fluoxetine sleep

Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.

I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.

Given your underlying medical/psychiatric conditions, your best and most credible answer will come from a medical professional who examines you and knows your complete medical history. That said, I'm wondering if you've tried any nondrug sleep improvement methods, particularly CBT adult sleep training methods. Those are proven effective and help most who try them. Might be a better solution for you.

Hi all been on fluoxetine before now and used to take it at tea time 3 years ago but this time round been on it 5 weeks now and was feeling good after 1-2 weeks but just this last week having difficulty sleeping and feeling rubbish because I thought it was working after the first week anyone suggesting this med is best taken in the morning instead of tea/night time also I'm only taking 20mg not to sure wether this needs increasing if I feel rubbish after feeling good.

So this morning iv put my foot down and told my doctor I knew fluoxetine was doing nothing for me like it had done 3 years ago and needed a change after persuading him and listing all the side effects I was getting he changed me to mirtazapine 30mg to be taken a night with a good drink of liquid my post really is to anyone out there have they had this change and was it better for them?

Hey, I have been taking the generic fluoxetine hydrochloride 10 mgs tablets for about 1.5 years now. My pharmacy recently changed manufacturers and the tablets are now blue... I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-...

If you took a lot of both drugs, Melatonin and fluoxetine. Would/could they do any serious damage? I am on fluoxetine and take melatonin regularly.

I was just like you, and the only thing that helped me sleep was amitriptyline. It's an antidepressant as well, but I was on a very small dose just for sleep along with the fluoxetine I take during the day. I've gotten to the point now that I don't need anything to sleep, which is great. Amitriptyline isn't addicting, which was my biggest worry when my doctor and I tried to figure out what I should take.

I have been taking a lorazepam to sleep for many months now and it used to work great. I also take fluoxetine, lamotrigine and singulair daily. Anyone heard of this or have ideas? Thanks.

That helps our sleep arousals, which may not wake you up, but lighter sleep stages wont get you the growth hormone manufacture that is needed for daily tissue repair. Couple of thoughts. Have you honestly reduced your amount of repetitive work yet? Some (a lot) fibro patients are going to have to cut back, perhaps significantly. Standards of cleanliness may take a negative adjustment, and family members will need to pitch in and/or an occasional maid service gets things caught up.

My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.

I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?

ve tried Fluoxetine and it worked to some extent, but I had to discontinue because I experienced severe dry mouth/throat to the point I'd wake up in the middle of the night and cough for a half an hour (even drinking a full glass of water at bedtime didn't help) and that affected my sleep quality ... Could be due to the high dosage (60mg) I was on ... It took this much for Fluoxetine to ease my depression. Now I've switched to a combination of Bupropion 200mg + Fluoxetine 20mg.

I'm currently taking zopiclone for sleep been taking them for ten days. Can I just stop taking these? I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety I'm also currently taking propranolol and fluoxetine.

have been on 20mg of fluoxetine for about 6 years now. It has been a God send helping me to live a proper life again. However 4 wks ago I had my 3rd baby & I now feel awful again. For the 1st time ever my doc has increased my dose of fluoxetine from 20mg to 40mg. For the 1st 3 days I felt normal again but out of no where my anxiety & panic levels have increased majorly to the point it feels I am just living in a panic attack constantly.

m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?

i am taking fluoxetine for anixety,panic i feel sick and nausea all day , i can only eat a little bit then i feel very full. i am also having heartburn with this does anyone else take this medication and if so do you have or know if these symptoms are normal?

Ive been to the doctors and they put me on Fluoxetine tablets. One a day until they tell me to stop. However I've had two so far but want to stop. I know you have to slowly come off of them but if I've only had two can I just stop? Please help!

Do not stop taking fluoxetine without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking fluoxetine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as mood changes, irritability, agitation, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, anxiety, confusion, headache, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.

I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder 9 years ago an dhave been on fluoxetine for 9 years. Six weeks ago I came off it due to REM sleep disorder and suspected Parkinsons. I'm really struggling to stay sane.

I was on 20mg of Fluoxetine but it wasn't making me feel any better so I got put on 50 mg of Sertraline. On the packet it says that I have to increase to taking two tablets after two weeks of taking one. I tested positive but I am allergic to Fluoxetine Hcl, Diphenhydramine Hcl, Doxycycline, Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, Fluoxetine, Azithromycin and Amoxicillin-Pot Clavulanate. What antibiotic can I take to treat this? Amoxicillin?
