwan and had unprotected oral sex and protected by condom vaginal sex with a sex worker. The oral sex was only for a few minutes but I am concerned about STDs and the chances that I picked something up and if I should get tested and when. I am in a relationship as well that we have unprotected sex and I don't want to pass anything along to my partner. I need some good advice on how to handle this and how worried I should be?

29837 tn?1414534648 I was the first Westerner to have a transplant at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. It was a live liver transplant with my daughter as my donor. At the time, I didn't have insurance and although I had money in the bank, my hepatologist said they would not even do pre-testing without my having insurance. My computer whiz son helped us find the center, which we choose due to their excellent statistics which included no donor mortalities and few complications.
Avatar m tn According to statistics from the Bureau of National Health Insurance (NHI), there are around 2.4 million hepatitis B virus carriers in Taiwan and at least 12,000 people die from liver disease annually. The NHI's statistics also showed that liver disease medicine was the best-selling medicine in Taiwan last year and the annual cost of medicine to treat hepatitis B is NT$2 billion.
Avatar n tn I am just worried cos I have had these symptoms but the conjunctivitis comes and goes probably due to the pollution here in china but I am still worried anyway and I have a fiancee and we had unprotected sex over xmas one time but I know she doesnt have any STDs as she got tested a few months ago with a rapid test in taiwan and it was negative. Is it too late at 8 weeks to have symptoms start anyway? GP said its too long ago now to be her.
Avatar f tn m afraid of the cosmetic look with an implant right in the front, but worried about crowning the canines all together in the bridge, too. Especially if a repair on the bridge was needed or the canines had a problem. I appreciate the information.
Avatar f tn He told me to have it removed immediately and even called the dentist that put the implant in. I then went and saw the dentist that put in the implant and he also took xrays. He agreed that the bottom of the implant had entered the area with lots of nerves, but explained that instead of removing the implant, he thought it would be a better idea to raise the implant. I went ahead and let him raise it and hope I regain the feeling I've lost on my lower left face.
Avatar n tn I can only think that if the implant was put in via the mouth and afterwards the pocket inside your lower lip (vestibule) is much lower, then it may be that you need some more surgery to reattach the mentalis. This procedure is called 'mentalis resuspension.' You can google the term to find a plastic surgeon who specialises in this. The description of the your 'teeth hanging in front of the jaw bone" is not really clear.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear of your husband situation. At this point, I don't think they would let your husband travel, except if it's to get treatment. If he's being treated in Taiwan, then he's in good hands. Taiwan does a good amount of research on HepB. We've been advocating for those with chronic HepB to monitor their disease so to prevent it from becoming severe. Unfortuately, it's really hard to learn everything in a short time without proper disease history.
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago i had an implant put in my mouth on the right side of my lower jaw. Unfortunately my dentist drilled to far with the implant drill and nicked the Inferior alveolar nerve which provide sensation to my lower lip, chin as well as gums and teeth. It took me a week just to come to terms with. I'm trying to remain hopeful but its hard. this. My dentist informed me that nerves heal slow and this might take weeks months or even a year. He cant even guarantee ill ever get feeling back.
703897 tn?1248019974 I had an implant put in my #30 bone on Wednesday 21st, it is still hurting and I have been taking pain medication. I know it is normal for an implant to hurt, but for how long? I talked to other people who have had it done and they state it only hurt for a few days and then quit. I have been taking my antibiotics and rinsing with the rinse, not eating on that side, but it still hurts. Is this normal and for how long?
Avatar f tn Hello! My Dad had all of his teeth removed in 1980 when he was 31 yrs old. They fitted him with dentures but he claimed the dentures made him gag when he put them in so he refused to try to get used to them. He is now going to be 60 years old and for the past 30 years he has had NO TEETH! Ironic thing is, NOBODY can tell her doesn't have teeth because he has always had a moustache, which covers up his upper lip and disguises any sign that he may not have teeth.
Avatar n tn The dentist told me to have a veneer on this tooth since it was quite yellow. After the implant crown and veneer was put in, I started to feel numbness on my top and bottom lips. I have had this numbness for nearly 3 months now. Finally, the dentist took an xray and said the root of the root canaled tooth is infected and he will perform an apicoectomies to remove the infection.Am I suffering from Nerve damage? The dentist hasn't mentioned nerve damage at all.
Avatar f tn They sliced the roof of my mouth and sewed it to the front to create more skin. Yes this is all painful, but worth it. Next week I get my implant put in with more skin grafts. This pain will be nothing compared to the chin surgery. It is so worth it. The price is expensive but in the long run you will be saving more money. it costs about $1,500 for the implant and $1,500 for the crowns.
Avatar m tn I am also intrigued by the report from Taiwan that came out in 2013. Taiwan has very experienced HBV doctors and researchers, supported by large databases on HBV patients from the local population. Since the announcement, we have heard nothing - most unusual.
