Knee cap fall

Common Questions and Answers about Knee cap fall

knee

The pain is still there and I can't walk right, also my knee cap keeps going out and I fall or almost fall. My Ortho gave me a brace to wear and PT to go to, to streng. then muscles around the knee. It hasn't helped. My knee cap is still my own. Why wasn't that replaced with the total knee also? I am so upset and will be getting a second opinion. Any ideas? Thanx.
Between the knee cap where the hinge area turned a blueish gray with hints of red immediately then began swelling. I have a spurts of shooting pain . I went home immediately elevating it and icing it. Oh and wrapped it for compression. It is however the skin is numb. why??
There was minimal swelling, put it's definitely sore and hurts to walk on. There is some bruising on my left knee cap as well, where the second part of the impact from my fall was felt.
The pain is mostly centralized on the right side of my knee cap and at the bottom left side of the kneecap although not as intense. I feel like I would be able to walk normally if it wasn't as stiff. It feels a little unstable and when I walk I feel like its not smooth. Almost like I'm walking like a wind up toy if that makes sense but my limp isn't really contributed to the pain anymore. Anyway, I'm broke. I spent $140 in charges from the emergency care that gave me no real progress.
a year and 1/2 ago I fell down some stairs and landed on cement causing a left knee injury, after a few weeks of physical therapy the swelling and general soreness was better but I had a burning feeling under my knee cap, clicking and grinding, the Dr told me it was normal.
I have a plate in my knee due to a fractured knee cap. However, both knees constantly ache (I am overweight and know I need to lose weight) and if I sit on the floor, I am unable to get back up due to having no strength. this worries me as if I fall in the icy weather, I am worried that I will not be able to get up. Can anyone suggest any exercises I could do to help. If I kneel on the floor it is very sore.

I am 24 years old and for the past 3-5 years I have experienced sharp pains in my knee underneath my knee cap. I was very active in all my teenage years with running and skateboardind. I cannot recall when the pain first began. The pain first starts if I have been sitting down for approximitly 15 minutes. It will start off small and unnoticable then slowly gets worse. The pain will go away when I stretch out my leg and my knee will crack.
I thought it would go away on it's one. But the pain is still there. It's located right below my left knee cap. It feels numb otherwise just kills when I put any pressure on it. Any ideas on what it might be or what I should do?
I also massage my knee and move my knee cap around in tiny circles to unpinch nerves.
I cannot be certain of the cause but at a guess I would say that I first started noticing it a week or so afterr I had a fall onto pavement whilst running (I was wearing knee-pads at the time, so it was more of an impact fall, rather than a wound). More Info : the pain does not appear when I passively flex e.g. a quadriceps stretch. I am 21, have a BMI less than 25, athletic, male. I have no history of joint pains or problems, nor does anyone in my family.
It is now may and it still gives out on me about once daily, It is still numb, and now has a lump extending from the right side of me knee cap to what feels like a boneon the inside of my knee. What could this be?
I am not sure, however, if this is the cause of my knee pain on the right side, but I also fell on this same knee back in the Fall of 2007 and I am not sure if that caused my current knee pain or made an existing problem even worse. Now, I am dealing with alot of pain and stiffness. I do not feel any popping or grinding. Most pain is across the top of the knee cap and along the interior side of my knee.
Im having severe pain in my left leg still and i had surgery in november. My pain is mostly on the side of my knee cap and it swells just by standing, i tried mentioning it to my doctor but he keeps making me wait to see if it gets better, he also recently put my in a patella j brace, to keep my knee in place, but it seems to be making my pain worst.
The Doctor at the ER said it's nothing, just a little swelling on top of my knee. It looks like a good 2-3 cm mass of fluid on the knee cap and is dark red.
I fell and 2 weeks ago with severe bruising and continued pain in my right knee cap and the front of right leg, almost a burning sensation
I went hiking this fall and did approx 12miles in Shenandoah NP, carrying minimal weight, over a half day. Since then, I've had a sharp pain in my left knee, just below my knee cap, but only when straightening my leg after sitting with my legs pulled in, standing for long periods, or sitting in a vehicle for long hours. Rest does not seem to help and to my knowledge, the area around my knee is not swollen or tender to the touch. I haven't taken any falls or landed awkwardly on it.
i am 18 years old .because of fall my knee cap dislocated and tore ligment.cap got fixed by doctor.problem is i cannot lift my leg because of ligment tear .it is already 3 weeks now and hardly any improvment.can u tell me how much time it takes to recover from these kind of injuries.
There doesn't seem to be any swelling at all - and the pain on the left knee is on the side - along the right hand side of the knee cap. I spoke to the Dr this morning and he is sending me to a physiotherapist as he doesn't want to consider surgery - unless it is absolutely necessary. I'm perplexed as to why this is occurring as I didn't have a fall or any trauma tot he knee.
The usual treatment is rice OR rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can wear a knee cap while walking) and elevation (keep leg elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take a NSAID pain killer unless contraindicated in your case. Avoid pressure on the injured leg for long times. If there is no improvement by a week, then before resuming full walking, please consult a doctor. Take care!
I have been to several doctors and noon seems to know what the problem is. One doctor said that the x-rays show a slightly tilted knee cap and some bone on metal at knee cap. Does anyone know if there is still a chance to get better as now doctors just seem to shove me off. The doctor who did the surgery retired a year ago?
Although the pain doesn't show up when I poke or touch my knee, I can duplicate the pain when my knee is slightly bent and I press below the knee cap and rub to the painward side while still pressing. I almost thought it was a chipped bone at first, but now (because of the above) I think it is a collection of fluid and the pain is from the fluid trying to migrate to an area of muscle or tissue that doesn't want to separate. Some of you may be aware of how powerful hydraulic pressure can be.
My pain is usually on the outside side and in the knee cap. Everytime i walk around i hear a cracking in my knee. Last year i went to my doctor and they sent me to physical thearpy. My thearpist said that i had an upsilp with my pelvis and i had tight hamstrings. He gave me streches to do and they havent been helping. I feel that my knee pain has been the worse in the past few months. I feel that i have this bump on my knee. I dont think it is osgood schlatter.
You appear to be having problems along the whole of the knee joint and involves multiple surfaces. Thus the knee cap and knee bones keep rubbing against the underlying cartilage of femur. This can be corrected by braces, taping, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, physiotherapy or surgery. Knee replacement may be an option too. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Seering pain shoots through my knee joint and down the sides of my knee. Have I dislocated my knee? Or is it something like a severe strain?
so my daughter 11 suddenly broke her patella snapped the mpcl off and tore the cartilage that covers the knee cap..dr's are baffled on why her just knee gave out causing her to fall and injure herself..she recently grew 2.5 inches in 2 months could that big growth spur be part of the reason why this happened?..

It also showed some arthritis under the knee cap. The surgery included a scraping and shaping under the knee cap. After surgery there was still sensitivity on the medial side of knee. Surgeon said it was because of the way the knee was held open during surgery and it would fade. It did for a time and now it is back. If I move my left leg from left to right and have some resistance against the foot there will be a sharp pain in the medial meniscus.
