Fluoxetine and celexa

Common Questions and Answers about Fluoxetine and celexa

prozac

Avatar f tn My Fluoxetine was increased from 40 mg to 60 mg two weeks ago because I was still have panic attacks and a nervous feeling in my stomach. So now I have been taking Fluoxetine for 8 weeks total. Since the increased dose I have noticed for the past four days that I get a shivering feeling inside. I know that sounds weird, but that's the best way I can describe it. My doctor said two weeks ago if this 60 mg increased dose didn't work for me then she was going to switch me to Celexa.
1063764 tn?1272821064 If you took a lot of both drugs, Melatonin and fluoxetine. Would/could they do any serious damage? I am on fluoxetine and take melatonin regularly.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
1305597 tn?1275336446 citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
Avatar f tn I recently started Celexa and had to go to a higher dose. I did not get any side-effects any worse than the anxiey I was already feeling. I was a little sleepy in the afternoon. I was glad it did not give me the jitters like some other SSRI's have. Everyone reacts differently, but it was the easiest to get on for me.
Avatar f tn I just started Celexa, 20 mg, I was switched from Fluoxetine 60 mg because I was still having panic attacks really bad. I was wondering, this is just my third day on Celexa which I had a good day today without being anxious at all, but then tonight I had a panic attack, is there anything that works better then Clonazepam to help dealing with panic attacks?? I was just curious since my doctor is so afraid of using Clonazepam at high doses, I only take .
Avatar n tn I just got off my Celexa. I tapered off of it slowly over about two, two 1/2 months. I did have some side effects. A little "crabby" but mostly just dizzy at times or some "zaps" I think the way I tapered off it worked well. I have gotten off of other medications with much worse withdrawals. I think it depends on the medication and how you are getting off of it. Celexa wasn't bad to get off of Paxil was terrible.
Avatar f tn I have been on the 40mg dose, then got changed to 20mg of fluoxetine. Even though it was a change in med and a lesser dose, I felt good. Good enough to go off meds altogether. I'm not saying this will be the case for you, but definitely go see your GP and talk over your options. Have you tried counselling? Meds are great, but they don't deal with the issues which lead to your depression.
Avatar f tn t mean just impatient or annoyed but physical pain, a weird restless sensation in my nervous system and at the same time feel very depressed and fatigue, when this happens I cant tolerate any noise or people. It seems like this happens about once a week or twice.
1001742 tn?1252685847 It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It works by increasing levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain. Increased serotonin levels can lead to an improved mood. I was prescibed this for my anxiety by my family doctor although I'm not sure if I should take this if I will **** dirty at the meth clinic.
Avatar f tn Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.
543959 tn?1301315419 hello, just wondered if anyone has any advice, im currently taking 40mg of fluoxetine but feel this is not quite enough, my doc wont prescribe me 60mg dose but instead has given me 10mg buspirone to take alongside the fluoxetine. has anybody taken this combination of meds and is it helpful?
1066610 tn?1255561474 why do i pull my eyelashes and eyebrows i know it has somehting to do with anxiety and stress but sometimes i catch myself doing it when im not stressed or worried about anything i could be watching a movie with my boyfriend and just start pulling
Avatar f tn I can usually go untill around 2 or 3 before I start feeling jittery and have to take another Klonopin. I started on the Fluoxetine at 40 mg and I just went to the doctor today and she increased it to 60 mg. Does this medication really work for panic attacks and anxiety? I'm so afraid it won't work, and I just don't feel like myself. Sometimes I cry which does relieve the anixety, but is it normal to be so tearful?
Avatar f tn I'm in the same boat. How does this happen. I was going along fine on my Celexa and then you exact same symptoms started. Question is: Do we up the dose of our current med. Do we switch to a different SSRI or do we add a med to our present med. The decisions are hard when you are in the middle of an anxiety episode and you just want it to stop. I added Klonopin to my Celexa and it's helping, but I want a long term solution . Good luck. Keep us posted.
Avatar n tn m on the internet. Im gonna jot those down and take them to my Dr. I have been on celexa before and it worked well. Thanks again for all your help it was greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..
Avatar f tn t. These two meds are very similar. Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. Reportedly it has fewer side effects, but who knows if that's really true? I found Celexa easier to take myself, so it just goes to show. But the core of both drugs is the same. For me, the one drug that really put on the weight was Paxil. For others, it's different.
Avatar n tn Fluoxetine (Prozac) has the slowest elimination of the SSRIs.
Avatar f tn I am wondering why, though, you are starting on Celexa rather than Lexapro. Interesting choice. Lexapro is the newer form of Celexa, and supposedly has fewer side effects than other SSRIs, though whether that's actually turned out to be true or not I don't know. I was on both of them.
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar m tn Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.
Avatar f tn I am 38 years old and 4 and half months pregnant with my first baby. Before getting preg. I was taking 20 mg of fluoxetine once a day. When I first found out I was preg. i stopped. I recently experienced panic attacks and my doctor prescribed the same medication. Is it safe for my unborn child? I am very concerned please advise me!
Avatar m tn Thank you Nurse girl, I will try my best, I wish you happy holidays and a great year to come... Do you think my fluoxetine will kick in in days and I will be motivated again? And is it normal sometimes to increase the dosage? I feel very bad because of the increase!
Avatar m tn Lately, I have been having bradycardia issues, specifically in the evening time. My pulse is usually between 48 and 52 beats per minute... which is a bit low for me. I am taking the medicine for hypertension... but since heart disease runs in my family and fish oil has some pretty good evidence behind it, I thought I would take it 2. Any comments, suggestions?
Avatar m tn i just started on fluoxetine and it depends on when you take it, if your taking it in the morning then switching to the evenings should solve the problem.
