541196 tn?1293552936 Ok I just googled "Anti-depressants during pregnancy" and here are two addresses for you with some interesting discussion: http://www.****.*** and http://www.****.***. Hope this gives you the info you need, but I would be talking to your GP about it.
Avatar f tn you said you were taking Lexapro for the longest time & was 81/2 mos. at the time.Did you take lexapro on the first trimester of pregnancy?
331213 tn?1217164831 Lexapro and Zoloft are two of the preferred options and you can breast feed while taking these, Paxil is now a Class D drug and should NOT be taken during pregnancy, and Prozac is safe to take during pregnancy BUT is expressed in breast milk and has a long half life so this is NOT recommended if you are considering breast feeding.
541196 tn?1293552936 However, you may have a relapse of depression if you stop taking your antidepressant during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, or if you become pregnant while taking Lexapro, do not stop taking the medication without first talking to your doctor.
Avatar f tn I was on lexapro and warned by my doctor that it is on the "schedule c" list for use during pregnancy. I believe that means it is possible for it to have negative effects on the pregnancy. I was also on hydroxizine and seroquel. I stopped taking mine over a month ago as we had decided to try for one more baby and I was afraid of the possible effects. I have 3 kids but wasn't on any of these meds before or during those pregnancies. Not only that but seroquel can prevent pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have not, nor do I know anyone who has, however I do know that your baby will need to be monitored for signs of withdrawal after birth unless you wean off the medication during the last trimester.
958812 tn?1268764172 Visteral can be taken during pregnancy for panic attacks. It is a relatively pregnancy safe version of Xanax that is taken on an as-needed basis (it is also used to help one sleep and with allergies during pregnancy).
202436 tn?1326474333 The decision to take an antidepressant during pregnancy is a personal one and one that must be weighed carefully with your OB/GYN. Not a lot is known about the risks of these meds during pregnancy, and some AD's are considered safer than others. For someone who may be at very high risk for severe depression (which of course can easily worsen during pregnancy)..or someone with history of severe PPD for example, many times it is adviseable that the Mom take the medication.
Avatar n tn Restlessness, hypertonia, jitteriness, irritability and poor feeding occurred in a neonate after maternal use of venlafaxine for depression during pregnancy. The diagnosis was confirmed by a temporary improvement after administration of a low dose (1 mg) of venlafaxine to the boy. The symptoms ceased after 8 days. Best is let your OB know before you get pregnant and get their input on this.
396099 tn?1216254986 Keep the Xanax on hand and use it as prescribed while you are in the beginning phase of the Lexapro. And try to be patient...it can take a while to start working. Like another poster said, it isn't unusual for it to take 4-6 weeks for it to truly make a difference. A lot of people start noticing gradual improvements much before that...but just keep in mind that it CAN take longer. The side effects only stick around for a brief while, though...thank goodness. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn Sorry, meant to add, stay on the Lexapro until you solve your underlying problem in therapy.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Lexapro or any other SSRIs during pregnancy? If so, what did your doctor say, how do you feel and is baby o.k?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have also developed pvcs during pregnancy, and furthermore, ventricular tachycardia during pregnancy, which has since subsided postnatal. Unfortunately, the pvcs have not. I have thousands a day, and some days seem worse than others. I remind myself they're benign In a healthy heart, and so far ekgs, and echos have shown that to be the case. I am also breastfeeding. Are you still breastfeeding? Have your pvcs improved over time? I hope so.
Avatar n tn Does Wellbutrin become ineffective after long term use? Do people develop anger issues over time? One doctor told me that these effects are felt early, but would not present after years of use, and today a Psychiatrist told me that my recent emotional (angry) responses were caused by the Wellbutrin and that I needed to change to Lexapro. I'm confused. Can you tell me which is the better answer?
Avatar n tn You really need to consult your dr or even your pharmacist to get accurate information on what meds are safe for you and your baby ahead of time. Some anxiety meds (i.e. Klonopin and Xanax) are category 'D' - not recommended for pregnant women. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Any notede association between IRBBB and Lexapro use? My mate has recently experienced a hypomanic episode after switching from longterm Zoloft to Lexapro ( Switched due to intractible heartburn, but Zoloft had excellent antidepressant effect) During the early (and unrecognized) phase of the hypomanic episode, a routine ( age 57) ECG was performed and noted IRBBB. This is a new finding, not appearing on any previous ECKs, and is totally asymptomatic.
489656 tn?1249999983 t get diagnosed until about 2004. I hate it so much. I have been on Zoloft and Lexapro...I know that Lexapro is okay to take during pregnancy. When I was pregnant I wasn't on any meds at all and I actually experienced less anxiety because I felt like I had a baby to worry about. I hate how you know you're fine, but your body is telling you otherwise..and it just gets worse. I don't know how many people have told me "just think of something else" well DOY!
