Lexapro for men

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro for men

lexapro

Avatar f tn It stuck for a longtime. I love women and everything about them. Never did I dream or feel anything about men. The OCD got worse and drove me nuts. I know I'm straight and always was. I guess the mind plays trucks on us when we get so stressed out. My doctor recently put me on lexapro and a anxiety pill. Working great but sometimes I have to reassure myself by reading articles that this is normal and it will pass with time.
Avatar m tn If you’re concerned about Lexapro’s effects, I suggest you go see a psychiatrist for a one-time drug consult. Although Lexapro isn’t generally considered to affect sexual functioning, there have been some people who have reported sexual side effects. So go see an expert, and set your mind at ease. From what you’ve written, it sounds like there’s nothing wrong with you. You’ve just convinced yourself there’s something amiss, and now you’ve created a viscous circle.
619354 tn?1222576638 I do currently take Alprazolam at a small and low dosage, and I also will take Tylonol on occasion for headaches. I am looking for the safest way to go about having to take any kind of medication and would like any suggestions on one that may be know to have the least side effects. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro (for 6 mths) in the morning. I dun feel groggy and jittery. How long have you been taking Lexapro?? If you are just starting taking it...give your body some time to accept the medcine. But if this concern you yes pls. speak to your Dr..
Avatar m tn I was on Lexapro for a while and was able to get my condition under control to the point where I only need to take a Xanax on those really horrible days. If you have any specific questions or need support let me know I am very versed in SSRI's and Benzos.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for several years with excellent results for depression and anxiety. It takes 4-6 weeks for medications like Lexapro to reach a therapeutic level in your system. Xanax is a fast acting anxiety medication which you take on an as needed basis. They work in different ways. Be patient, you will know when it kicks in. Take care.
Avatar n tn 5 mg sections) and starting with ¾ (7.5mg) for two weeks, then ½ tablet (5mg) for two weeks, then ¼ (2.5mg) for 2 weeks for a very gradual taper. Again, consulting your doctor first is important so your taper can be monitored for any symptoms you may experience.
Avatar f tn I am gonna start lexapro for bad anxiety. Has anyone had good luck with lexapro taking away anxiety? Especially that chest heaviness that comes with anxiety?
Avatar m tn Lexapro, the brand name for escitalopram, is a widely prescribed medication known for its effectiveness in managing mood disorders. This antidepressant, belonging to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class, offers several benefits to those struggling with conditions like major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. https://buylexaproonlinepharmacy.weebly.
358304 tn?1409709492 Wow, I have been on 20-30mg of Lexapro for anxiety and I have all the same symptoms but now I am haveing really bad head rushes and my blood pressure has shot up. I never sleep good and I am never rested when I wake in the morning. I have always attributed it to just anxiety but I am starting to become concerned.
Avatar f tn It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects? I've read it can be somewhat stimulating which is my problem with the Effexor.
Avatar f tn as he called it. He prescribed me 10mg of lexapro, and told me to take it for a few months. This scares me to death, because I do not want to start something that I will have a hard time getting off of. I also suffer from severe constipation, and I do not want anything to effect that including weight gain. My physician and GI doctor said it was safe to take. I do not want to take these, but I will admit that I have not felt like myslef in months, and I would love to feel normal again.
Avatar m tn With regards to Lexapro,as I understand it, stopping an SSRI you've taken for so long coldturkey can bring about some nasty changes in brain chemistry.Your brain has gotten accustomed to the 10mg and all of a sudden it doesn't have it, hence increased anxiety and sadness.Slappy i know you know that lexapro has a shorter half-life then most ssris, maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to Prozac which has the longest half-life, then you can wean off easier.
Avatar f tn I'm glad the Lexapro is working for you. We will always be OCD which means we will still think stupid irrational thoughts but on medication we are able to let things go more easily. And I firmly believe that we do have a chemical imbalance of neurotransmitters in our brains. Take care and I wish you continued success.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for a while a few years ago but now my insurance won't cover it. At the time, there were sexual side effects too. Now my insurance covers Celexa. I tried Celexa and it was definitely not a good thing, threw me hypomanic/manic. If I could, I would take the Lexapro again and just take the medicine for the side effects (which are covered by my insurance!). I don't remember any weight gain on Lexapro either.
Avatar m tn I tried Wellbutrin for 2 weeks and it made things worse and then went back on 10mg of Lexapro for two weeks and now 20mg of lexapro for about 2 1/2 weeks. My symptoms do not seem to be getting better. I have worse doubts than ever about my marriage (was perfectly happy before), feel disconnected from my kids, lost all drive in doing anything I like, racing thoughts, lack of sleep, lack of appetite, on and on. All typical signs that something isn't right.
Avatar f tn Did you just enter menopause? Because if you did, it could be hormones. But given you've been on a med for years, you must have had an anxiety problem for years. You don't say how long you've been taking the ativan or how often. If you only take it when you absolutely have to, not on a daily basis, you're not going to get addicted to it and it won't be as hard to stop taking.
Avatar f tn You've asked a million dollar question. I wish I knew the answer, my dr's certainly don't have one for me. I have had this problem since I started meds for Bipolar. I don't take an antidepressant. It amazes me that meds don't effect some people in that way. I feel very sorry for my husband and tease he needs to find a girlfriend for that lol. You ask, What do you do? Well I'm not proud to say but I put him off as long as I possibly can.
Avatar m tn Can I take L-Tyrosine if I have to take 10mg of Lexapro and 300mg of Wellbutrin? I am also on Avacor (a mixture between norvasc and benicar) for high blood pressure. I have OCD and have to take these meds.
