Avatar n tn I had *awful* irritable bowel syndrome throughout chemo. Luckily (?), when I also had it during radiation, a nutritionist met with me. She recommended a supplement called "Acidopholis." Avatar m tn But for many years I had suffered from gastro problems which i and to some degree also the docs thought it all comes from the HCV infection, now I see that these problems still remain so i went onto a doc who is speciallist in this area and he told me that eventhough it is not exactlly IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) I should treat it as it is IBS. Also I would like to add that I have had my GB removed about 8 years ago because of GB stones.

Avatar n tn You could have irritable bowel syndrome or some kind of infection going on. Is Lexapro helping. It sounds like you have more than one thing going on. Try getting a CT Scan of the abdomen if you havn't yet.

It is called a bulk-forming laxative, so it is supposed to be good both for bulk forming when you are having diarrhea and for constipation because of the fiber's laxative effects. I also was prescribed Bentyl for a time- you may want to ask your doctor if that would be right for you or not.
Avatar n tn She could be having worms in stool or some infective or inflammatory condition like ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome or celiac disease. She could be allergic to foods like gluten, milk etc. Without proper investigation and treatment you can withhold gluten, milk, sea food etc one by one and see if this helps. Increase fibers in diet and see. If this makes things worse (high fibers) then she has irritable bowel syndrome. Hope this helps.
