647120 tn?1256601651 When I started seeing a pain manager for chronic leg pain last fall, she said it was nerve pain without doing any diagnostics. She put me on morphine, and I've had ups and downs with it. Now I am considering going back to square one by weening off of morphine and seeing what my pain level is. It is almost a year since I had L4-5 spinal fusion, and I hate the side effects, costs, and stigma that go with taking this class of drugs. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?
Avatar f tn The only medication that works for me is Hydrocodone or similar and I only take 1 at night when I can no longer handle the pain and burning.
Avatar f tn How in the world can you make the sciatic nerve pain go away! I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and since 25 weeks or so I've had this horrible sciatic pain that doesn't let me walk at times, it gets really intense! Any pain relievers aside from Tylenol or warm pads?
Avatar f tn The nausa is finally gone to the point where I can eat more. My first PM doc messed me up worse than before, now my left foot and big toe is numb as well as my right big toe,( which I thought was numb due to the swelling from my allergic reaction) ( which is finally all clear) and left leg has a dull ache, I found a really awesome new PM doc which has explained more than any other doc has and I have fiborsis from the scar tissue and it forming on the sciatica nerve stem.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking 15 mgs of hydro, gabba for nerve pain, and a million creams. I am treating my nerve pain with so many different creams but I feel like it is getting worse. CANT STAND IT! My entire left body is so out of wack! lately, i cant brush my hair on the left side because it is so sensitive. Am i on the wrong meds? What do you think of the hydro 15mgs extended release verses the 7.5 mg of hydrocodone?
Avatar f tn Deb, Have you tried Lyrica yet? Recently approved for Fibromyalgia. Fortunately, I do not have that condition, but I do have nerve pain and it worked wonders. Probably reduced my pain level from about an 8 to about a 3. Thus far I have not had any side effects from it. Ever since my doctor put me on it, I want to shout the the world! Just a thought you can take to your doctor....
Avatar n tn I cracked a rib, twisted my ankle and was banged up. But for years I have battled pain of nerve damage in my hip (never would take pain meds). This dr. put me on hydro I loved them....In dec. I knew I was hooked. I guess I just finally admitted it to myself. I talked to her about it and wanted to quit them, she wanted to put me on methadone! I refused. I have finally gotten up the nerve to flush them. I am 4 days cold turkey. The 1st thru 3rd days were hell. But I feel so much better today.
Avatar m tn The prescription is done and he tells me just to take Advil now. I am confused as to why a Dr. would be reluctant to prescribe pain medications for something as painful as this condition? Should I be seeing a specialist of some sort? I have been taking NSAIDS like candy and very little relief. I cannot leave the house. I just lay in bed and moan most of the day.
429432 tn?1343594190 I was prescribed robaxin 3 months ago. I have chronic pain and a failed back surgery. My DOC was hydrocodone. I liked the uppers, not downers. It's highly unlikely that I'll ever become addicted to this. I hate the way it brings me down and makes me sleepy. But when the burn kicks in, it does relieve. I just cant take when working or driving. I had gotten a bottle of 60, and I probably still have 50 in 3 months. Give it a shot if you know you won't like downers.
Avatar f tn I turned down morphine pump and nerve blocks got down to 50mg hydrocodone on my own, although lately pain swelling so much worse I have started taking higher doses of hydrocodone again to get grip on pain and function thru the day. I am seeing chiropractor just as of last week says he can help I am hopeful! Want off daily meds!
Avatar f tn I have neuropathic nerve pain from a botched neck spinal fusion 2013. After 2 more spinal fusions to correct the problem it was determined that the problems i am having cannot be corrected. I am left with permanent damage and neupathic nerve pain. To add to it my lower back has disc compression issues. I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I have been taking hydrocodone for multiple issues for almost 10 years. It doesn't seem to be helping much anymore and I need suggestions on something new to try. I don't want to go to percoset, because it works post surgery where morphine does not. Tramadol causes me to have seizures (they think) so it's off the table, and they gave me demerol for dental pain once but it did nothing. So I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on something new to try.
Avatar f tn I did some research on my own and went out of province to a private clinic to pay for a nerve block. I had that on Jul 19. I am still in pain and have contacted the clinic again and they booked me another appt. for Aug 20 to have a second nerve block done. My question is that if it didn't work the first time, will it work the second? It is costing me alot of money and I have tried physio and massage as well as accupuncture and it didn't help at all. It accually made me worse.
Avatar f tn What do the DR. give for chronic pain. I quit taking hydrocodone 10mg 51/2 months ago because they didn't help my pain. The pain gets so bad I can hardly stand it. ( nerve pain) anymore. I go to a surgeon the 28th of April. to see what he can do. The pain management Dr. said the injections would not work for what's wrong with me ( he's the one that sent me to the surgeon . I don't need the injections anyway, they make my sugar shoot to 300 and stay there for a few days.
Avatar f tn Had That Same Problem @34 Weeks My Doc Said The Baby Was On A Nerve In My Hip & He Provided Me Some Hydrocodone, The Pain Left A Day In Half & iWas Back Walking....
Avatar f tn Is the lab detecting minor amounts of hydrocodone -- then this is normal for codeine metabolism. But if it is detecting a therapeutic dose of hydrocodone, then its presence can't be due to the metabolism of codeine. Here's a reference for your doctor's use: http://www.wardelab.com/22-2.html#t1 I hope this helps. Best wishes with your pain management routine.
Avatar n tn I've been in severe pain for 15 years, and it keeps getting worse. My doctor put me on Hydrocodone 10/660 about 10 years ago, and it has worked wonders and kept my pain level down to a 2 (scale 1-10). Now, I'm told she can't prescribe it for me anymore, and has cut me back to 10-335. I feel like I've gone backwards in time. I'm back to soaking me feet in ice water, and coating my feet with Capazation, just for a little bit of temporary relief.
Avatar f tn I just wanted to add my support and suggest one more thing that works for my RLS and nerve pain. I take Icy Hot and rub it on my legs then wrap them snugly in ace bandages. You can sleep like this as long as you don't wrap them too tightly. It really helps a lot. (The Icy Hot is optional. Sometimes if I run out I will just wrap my legs and it is very helpful too. Must be the pressure that helps.
Avatar f tn Hi guys I'm new to this site and need some advice...I've been suffering from chronic back pain for 4 years and have seen many docs, and I've gotten nowhere this far...Ive had 2 surgeries and been seeing a pmp for almost one year...he's got me on lorcet plus 4 times a day and it isn't touching the pain...because this doc acted like there was no longer acting better effective meds I went to a different doc...
Avatar f tn you will more than likely get some relief. It is commonly prescribed for diff types of nerve pain, chronic pain and neuropathy (as is it's cousin noritriptyline which Mary metioned above) I think you will feel some improvement once it gets into your system. Also, gabapentin (Neurontin) has been mentioned above. It, too will help. I was on BOTH of those meds (Ami and Gabapentin) and my neuropathy was so much better then. I hear you on the hydros not being effective....
1187071 tn?1279369698 After my surgery on my mouth the LAST one I was on Percocet and I remember when I was taking them I thought wow the pain has went away that is until the meds ran out and boy was I stupid for thinking that. So I know the Percocet will help me alot with the pain.
Avatar m tn i had no idea what this was. on crutches for two weeks. could not put even a sheet over my foot, or walk on it. stabbing pain in my thigh and foot. then it moved into my right foot, and up my leg into my groin. i have been to seven doctors. neurologist, orthopedic, family, foot doctor. i had nerve induction tests. two sets of m.r.i.`s., x rays . seven months later i still have constant numb tingling pain in my feet , thighs, i have pain in my penis. trouble urinating and with erections.
1359227 tn?1282522148 I have given it to alot of patients with nerve pain; it worked for some and not for others. I have never taken it personally. You should just take it and see if it works for you.
Avatar f tn I, like so many of you, started innocently by taking hydrocodone for chronic back pain. I have 1 bulging disc, 1 herniated disc, sciatica and degenerative arthiritis in my lower back. I have also been referred to a neurosurgeon for nerve impingement. :( I am 34 yeras old with a wonderfully blessed life, however Hydrocodone has ruled my life for 2 years now.
Avatar m tn I have no idea about robaxin - but my guess is that any drug after 5 years is not going to work as intended. I've seen many people here have the same experience that I've had though - that after coming off the pills, your pain isn't nearly as bad as it is ON the pills. I really think because your body craves the opiates, it creates more pain - and creates a vicious circle. I have severe disc degenerative disease - 4 of my discs are pretty much non-exisistant.
Avatar f tn I started going to a clinic 7 days ago to seek help for Hydrocodone withdrawals. I had been on Hydrocodone for about 4 years and my new Dr felt Methadone would help. Day one they gave me 30mg. I could not function and I was very sick, vomiting, etc. I told them that was too high that I wanted no more than 10-15 mg per day. I was a little shocked at their encouraging people to take high doses and increase 5 mg per day.
