I have a question, I am a director of an activity for 25, and an instructor of mine recently told me he is HIV. Should I inform the parents? Is there risk for my kids? Should I inform the board? I just don't know enough, and I know they will not be happy if the director doesn't tell them, but I also know alot of the parents are not open minded on certain situations. This really falls under OCD and limited knowledge of HIV / AIDS, you will find it that incidental exposure rarely result in transmission-and by rare i mean almost never. Especially in the scenario mentioned, so feel at ease and try to learn the real routes & means of transmission in regards to HIV / AIDS. The virus does not lurk on door knobs and gates, ect, we all have it, this is why you never hear about people contracting like this.

AIDS is caused by the HIV virus and everyone who has AIDs has the HIV virus but not everyone who has the HIV virus has AIDS. This is because AIDS is a far advanced stage of HIV infection at which time the infection has progressed to the point at which the infected person's immune system cannot any longer prevent certain infections or other complications of immune deficiency from occurring. The virus is what is passed from person to person and is what causes AIDS.

If Penalising concerned people who may have potentially life changing and threatening circumstances is how med help try to support people in these situations I wouldn't want to be a member or supporter of a site like that! sounds really harsh. I suggest med help change there opinion of this.

I have come into contact with virtually every type of body fluid there is and I've been "needle stuck" more times than I can count. Over a period of 15 YEARS, that works out to hundreds of "exposures." I have NOT contracted ANY disease, nor have any of my co-workers.
I think your best course of action would be to seek therapy for your out of control health anxiety.
