Common Questions and Answers about Lip implant permanent

Avatar m tn A couple days later I called my oral surgeon and told him that my left chin and lower lip are numb. He asked me to come to the office to back out the implant a millimeter or two because it might be touching a nerve. On 5/23 the oral surgeon backed out implants #31 and #29. He did tell me that he suspected that implant #29 was possibly compressing a nerve area. Today is 5/30 and the numbness has not gone. Area around tooth #28, #27 and # 26 is very numb (lower lip and chin only).
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. I'm not sure what a radio graphic exam is, but when I told him about the numbness one week after the implant, he said that it might be permanent. I've never cried so much as I have since having this done. I see him again on Monday and my fingers are crossed he will take care of the numbness. Ironically, I only needed the implant because the tooth broke within an hour of him filling it.
Avatar n tn I had a chin implant a week ago today and since then I have had a strange lisp and noticed that when I smile, the middle of my bottom lip dosn't move down. When I talk my bottom lip hardly moves at all, and that is what is causing my lisp. What is weird is that the part that won't move isn't numb compared to the rest of my lower jaw. Is this nerve damage or muscle damage and is it permanent? Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I had a dental implant in the mandible 6 months ago. After complaining of tingling sensations & numbness in the chin & lip, forward to where the implant is, the oral surgeon replaced it with a shorter one after one month. Another 5 months have passed, it has healed nicely & a crown has been attached by my dentist. The tingling is still there. When I touch my chin, my chin & lip tingle. After a routine cleaning & the crown, it seems a little bit worse.
Avatar n tn I had a chin implant placed exactly one year ago following 2 surgeries to bring my lower jaw forward. My chin since the first surgery has always been numb in spots but I always got my huge smile back. Following the chin implant I do not have as big of a smile. He secured the chin implant to the titanium plates used on my jaw surgery which made me mad. Since he used those the chin implant isnt even, even with my real chin it sits up a tiny bit and its not centered.
Avatar f tn I have had a blood clot on my lower lip for more than 2 years now and I have done everything within my knowledge to make it go away but it wouldn't,my lower lip is swollen as a result of this blood clot,it all started with a bad habit of biting my lower lip whenever I am in pain, bored or nervous.I stopped when I realised my lip was getting deformed, now I just feel depressed looking at it and people asking me what is wrong with my lip...
Avatar n tn Hi, It is great to know that you still feel relief despite the dislocated implant. However, you need to ask your pain consultant if the permanent implant procedure can be done as a private patient. It is difficult to comment at this stage without knowing the full details of your agreement. Take care always and hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar n tn I have had one implants removed due to terrible pain from the implant sticking into my lower lip. Now the left side of my chin and lower lip is so painful I leave my dentures out most of the time. I keep them in while at work, but I'm in misery all day. There is severe pain in my upper gums at night. I sleep with my head elevated to an almost sitting position. My dentist and oral surgeon don't have any suggestions. Is there anything I can do to relieve the discomfort?
1345326 tn?1276449602 It would be very prone to fracture there and also the micromillimeter movement could eventually doom the implant. If the span is not too long an implant on both end supported bridge might work great. Or, if you can afford it,having individual implants is another option. I'm sure your dentist can advise you on that. Hope this helps. If I can help further or answer any other questions, please let me know.
Avatar n tn Thinking I'll get the arm implant. What do you moms think?
Avatar m tn m not here to ask anyone for help, but instead to spread awareness for people suffering with CPCBLS (chronic permanent chapped botton lip syndrome). and yes i did just make that up. so if you or anyone you know is plagued with CPCBLS then remember this, there is no hope for you, you will never feel true love, you will never have the confidence to live your life the way it needs to be lived and you will die alone.
Avatar m tn I had a tecnis lens implant a week ago. I have blurry vision near, intermediate and far. My intermediate and far vision is worst than before the implant. My eye was sore after the implantation. I know something is wrong. Is my blurry vision permanent? Should I wait or should I seek a second opinion now?
Avatar m tn 1. take the implant out, which might damage adjacent tooth, as implant was placed in a bad way. 2. open the gum, do bone grafting on outer side of the implant, and do some gum grafting too, as the gum cover the outer side of the implant dose not grow, at the time to place the implant crown, it is going to be ugly. my questions is: for option 2, it looks like a temporary solution, do I need to repeat the same surgery every several years? or, what consequences I might get? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Implants are permanent but removable if you should choose to remove it. I would recommend an implant to keep the tooth above it from protruding.
Avatar m tn i do believe i may have burned the pigm ent in that area of my lip. someone please help me. what should i do? i tried permanent make-up but, it stay for 2 days then disappear. help me.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for bilateral skin sparing mastectomy with immediate expander/implant reconstruction in three weeks. I am very nervous as to how the final results of the reconstruction will turn out. My questions are (1) I am currently a B/C cup, so how long will it take to fill my expanders to this size? (2) Do you always need to have expanders first or can immediate implants be placed? (3) How different will the reconstructed breasts look? (Only immediate family knows of my situation).
4437866 tn?1388119624 ve made up my mind ( again ) that I will not be having my tubes tied after the boys are born. the more I sat and thought about it, the more permanent it got. I dony want to rob myself of the possibility of potentially having another baby later on in my life. ( who knows the father may not be a douche next time lol )... My question is about long term birth control. I'm horrible with remembering to pop a pill everyday and the patch is not going to happen.
Avatar m tn Hello I need your help I'm a mother (37 years old) I had a otoplastic surgery but the doctor wanted to do a chin implant too.......I wasn't sure but he told me if I don"t like he can remove it and I would come back to my pre-op... Then ( 18 days later) I didn't like it and I ask him to remove it but he didn't do it. Instead, he put a little one (he accepted than the first one was to big for me)....
Avatar f tn s opinion, if two three pontic bridges supported by a capped canine tooth and an implant in the lateral position, would not be preferable to a four part bridge supported by three implants and then have the canine teeth crowned separately. Would the natural canine teeth and implants in the lateral position next to them, supporting a three part bridge, be stronger than a single four part one? Any information and opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn There is an infection and I am on antibiotics and the infection is almost all gone, the problem is that my lower lip only the left half and partway down my chin is still feeling numb (like when Novocain is wearing off and it is tingly with some feeling but still considered numb). I am wondering if this numbness will go away once the infection is completely gone or is there a chance that it may be permanent?
Avatar m tn i got one a couple of years ago and after it I was left with a permanent small solid lump /bump on my upper lip recently I noticed another one on my lower lip ,i am starting to get worried i am going to the doctor in two weeks but i am just curious on what it might be and how could i get rid of it
Avatar n tn My 13 y/o is missing ten (yes, ten) permanent teeth. She's been in braces forever and we are looking toward dental implants when she is a few years older. However, I read where implants only last around15 years - is this true? Cost is definitely a factor since we have already spent a small fortune, so I am thinking bridge instead of the implants. Opinions?? Is there any other procedure we might consider? Thanks.
