12714324 tn?1426848387 My dr is trying me on all sorts of meds for my depression/anxiety. He didn't want me on 40mg of lexapro for the concern of my liver but he prescribes effexor and xanax. Don't he know that I could get liver damage with over the counter med. I have been on effexor for two days now I can't sleep. I'm up at 330am est trying to figure out what is going on. I want to get back on my lexapro because for six years on 40mg I was happy go lucky.
Avatar m tn Welcome...U will have to get together with your doctor and get a good taper for the lexapro and xanax...going cold turkey off of both these meds is very dangerous, especially if you have underlying medical conditions...I know in the state i live in there are some places that do take medicare and medicaid...Maybe u can ask your doctor to help u find a place..that is good idea...
397118 tn?1219762250 caution is advised with 5htp and ssris...i did take 100 - 200 mg 5htp when i was on lexapro and had no problems...it is a caution and i was on 10 mg which i really took just 5 mg of lexapro for wds as i halfed my lexapro.....5htp releases serotonin and so does lexapro so the caution is serotonin overload Methionone is the precursor of SAMe and is more stable and more readily absorbed than SAMe and cheaper...it increses enkephlins and not serotonin///they r not the same...
Avatar f tn it can help with liver metabolism and depression both. However you cannot take it AND and antidepressant both...that is unsafe. Sam-e is expensive and not covered by INS but for some in here it worked wonders. Our resident doctor HR recommends it. I tried it...but my deprssion became so severe after surgery that I had to get on something stronger....which is when I went on remeron...it takes about 1-2 months to see any real improvement on these medications so don't expect miracles.
Avatar f tn Taking 5 mg of lexapro. Drank quite a bit of beer last 2 days and very anxious that something bad will happen from lexapro and alcohol interaction. Should I go to hospital?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me Lexapro (anxiety/anti-depressant medication) , I would like to know if it's safe to take if you have HEP B? please help! Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn s very important you advise your doctor your Hepatitis C positive....a disease that effects your liver and the medication you may and may not be able to take. Not everyone fits in the same box. Remember that you are required to sign for new prescriptions.

1475202 tn?1536270977 Two years ago I gave up the alcohol due to liver problems then just a few months ago learned that Lexapro metabolizes in the liver hence making my problems worse. I discontinued using the medication and the withdrawals were very difficult. I had never given any thought to the dependency that is developed from taking this drug. None the less it was well worth it! I still have anxiety, some days are much worse than others yet tolerable without alcohol playing its role.
Avatar f tn My humble and non-medical advice would be for BOTH of you to get back with your doctors and let them know what you are dealing with. Some of these symptoms may just be normal side effects of Lexapro, but some COULD be telling you that things aren't quite as they should be. I would feel much better if you both talked with your docs and figured out why you are having all these symptoms. PLEASE let us know, OK?
Avatar m tn Inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you're taking to avoid potential drug interactions. Withdrawal: Don't abruptly stop taking Lexapro, as this can lead to withdrawal symptoms. Discontinue under medical supervision. Monitoring: Regularly attend follow-up appointments to monitor your response to the medication and any necessary adjustments.
Avatar f tn side effect of Lexapro (and all SSRIs) is atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias. That is what has me scared. Even though it is RARE I am still afraid I will be that one person that has it!
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties. Here's some info on Lexapro that you might find useful. Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder and not addictive.
Avatar n tn I had been on Zoloft 125mg for 8 years and I developed some depression and a hospital Dr stop my zoloft and started 5mg Lexapro for two days then 10mg. I truly feel like I can't stop dizzy panic attack nausea and crying spells. Gave me nothing else.
1475202 tn?1536270977 Other daily meds include xifaxan, lactalose, lexapro and metoprolol. Blood pressure diuretic Lisinopril,Hydrochlorthiazide 20mg/12.5mg. BP is 100/58. Diagnosed at age 38 currently 39 male. 1) Finally on to my question, is it really strange that I don’t have or never have had Ascites or Edema? Is this a problem you see in my future? 2) I’ve tried to provide as much information as possible so I could ask you if you agree with my doctors assessment of transplantation.
Avatar m tn You must know that one size does not fit all concerning drugs. Some people had a bad experience with Lexapro and went to Cymbalta and it was a life saver and the same is true for Cymbalta. Final word, I woud choice between Lexapro and Cymbalta and you must note that i'm not a doctor and you should talk about it with you doctor prior making a decision.
Avatar f tn But whether a drug will work or not depends on so many factors -- how well your liver allows it into your system at all, how well your brain responds to it, whether your brain is tapped out for now on ssris, etc. You just have to try and see. I personally switched for Lexapro, which wasn't working, to Celexa, which also didn't really work for me either, but the side effects were different so obviously something different was happening.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you have a lot going on. First, did your liver tests include just liver function or did they test specifically for Hep C? Has your thyroid been tested? Medications can have some rough side effects - do some reading about yours and see if any of your meds could cause any of your symptoms. Time to work closely with a doctor you trust to make sure there's no condition you have that needs treatment or if you need a med change.
Avatar n tn Ulcers are not listed as a side effect of Lexapro. I would contact your GI doctor about your stomach problems and go from there. We aren't qualified to tell you how to change your prescribed dosage on medication(s). You need to discuss this with your prescribing doctor. Don't assume your stomach problems are due to your medication, it may just be coincidental...ulcers can and do come back.
Avatar n tn No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Avatar f tn recently i have been getting very sharp pains in what feels like inside my middle right hand side ribcage.liver region...all though not long ago had liver function tests and all was ok this starts from my tummy and works its way to my back, only feels a little better if i hold my ribcage. Ontop of this my limbs in general are exremely weak, hands especially i do suffer from poor circulation but this is drifferent, Especially a rather painfull tingiling on my left palm under my thumb.
Avatar m tn Sorry, meant to add, stay on the Lexapro until you solve your underlying problem in therapy.
689327 tn?1240229164 In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .
Avatar m tn re likely to end up with is withdrawal symptoms from Paxil and side effects from starting Lexapro. So get more Paxil from your psychiatrist by phone, and if you want to quit, work out a nice, slow taper that suits you because you won't react like anyone else. You're on a high dose of Paxil. Now, some psychiatrists will switch you to Prozac to help with Paxil withdrawal, because it stays in the body longer. Don't know if it helps or not.
Avatar m tn Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
