541196 tn?1293552936 Ok I just googled "Anti-depressants during pregnancy" and here are two addresses for you with some interesting discussion: http://www.****.*** and http://www.****.***. Hope this gives you the info you need, but I would be talking to your GP about it.
331213 tn?1217164831 Lexapro and Zoloft are two of the preferred options and you can breast feed while taking these, Paxil is now a Class D drug and should NOT be taken during pregnancy, and Prozac is safe to take during pregnancy BUT is expressed in breast milk and has a long half life so this is NOT recommended if you are considering breast feeding.
541196 tn?1293552936 However, you may have a relapse of depression if you stop taking your antidepressant during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, or if you become pregnant while taking Lexapro, do not stop taking the medication without first talking to your doctor.
Avatar f tn I have not, nor do I know anyone who has, however I do know that your baby will need to be monitored for signs of withdrawal after birth unless you wean off the medication during the last trimester.
Avatar f tn you said you were taking Lexapro for the longest time & was 81/2 mos. at the time.Did you take lexapro on the first trimester of pregnancy?
958812 tn?1268764172 Visteral can be taken during pregnancy for panic attacks. It is a relatively pregnancy safe version of Xanax that is taken on an as-needed basis (it is also used to help one sleep and with allergies during pregnancy).
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Lexapro or any other SSRIs during pregnancy? If so, what did your doctor say, how do you feel and is baby o.k?
Avatar f tn I was on lexapro and warned by my doctor that it is on the "schedule c" list for use during pregnancy. I believe that means it is possible for it to have negative effects on the pregnancy. I was also on hydroxizine and seroquel. I stopped taking mine over a month ago as we had decided to try for one more baby and I was afraid of the possible effects. I have 3 kids but wasn't on any of these meds before or during those pregnancies. Not only that but seroquel can prevent pregnancy.
489656 tn?1249999983 t get diagnosed until about 2004. I hate it so much. I have been on Zoloft and Lexapro...I know that Lexapro is okay to take during pregnancy. When I was pregnant I wasn't on any meds at all and I actually experienced less anxiety because I felt like I had a baby to worry about. I hate how you know you're fine, but your body is telling you otherwise..and it just gets worse. I don't know how many people have told me "just think of something else" well DOY!
Avatar f tn s definitely not recommended during pregnancy. It can cause birth defects/miscarriage. If you need to be on something then they will switch you to a safer medication.
439522 tn?1214951189 Quick question. I take 10mg lexapro daily for anxiety, and went cold turkey hydrocodone monday (7.5 mg 4/5 times a day). Will valerian interact with the Lexapro? Any ideas? I'm thinking of taking the valerian tonight to help sleep vs. using a xanax. Trying to beat the stupid RLS...drives me nuts. Yes, I'll try a hot bath before bed...lol....but it happens in the middle of the night.
202436 tn?1326474333 I don't recommend using Zoloft during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. It can cause birth defects and it pass thru the milk. I would not recommend getting back on it and rather go with a therapy to help you cope with depression.
Avatar n tn Hi Joyce. I take Paroxetine also and it's NOT OK to take while pregnant. I was going to try to get pregnant last year so I had this whole discussion with my doctor and she had switched me to Lexapro which I believe is better if you have to take something while you are pregnant but that didn't work for my anxiety and made me sick so I couldn't continue.
Avatar f tn I know Zoloft is not reccommened during pregnancy so I want to get off of it. I take 100mg 1x a day and I worry about coming off of it because if I don't take it right on the hour I can tell. I get horrible headaches. My anxiety has been minimal for the past year and a half or so. I haven't had an attack in a long time. I'm worried that it will come back when I go off of Zoloft, especially since my anxiety is based around the fear of being sick...
396099 tn?1216254986 Do you think you got to hot? I have read that Lexapro can cause anxiety. Maybe you need to cut the Lexapro in half and gradually work up to your full dose. Hang in there.
Avatar f tn And I have been on the generic form of lexapro for anxiety and depression. My doctor made me get off of it 2 years ago with my last pregnancy and now i know once I tell him I am pregnant again it'll be the same response from him that I need to get off of my pill. Even though I will be a mesa without it. Any ladies on here on lexapro /escitalopram and pregnant?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the advice. I have had panic attacks and panic disorder since I was a child. I thought that being on Lexapro during pregnancy would "protect" me from the attacks. Now, I'm terrified because I see that's not the case. I see my psychatrist today, but I am afraid she'll tell me that there's nothing else she can do. I am trying breathing techniques and walks, and they sort of help when I am doing them, but when I stop (to try and work, eat, etc.
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft before I got pregnant but many of my doctors told me to quit taking it before I tried due to it not being good during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have also developed pvcs during pregnancy, and furthermore, ventricular tachycardia during pregnancy, which has since subsided postnatal. Unfortunately, the pvcs have not. I have thousands a day, and some days seem worse than others. I remind myself they're benign In a healthy heart, and so far ekgs, and echos have shown that to be the case. I am also breastfeeding. Are you still breastfeeding? Have your pvcs improved over time? I hope so.
Avatar n tn Darkestlight is correct, Zoloft is a good option and there are several others that are good choices also (prozac, lexapro). If you can, its best to avoid SSRIs during the 1st trimester. It is VITAL that you get off paxil before getting pregnant. This is a Class D drug (known to cause birth defects) and its makers have a class action law suit filed against them. You can NOT stop Paxil cold turkey - this is VERY dangerous. Instead, talk to your doctor about a tapering regime.
Avatar n tn Restlessness, hypertonia, jitteriness, irritability and poor feeding occurred in a neonate after maternal use of venlafaxine for depression during pregnancy. The diagnosis was confirmed by a temporary improvement after administration of a low dose (1 mg) of venlafaxine to the boy. The symptoms ceased after 8 days. Best is let your OB know before you get pregnant and get their input on this.
4043310 tn?1355912647 Two months after he was born i see those bad drug commercials saying babies are having major birth defects from certain antidepressants during pregnancy and lexapro was on the list!! I have been trying to live by the idea that if it isn't naturally occurring then it isn't natural for my baby to have. I've been struggling with depression as well during this pregnancy and all i can say is this too shall pass and definitely do not go through it alone!
Avatar f tn probably not recommended but i stopped immediately...my doctor said i could stay on lexapro or go on zoloft which is a common drug during pregnancy. they are both c class... i wanted a b class...so i am on buspar... but i have to be honest...i am barely getting by...its helped alittle...but am considering zoloft...
20922415 tn?1661860103 During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
202436 tn?1326474333 At the time (3 years ago) my doctor said that there was a recently released study on Celexa during pregnancy and that the results were very good. I believe one of the side effects was having a low birth weight and delivering a little early. It's hard to tell if it was the meds because I had other complications and did infact deliver 4 weeks early with a 4 lb baby. He was a little jittery off and on for the first 24 hours. After that he was perfectly fine.
Avatar n tn My new doc gave me lexapro and after taking that and toprol XL I developed more pac/pvc and even started having arrythmia during exercise. Long story short, I am now off Lexapro, have ongoing anxiety (worse than before Lexapro, never really had anxiety before lexapro) and my arrythmia has been diagnosed as Atrial Fib once my heart rate hits 150+. I can't say if Lexapro caused my problems, but one of the side affects of Lexapro is palpitations (which are actually PAC or PVC's.).
