Lip implant permanent

Common Questions and Answers about Lip implant permanent

lip

Avatar m tn A couple days later I called my oral surgeon and told him that my left chin and lower lip are numb. He asked me to come to the office to back out the implant a millimeter or two because it might be touching a nerve. On 5/23 the oral surgeon backed out implants #31 and #29. He did tell me that he suspected that implant #29 was possibly compressing a nerve area. Today is 5/30 and the numbness has not gone. Area around tooth #28, #27 and # 26 is very numb (lower lip and chin only).
Avatar n tn I had a chin implant a week ago today and since then I have had a strange lisp and noticed that when I smile, the middle of my bottom lip dosn't move down. When I talk my bottom lip hardly moves at all, and that is what is causing my lisp. What is weird is that the part that won't move isn't numb compared to the rest of my lower jaw. Is this nerve damage or muscle damage and is it permanent? Is this normal?
Avatar f tn If the implant is contact with the nerve, then consideration should be made to remove the implant to give the nerve an opportunity to heal. Another factor may be if the injury occurred as a result of the implant preparation (drilling). Never exceed the recommended or prescribed dosage of medication such as Motrin - serious side effects including deaths have been reported.
Avatar n tn Because of this the bone bonds to the implant as though it were the root of a tooth. When the implant moves after it is placed, the body recognizes it as a foreign object and rejects it.This causes an allergic reaction to the implant. http://www.lvimplant.com/Page18.html But true allergy to titanium is rare. When titanium is combined with other metals like nickel, then allergy can take place as nickel is a common sensitizer. Diagnosis is done by skin patch test or blood tests for allergy.
Avatar f tn This has resulted in a 100% improvement in the pain and feverish feeling emanating from THAT tooth, but I still have an strange irritating sensation emanating from the implant that extends to the cheek, nostril, and eye above the implant. I have a feeling the implant is the cause of the mouth trouble and wondering if it is the cause of my neurological symptoms as well. My physical activity has been reduced to a minimum compared to the level of physical activity previous to the surgery.
Avatar f tn and because of this damage u can have lower lip numbness...it can be temperary but in rare cases it is permanent........
Avatar n tn Also, with her being quite young, would you recommend that she goes with an implant over a bridge? At this point, she has a retainer with a fake tooth in it, but it's very embarrassing for a teen girl to have a missing tooth right in front! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what a radio graphic exam is, but when I told him about the numbness one week after the implant, he said that it might be permanent. I've never cried so much as I have since having this done. I see him again on Monday and my fingers are crossed he will take care of the numbness. Ironically, I only needed the implant because the tooth broke within an hour of him filling it.
Avatar f tn My nurse sister said that my numbness in my chin and lower lip could be permanent, but luckily after reading these posts I realize it could take longer than I anticipated. I had three wisdom teeth removed almost a week ago. My lower left was also removed like numb chin. I have just began to try to move to noodles, and soft foods. It has been yogurt, pudding, jello, and ice cream for almost a week. Good gosh I never thought getting your wisdom teeth out could be so painful and uncomfortable.
Avatar m tn because the bulky area underneath my upper left lip, every time when I smile, that part of lip become thick and relative big when compare to the right side of my upper lip as the bulky surgical area underneath the lip push against the lip when I smile. will this be permanent? or it is too early to say now and bulkyness could reduce over time as time pass by and my smile will become normal? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I had a baby tooth pulled (no permanent tooth behind it) and 2 dental implants done 3 days ago. Both implants were on the right side, one upper and one lower. I've noticed some numbness in the right side of my lip, chin, and cheek, as well as some tingling on the tip of my tongue and taste bud changes. Is this normal for the first few days following surgery? I'm currently taking penicillin and peridex rinse...i've read that this may be due to the peridex.

1345326 tn?1276453202 It would be very prone to fracture there and also the micromillimeter movement could eventually doom the implant. If the span is not too long an implant on both end supported bridge might work great. Or, if you can afford it,having individual implants is another option. I'm sure your dentist can advise you on that. Hope this helps. If I can help further or answer any other questions, please let me know.
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago I had to have a heavily crowned tooth pulled, after it had cracked in half. My choices were an implant or a permanent bridge attached to crowned teeth on either side (i.e. two crowns holding a false tooth). I'm going for the bridge, because implants are invasive and involve bone, and I have osteoporosis. I know lots of folks with permanent bridges, and they love them. You do need a floss threader to get underneath the fake tooth, however.
660300 tn?1224793961 I had my Wisdom Teeth taken out 2 weeks ago...ever since then my right lip and chin have been completely numb...I went back to the Oral Surgeon who wants to wait a month to see what happens, I have a follow up appointment in November right before Thanksgiving. Is there anything I can do to help? Based on common experience, how long does nerve damage "usually" take to heal? I feel like I am in the dark...I cannot stand it...
Avatar f tn I woke up on monday morning in extreme pain and with a completely swollen top lip, stretched nose and puffy cheek. Having no idea what was wrong I went to the doctors and was put on amoxcillin (they weren't sure what was wrong as the abscess isn't visible, it is really high up under my lip and quite large).
Avatar n tn Not to mention I couldn't close my upper lip over my front dentures so I looked like I was constantly confused or disgusted at something. The top dentures kept wanting to fall out of place, too. I also have the problem of, when I close my lips, I look like I have a wad of chew in my lower lip due to my swollen gums and the pink part of the denture, right below the teeth, the part that looks like your gums, being rounded and sticking out due to my swollen gums.
Avatar n tn I have to wake up and move my arm to get the circulation going. I feel a numbness above my lip every once in awhile. It seems to happen about once a week. I am very scared that I may have something like ALS. I had symptoms like the above about 8 years ago, minus the tounge problems. Also, my symptoms seem to be worse in the mornings and progress with the day. My questions are: Could this be ALS or MS?
Avatar n tn Best of all, I saw the endo again and he basically told me it's all in my head, the xrays are beautiful, to go ahead and eat on that side (SURE!!) and get the permanent filling put in by my regular dentist. I believe he needs to go in there and check it or I need to see a tmj or some kind of specialist ( I did see a tmj/oral surgeon here, but he said to see the endo, to either redo the root canal or have it pulled, didn't even do a tmj workup on me)> Now, why are these drs.
Avatar n tn it worked for me today and i have all the same symptoms as above for the past month. tried the lip glass and found relief so far today. hope this cures it... we'll see.
Avatar n tn in 1996 i had an upper jaw expansion done to widen my mouth to make room for a dental implant. where i was stitched on the i inside of my upper lip, at the top of my gums i have severe nerve damage on my left side from the area above my left from tooth to about 3 or 4 teeth back. 6 years later, if anything touches in that area (a finger, toothbrush, gauze...) it's enough pain to make me pass out. its stabbing, searing, and burning all at the same time.
Avatar n tn Since I had all my mercury fillings removed (by a qualified specialist) and only when I started refilling the teeth with composite resins did I begin to experience itching (a feeling coming from the inside, out). I had temporary fillings before the permanent ones and those were fine. When I first had the composite fillings applied, I experienced some sensitivity in certain teeth which my dentist redid and used a protective layer before refilling the teeth.
Avatar m tn Now a 2nd urologist, very prominent in his field, has told me the use of a buccal mucosal implant will give far lower chances of recurrence (I am 64). I have 2 questions: 1. Has anyone had either procedure on a very short section of their urethra - interested to hear about post-op recovery experiences, & 2. What are the after-effects on the mouth (eating, drinking, hot liquids, etc.
Avatar m tn Let whatever is in your nose and sinuses drain slowly out of your nostrils, while the hot water of the shower falls on your chest. Put a finger across your top lip if you don’t like the salty water getting in your mouth. After about 20 seconds, snort inward, so the mucus goes into your throat, then do some hawking, and spit it out of your mouth. Repeat once or twice. Then, close one nostril, and blow out the open nostril as slowly and gently as you can.
Avatar f tn however, multiple plaques are relatively common. Usually localized on the chin, cheeks, or neck, involvement of the upper lip is rare. The characteristic lesion is an inflammatory reddish nodule with pustules and draining sinuses on the surface. Hairs are loose or broken, and depilation is easy and painless. Pus-filled whitish masses involve the hair root and follicle. Over time, the surface of the indurated nodule is covered by exudate and crust.
Avatar n tn Also, the EEG, Brain CAT Scan and Brain MRI showed no permanent damage or cause of the TIA. These findings led them to conclude that the TIA was caused by high dosages of Motrin I was taken for a back injury which counteracted with the type of BP Med's I was taken. I am 44 yrs old, over weight and in a very high stress job. I have no motor or memory skills problems. Just the nagging continual symptoms aforementioned.
