I was on Wellbutrin before the tumor/surgery and was feeling great. Afterward they put me on fluoxetine and topamax (I no longer have migraines and weaned myself off both). About a month ago I wanted to try stopping the Wellbutrin, and my gp told me to just stop it (300 xl). I was hesitant but decided to try it. I lasted about a month and noticed I was starting to feel weird so I went back on (been about 4 weeks now). Here's the question!
I took Zoloft for several years, till it stopped working and I was switched to Wellbutrin. That was 10 years ago, and it's still working fine for me. The part of Wellbutrin that stopped workking, though, is the appetite suppressant. That part just worked for about 3 years before it left.
I'm on Bupropion 300mg/day and Xanax (0.25 - 0.5mg as needed). Also taking Metoprolol 25mg/day for hypertension. I'd like to ask my doctor to add Fluoxetine to boost my serotonin. Are there any bad side effects from combining these meds?
I also take Wellbutrin & fluoxetine. I just started the Wellbutrin about 3 weeks ago. After about a week to 10 days the shaky side effects wore off for me and like you I went back to feeling down again. Now 3 weeks in my Doc upped my dose to 300mg, the 150mg was the starter dose. I just accepted the unpleasant effects (anxiety, lack of sleep, irritability) as my body getting used to a new med. beacuse I knew the positive out weighed the negative because WellB.
I'm curious if you are on any prescription meds? I have had patm for over two years. I take Wellbutrin (bupropion) for depression. I'm experimenting with a few weeks without the medication and I think it may be reducing reactions. Any one else on prescription meds, specifically depression medication?
This is entirely dependent on your individual reaction. For me, neither was much of a factor with any of these things, and most ssris other than possibly Prozac tend to be sedating when they work well, but still, some will get these problems and some won't. These two meds are very similar. Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. Reportedly it has fewer side effects, but who knows if that's really true?
Wellbutrin enhances dopamine and norepinehprine which can help with mood and attention, but sometimes actually increases anxiety. If you try Wellbutrin, start at a low dose and see how if affects you.
I have the same dilemma as you had in 2010 with your donor, my donor has major depressive disorder and takes wellbutrin and fluoxetine. My RE also said that drugs do not effect egg quality..
My questions to you is: are your twins from the eggs donated by same donor who was on wellbutrin?
How are the twins doing...did every thing go normally during your pregnancy, delivery and babies are healthy?

Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.
I have been on and off medication over the years and I would say that maybe since 2010 to 2011 I have been back on meds...Wellbutrin and Klonopin at night.
I spent a good amount of time off of meds but I was never OCD free. Honestly I think it depends on your life and the amount of stress in it. I think I had less stress so my OCD was manageable. I had to eventually go back on it when stress got the better of me...long story.
not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..
Fluoxetine (Prozac) has the slowest elimination of the SSRIs.
Hello Everyone. I am taking the following antidepressants and I'd like to know if I can discontinue these all of a sudden.
My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night
So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.
I am 38 years old and 4 and half months pregnant with my first baby. Before getting preg. I was taking 20 mg of fluoxetine once a day. When I first found out I was preg. i stopped. I recently experienced panic attacks and my doctor prescribed the same medication. Is it safe for my unborn child? I am very concerned please advise me!

Lately, I have been having bradycardia issues, specifically in the evening time. My pulse is usually between 48 and 52 beats per minute... which is a bit low for me. I am taking the medicine for hypertension... but since heart disease runs in my family and fish oil has some pretty good evidence behind it, I thought I would take it 2. Any comments, suggestions?
i just started on fluoxetine and it depends on when you take it, if your taking it in the morning then switching to the evenings should solve the problem.
