Avatar n tn I am going to a pain specialist so that I can work and to avoid another back surgery! I am confused about pain meds. I am taking Vicuprofen 3 x a day. Is it Ok to take this med forever? The only other thing I could do would be a steel rod in my back.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with upper back pain for almost 8 months also numbness and tingling in my right arm and leg. I have been seeing a D.O and we finally got and MRI done and it just showed a small bulging disc in my "t" area. I had been a heavy drinker until 2 years ago. I have been taking 10 mg of valium for over 2 years and then the doctor had me on hydrocodone 500/5 1-2 a day for about 6 months. I have no other symptoms but the pain is horrible. My D.O.
Avatar n tn He give me muscle relaxers and pain killers and told me if in two weeks it was not better to come back for more tests. It subsided for a couple of days and now is my arm is in severe pain. I have sharp pains in my neck that migrate or immediately radiate into my wrist. Almost feels as if my arm is broken. Also my right index finger has been numb from day one with no sign of recovery. I have absolutely no strength left in this arm. I can barely hold my arm up.
Avatar n tn I've been in severe pain for 15 years, and it keeps getting worse. My doctor put me on Hydrocodone 10/660 about 10 years ago, and it has worked wonders and kept my pain level down to a 2 (scale 1-10). Now, I'm told she can't prescribe it for me anymore, and has cut me back to 10-335. I feel like I've gone backwards in time. I'm back to soaking me feet in ice water, and coating my feet with Capazation, just for a little bit of temporary relief.
Avatar f tn I started going to a clinic 7 days ago to seek help for Hydrocodone withdrawals. I had been on Hydrocodone for about 4 years and my new Dr felt Methadone would help. Day one they gave me 30mg. I could not function and I was very sick, vomiting, etc. I told them that was too high that I wanted no more than 10-15 mg per day. I was a little shocked at their encouraging people to take high doses and increase 5 mg per day.
Avatar f tn Is the lab detecting minor amounts of hydrocodone -- then this is normal for codeine metabolism. But if it is detecting a therapeutic dose of hydrocodone, then its presence can't be due to the metabolism of codeine. Here's a reference for your doctor's use: http://www.wardelab.com/22-2.html#t1 I hope this helps. Best wishes with your pain management routine.
Avatar n tn i've had back pain for about 1 year from a car accident and my doctor will not give me any help at all he's givin me toadol, tramadol, but nothing like hydrocodone, or oxycodone and i don't know why im in a hell of a lot of pain but i don't know what to do?
620048 tn?1358018235 m not clear on your reason for cutting back on pain pills. If you only want to decrease your daily acetaminophen intake to a safe level this will be fine. It does nothing more than that if you also intended to decrease your daily narcotic intake.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I have been taking hydrocodone for multiple issues for almost 10 years. It doesn't seem to be helping much anymore and I need suggestions on something new to try. I don't want to go to percoset, because it works post surgery where morphine does not. Tramadol causes me to have seizures (they think) so it's off the table, and they gave me demerol for dental pain once but it did nothing. So I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on something new to try.
Avatar m tn Long story short I started abusing pain pills 2 years ago because I was not being adequately prescribed for my back injury. Most recently 7.5mg per day of hydrocodone great 3 hours of semi pain relief a day. I have stenosis and arthritis in l4 l5 s1. so I started outsourcing my medication from 3rd parties I fully acknowledge this is wrong but I pleaded with my doctor and presented research ect. Well I was spending a fortune on pills and it has admittedly gotten far out of hand.
Avatar f tn Do you take any anti-depressants now? I wasn't depressed when I started the medicine, which I take for pain, but I'd rather be in pain then feel the way I do. I through the Hydrocodone away and told my doctor to never give it to me again. I am not craving it, I just wish my zoloft would work like it had, but now I don't know if I have just messed up my system for a while. Depression or pain - I'll take the pain.
Avatar m tn My question(s) are primarily about pain treatment for my neck and back. I will start with what happened, what I was given, what I'm on, and where I'm currently at. After sustaining Bi-Lateral wrist fractures i.e. (Left & Right Triquetrium, & Left and Right Styloid) in addition to a CV3 fracture, I was hospitalized for almost a year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where I was to recover.
647120 tn?1256601651 When I started seeing a pain manager for chronic leg pain last fall, she said it was nerve pain without doing any diagnostics. She put me on morphine, and I've had ups and downs with it. Now I am considering going back to square one by weening off of morphine and seeing what my pain level is. It is almost a year since I had L4-5 spinal fusion, and I hate the side effects, costs, and stigma that go with taking this class of drugs. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?
Avatar m tn I have bone spurs and disc problems in my neck I have been on hydrocodone for 5 years and they do not do what they started out doing I take 10/325 4 times daily the doctor put me on morphine 15mg 3 times daily but they make me very sleepy so he put me back on hydrocodone is their anything that does not make you sleepy stronger than the hydrocodone.
Avatar n tn By the same token, if a doctor prescribes, say, 50 Vicodin or hydrocodone (or any Schedule III narcotic) for you and you cannot afford to buy the whole prescription at once, you CAN buy whatever you can afford, leave the rest at the pharmacy, and go back at another time to pick those up. With Schedule II narcotics, if you cannot afford to purchase the whole prescription at one time, you must forfeit however many you cannot afford to pay for at the time.
Avatar n tn I have actually been taking almost the same combination for the past couple of years - I take hydrocodone/APAP 7.5/750 (Vicodin) 3x daily and alprazolam (Xanax) 0.5mg 4x daily. Do you have the same pharmacist fill both prescriptions? He/she would be the best person to ask if you have any worries about combining the two medications.
Avatar m tn I was precribed darvocet for joint and back pain,Can anyone recommend a better pain med without the acedamedafin(sorry for the spelling)Ive been taking darvocet for 7 years and its not working anymore
Avatar f tn I have taken the hydrocodone 7/500 tabs with this pregnancy due to severe back and hip pain. I also took it for a wisdom tooth removal with one of my other pregnancies.
298029 tn?1211188840 I WAS ON 34 DAYS OF ANTIBIOTICS AND MY IMMUNE SYSTEM IS SHOT. I ALSO WENT BACK TO MY PAIN MEDS RECENTLY FOR MY BACK AND NECK. I AM ALREADY BUILDING A TOLERANCE AND I'VE INCREASE MY DOSAGE ALREADY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY BODY BUILDS A TOLERANCE SO QUICKLY. MY QUESTION IS: HOW LONG DOES IS TAKE FOR A TOLERANCE TO HYDROCODONE TO GO DOWN , SO I CAN DECREASE MY DOSAGE TO GET THE SAME EFFECT? I DON'T WANT TO KEEP INCREASING MY DOSAGE.
Avatar m tn I too have been taking 750mg vicodin for back pain. I have been taking it everyday for the last 7 years. I tried stopping around 3 years ago and it lasted a few months and then I started taking it again due to the pain etc. I recently have gotten so fed up with taking these pills. I used to take on occasion 8 pills a day but for the most part I would take 3-4 pills everyday on a regular basis. As soon as I got up and then I would take some with me everywhere I went.
703238 tn?1297098358 You are right everyone is different but vicodin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, ete. are all drugs used for pain such as muscle pain, bone pain, cancer pain or complications after cancer. They are never used for Bipolar treatment. You really do need to see a psychiatrist and let them know what you are using. You are only setting yourself up for a great fall. What happens when you can't get those drugs anymore?
Avatar f tn My thoughts are that the combination of the anestesia which can effect your body for a few days afterward and/or the fact that the pain from the extraction is in the back of your mouth so closely connected to your ear and in your head it can make you feel the way your describing.
Avatar m tn Im a Fibromyalgia patient with severe body aches and pain bad enough for narcotic pain killers. I get urine drug tested every month when i go to get my prescriptions from a pain management clinic. I have tested positive for either Hydrocodone or Oxycontin the last 6 times I tested. I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me.
