Avatar m tn I had a total abdomen hysterectomy July 17 2014. After surgery I blew up like a balloon all over. I was so distended I couldn't move. Next day my palms were white and was told I was bleeding internally. I got four blood transfusions. Then I was given another catheter and LASIK because I now had fluid on my lungs and my oxygen was low and had trouble breathing. Then I had degenerative heart failure and had a heart moniter for 3 or 4 days.
Avatar f tn i was hospitalized the next day for complications from hernia surgery. since then i have had problems and now im bleeding vaginally which i shouldnt be considering i dont have a period from a hysterectomy. i told my doctor and she said it was from irritation where my ovary was removed but the bleeding went from spotting to a light period. what should i do?
Avatar f tn I am having problems after my abdominal hysterectomy. About 3 wks after the surgery I had a pinching sensation where I thought my cervix would be. I am now 9 wks post surgery and that area is now burning, really bad. CT scan showed nothing. MRI tomorrow. If that shows nothing it is probably pudendal nerve problem. I have all the symptoms of PN or PNE. I'm hoping not, because from reading other posts, that is pretty hopeless. Anybody else with PNE that can provide any advise?
2091079 tn?1332816899 I'm so sorry to read about your complications. NO, IT IS NOT NORMAL TO DEVELOP INFECTIONS AFTER ANY SURGERY! If your surgeon is ignoring your pleas, ask your friends for an ob/gyn who listens. DON'T WAIT! :Look for a responsible and responsive physician. Hysterectomies are MAJOR surgeries. Don't let anyone belittle your needs or concerns. GET HELP!
Avatar n tn Hi there - Since you just had a hysterectomy, I would recommend taking the antibiotic. Your surgery was very recent, and things are still healing, and this makes it easier to get complications from a simple infection like bacterial vaginosis (gardnerella). I understand that you are opposed to it, but I am guessing at some point, you got some antibiotics in the hospital or during your surgery. That's common.
Avatar f tn I have had no other medical issues before this procedure. after my hysterectomy I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes which we figured out I am definately Type1. No family history of diabetes. I just gradually over the following year dropped 37 lbs, became so weak I couldn"t even climb stairs and my vision was worsening by the day. I have since heard that there is a piece of your pancreas, that if it is snipped the result is diabetes.
Avatar f tn I have taken nutrition classes, and I'm in nursing school. I do not eat egg, and I'm lactose intolerant. The surgery did have complications, including nerve damage. My colon was also scarred, which causes irregularity. I have to take laxatives often, doctor's orders. I did yoga 6 months after surgery, and it helped with the healing. I'm just curious about the results other people had.
Avatar f tn Help!!! I have history of many prior abdominal surgeries, and then a hyst, and now I am told I have adhesions due to many pelvic surgeries. History of PCOD BAD! Endometriosis, hysterectomy in 05'. Now my stomach feels like it is on fire, I have to burp and pass gas alot. Could adhesions be causing this? What could this be? I don't know if a surgeon or any dr will treat me, as I dont have any insurance, and dont have SSI or Medicaid yet. Can these adhesions be life threatening?
1380711 tn?1281410086 She had another surgery to put mesh in place to hold the bladder. Both the hysterectomy and this surgery were where the surgeons went in through her vagina. Since then, her bladder has fallen again, and then mesh part is coming through her vaginal wall. To make matters worse, her intestines are also falling and are now somewhat hanging out of her body. Her doctors have no answers for her. She is uncomfortable and scared to have another surgery because it could make things even worse.
Avatar f tn I HAD HYSTERECTOMY THREE WEKS AGO, I JUST HAD INTERCOURSE WITH MY HUSBAND EVEN THOU HE WAS REAL CAREFUL, AFTER HE CAME IN ME I FELT LIKE I WAS SWOLLEN AND IN PAIN, IS THIS NORMAL, CAUSE THE DR SAID NO SEX FOR 8 WEEKS AND WE ONLY EAITED 4, QUESTION CAN THER BE A FATAL COMPLICATIONS AFTER THIS.
482924 tn?1333203671 After that from the fifth day I was on the same medicine again. Now the doctor says that I should opt for hysterectomy surgery as the problem will recurr if I stop medicine. Is it true? Pl suggest urgently.
1930941 tn?1400107522 Unfortunately there were some complications. I had a lot of scar tissue from my hysterectomy and the surgery lasted 3 1/2 hours and the surgeon nicked my bowel. Because of the "nicking" which is really a laceration, I cant eat solid foods until next Tuesday, and pain and recovery time are worse. I just got home from the hospital, and feel like crap. My spirits are high, but so is the pain. Without much of a choice, I agree to take the pain meds at home. If I didn't, the Dr.
Avatar n tn Okay, so you did have your uterus removed also. You may want to do some research on Bio Identical hormones. Ask your Dr if he/she prescribes them. If they don't, you can probably find a Dr in your area that does. Take care.
Avatar m tn would like to know if anyone out there has had any complications with the monarc sling/transvaginal mesh surgery? i am 56 yrs old, healthy, never had surgery til i had a hysterectomy followed by a bladder suspesion surgery last aug....did not have any leaking from bladder...all possible test were run...everything was fine...had prolapse uterus/bladder. the surgery went well & 8 wks/plus recoop went well...followed both the gynecologist & urologist order to a T....
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn m done having kids and pre-menopausal, the doctors and I opted for a complete hysterectomy via abd. surgery. I had it 04/08, and am feeling worlds better. I know it's very important to keep what you can... and there are reasons for wanting to keep that ovary. But it's a situation you and your doctor/onc. should evaluate. While I may need HRT down the line, or have complications later, this invasive surgery is something I can only live through once. I was blessed.
Avatar f tn My gynecologist recommends a partial hysterectomy along with the bladder repair as she feels the uterus will drop down after surgery failing the bladder repair. Uterus is dropped some however not diseased to my knowledge. The urologist recommends no hysterectomy as after bladder is repaired the uterus will place correctly. I have researched and am aware that many women are having complications arising from mesh repair and am very apprehensive about the mesh repair.
717440 tn?1292743742 The recovery time will depend on which surgical procedure you will get. I got an abdominal hysterectomy which involves a longer recovery time; I was off work for 12 weeks only because my work involved lifting; I am an RN. My ovaries were not removed. Pain was really the only issue after surgery, but it was not terrible. During surgery, well, I was out and experienced no complications. Months later, I noticed I gained quite a bit of weight.
Avatar f tn essentially abandoned me after the op. He visited me once during my week stay in the hospital. I feel so violated and essentially raped by this that I cannot look at babies or talk about the "procedure" to this day without crying. Even typing this I am crying. I know that the "doc" couldn't do this without my husband's consent but based on what he was told he thought it HAD to be done while I was in surgery right then.
Avatar f tn My Dr. told me if I want to keep my uterus, i need to undergo surgery of uterus removal after some time. Hence, I requested her to remove uterus as I had already undergone caesarian. Now, I am afraid will I need any hormonal tests ? How do I survive ? Will I get a menopause or any side effects. I am in such a medical emergency that I requested to remove the uterus. I am very much worried. I need to serve for another 26 years.
Avatar n tn Do adhesions from a Hysterectomy get worse or cause future complications if not surgically corrected or is it just to help the pain? Should this be performed by a surgeon or the GYN doctor who performed the Hysterectomy? Thank you!
Avatar f tn 7 percent) had serious complications, and 48 (4 percent) were readmitted to a hospital within the year following surgery because of conditions related to hysterectomy. The most common serious complications were related to the incision or urinary tract problems. TABLE 1 Problem Relief with Hysterectomy Symptoms Improved 12 months post op back pain 72% Vaginal bleeding 99.
442027 tn?1209866342 If I had to make the decision over again, I would have taken a much more conservative approach to the incontinence issue, and stopped after that first surgery. The hysterectomy that I had really was not necessary, and I was not one of the more fortunate patients (my mother had no problems with it, so I thought it would be ok).
Avatar m tn I had the Novasure procedure in jan 2010. I was told that all went well and i went home 2 hours after the procedure. I suffered from cramping and slight bleeding and all seemed well. the next evening i did not feel well so i went to bed. about an hour later my husband checked on me to find me shivering with a really high temperature. i ended up being rushed into hospital that same night and doctors diagnosed me with streptococcal septicemia. I was put in to icu and was very poory.
