Lexapro weight neutral

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro weight neutral

lexapro

Avatar f tn Same with weight loss, some folks eat when anxious or depressed and when they feel better, that compulsion is less and they lose weight. This is part of the weight loss and weight gain that you see with antidepressants. And why any same antidepressant can cause a different weight reaction (gain, loss or neutral) in different people who take it. However, there are also people that do not change their eating patterns at all that gain weight and it can only be assumed it is from the drug.
Avatar f tn I have been on celexa for many years and found it to be weight neutral and I have never had a problem losing weight either
Avatar f tn I took Cymbalta for two years and I found it to be weight neutral - no weight gain. Your weight problems are more likely because of your thyroid than Cymbalta.
415867 tn?1323365503 By rana2000 , hello everybody I want your experiences with Prozac is it weight neutral? Does one lose or gain weight from this drug?i'v heard that most people do lose weight from it at least initially but not predictable on the long term use. Are it's side effects tolerable? Is it effective for depression? Please guies I want your help and experiences regarding this drug. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Some have weight loss, some gain, some both. Medication affects everyone differently so it's hard to say until you take it. I've actually list weight since going on lithium, but I've heard of other people having quite the opposite happen to them.
Avatar f tn Do you take a medication that is weight neutral or are you looking for one Babytike?
Avatar f tn I have recently been prescribed Cipralex (Lexapro) and was wondering if anyone could tell me how effective this medication is in treating depression/anxiety. Have you found it helpful and has it caused side effects such as weight gain and insomnia? I've heard it's a weight neutral antidepressant but the label says weight gain is one of the most frequent side effects.
Avatar m tn I take Lexapro 10 mg in the morning, and before that, at night. I am 16 and genetically female. I used to love to flirt and be with my boyfriend, I was depressed but it wasn't as bad. And it used to be really bad. Now, it's worse. Like, it's either that or I feel neutral or like empty. Like nothing at all. I feel like my personality is changing, I feel less creative too. Any reason? Or what are the effects? Is this common? Where my personality is changing.
Avatar f tn Still have anxiety and breakthrough panic attacks. He has given me the choice of lexapro or Zoloft. Since Celexa and lexapro are so similar, I'm concerned that the lexapro won't work given that the Celexa stopped working. On the other hand, he has warned me that Zoloft is more activating, which is not good for anxiety and panic. Thoughts? Advice? Similar experiences?
Avatar f tn If your problem is just anxiety I would try something else first. I find Zoloft to be a bit stimulating for me. Lexapro was very neutral and Paxil was very sedating. But we are each different so you may like Prozac.
Avatar f tn I am trying to find a good medication that does NOT cause weight gain. Please do not tell me SSRI do not cause weight gain. I was on Zoloft for many years & it caused weight gain. Everytime I asked my doctor if it could be the medicine he said "No", so I tried & tried to get the 30 lbs off I had put on from it. I ate a good diet & worked out all the time.. NOTHING. I searched online & found out that many people had this complaint.
Avatar f tn s a drug-induced weight gain, though, then something truly weight neutral will make you lose. Buspar might be a good place to go for long term anxiety control--it's got a low side effect profile, and plays well with bipolar in general. But seriously, you need to get the metabolic things checked out.
Avatar m tn My big question is when are the doctors going to stop telling everyone that they do not gain weight on antidepressants, I have been on lexapro now for 2 yrs, and have gained 25 lbs, I watch what I eat exercise, dance, etc... and the weight will NOT come off. My doctor tells me well you are are at the age of premenopause and at that age, that you are going to gain weight, well I am getting tired of hearing it.
Avatar f tn Lamictal is in a completely different drug class than Abilify, and tends to be very weight neutral. All of the atypical antipsychotics, like Abilify, can cause weight gain, although some are less likely to. That drug class is known for it. Lamictal is an anticonvulsant, and a lot of those (except for depakote) are weight neutral. I don't think you have anything to worry about in the weight department. Make sure to take your Lamictal exactly as prescribed.
616534 tn?1233236497 In my experience Lexapro can make you gain weight that is what my said when he put me on Lexapro. However I was suffering form an eating disorder so I needed to put on weight. My doctor didn't want to put me on any medication that would make me gain weight because I would probably stop taking it and it would not aid in my recovery.
Avatar f tn Seems to be my only worry right now! Has anyone NOT gained weight while taking Lexapro?? Hope everyone is having a great day!
561374 tn?1234486061 Hi everyone! I was recently prescribed Lexapro and Lamictal. I was just wondering if there was anyone who has taken Lexapro could you tell me how long it takes to take effect? Also, does anyone know the major side effects of either of these medications? Is there weight gain?
233622 tn?1279334905 I have not had any side-effects from it and no weight gain. Lexapro is not only an anti-depressant but also has a component in it that helps with anxiety. I have found it to be a good drug and when I wanted to go off ot it, it was easy. I think you will do just fine. It does have the least side-effects it seems that alot of other anti-depressants.
Avatar f tn I take Lexapro and couldn't lose weight, but was assured that it wasn't the Lexapro, even though I watched what I ate and walked 6 miles a day. I changed what I did eat, and lost 50 pounds and have kept it off for 2 years while still on Lexapro. It may not be the amount you're eating but the foods you're eating. I went to healthier foods. You're on a low dose, so I doubt that it's the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn Any you think this is due to Lexapro?? Hard to believe, since I have been on several SSRI's and none of them caused weight gain. I'm on Lexapro now and experienced no weight gain. Have you talked to your prescribing doctor about this? The weight gain could also be caused by other things such as hypothyroidism or DEPRESSION. 10 mg is the smallest dose of Lexapro, tapering off would be like maybe cutting a pill in half but I don't advise it.
771466 tn?1235156638 I dont weight myself regularly but I knew I had gained ALOT of weight but geeze I weight 182.2. WTF???? When my doc asked me if I thought the weight gained correlated with when I started the lex, I thought and said no. Theres no way because I have always been told that Lexapro did NOT cause weight gain. Anywho, I am 5'10 and usually weight around 150. Well then I began to think on the ride home about the last year and a half.
Avatar f tn m on Celexa now but am wondering if maybe Lexapro would be better since anxiety is my biggest concern. Has anyone had suggest with Lexapro. Also does Lexapro cause weight gain like Celexa?
Avatar f tn All antipsychotics CAN make you gain weight, but some are worse than others. Geodon is supposed to be weight neutral, and Abilify mostly weight neutral (won't make you gain or lose). Saphris has gotten a lot of good reviews in the weight department, and I believe Latuda has as well, but these are both still brand only, which might affect insurance coverage (and will affect cost). Unfortunately, there's no way to know for sure if a med will cause you problems without trying it first.
Avatar f tn I think if you read the pi on paxil it has equal weight gain to weight loss making it weight neutral. My friend takes it and it never effected her weight at all. So I wouldn't let that scare you as that is patient dependent. However, you tried it in the past and had agitation/ hyperactivity from it. (you'd probably lose weight over the longhaul with that . . .) So you may want to consider lexapro or celexa.
Avatar f tn There are plenty of antidpressants on the market and sure there are ones that do not cause weight gain. In fact some might cause weight loss. My hypo sister takes lexapro, she hasn't gained weight, in fact she lost big time, although not saying it is due to lexapro. Thyroid treatment should be based on the latest TSH level with another test in 4 to 6 weeks to confirm the first TSH test. Treatment should not be based on previous years because TSH can go back to normal in some people.
