7591449 tn?1395871407 I take off my other clothes but my socks and underwear stay on. I don't want to have anything getting all into my privacy lol. I have very sensitive toenails, so I can't stand blankets or anything rubbing on them at night. I keep my socks on to protect my toenails.
1067423 tn?1267740670 It sounds terrible. When I was getting chemo, I had an eruption of psoriasis and I lost my toenails and they aren't coming back....chemo ended 5 years ago. I hurt my toes all the time; but I know it would be much worse if it was my finger nails. I wish I could offer some help. Maybe someone will come along and know something helpful. Have you spoken to your doc or your chemo team about this? That's a good place to start. There has to be something out there that will help......
Avatar n tn I have found out about psoriatic nails, found in people with psoriasis, and ridges and peeling in your finger or toenails has to do with iron. High iron manifests in skin problems, and psoriasis is common in iron disorders. Google it with typing in peeling toenails or fingernails. Here is a link.
342647 tn?1291107933 I have heard this was true. but as an esthetician it usually doesn;t stop the women from coming for a pedicure.
Avatar n tn he has lost some fingernails, and appears that he will lose some toenails too. He seems to be in no pain, nailbed is not red when nail comes off. looks healthy/pink. My son is also a twin and his sister is starting to show some ridges on her nailbeds that looked just like his when all this started.....any thoughts? 1512967 tn?1290298949 First it was take the infected nails off. Then all got infected and i had to remove all toenails and have acid dropped on them. Thank you for trying to help but this isnt a toenail situation. whatever it may be I don't they will find out the answer until im autopsy.
1674823 tn?1307263620 Unusually curved fingertips and nails Clubbing of the fingertips means the tissue beneath the nails thickens and the fingertips become rounded and bulbous. The fingernails curve over the rounded fingertips. Clubbing is thought to result from increased blood flow to the fingertips. It can run in families and be entirely harmless.
Avatar f tn ve heard that yellow nails can be indicative of health problems. I also have yellow toenails but I went to the dermatologist and she said I had a toenail fungus. I was prescribed terbinafine for my toenails and have been on it for a week. But she didn't really check my finger nails. My nails have been like that for a while though. Also when I trim my fingernails I've noticed that more of the nail bed is exposed as if the nail edge has extended backwards. If that makes sense? Please help!
4683754 tn?1357938574 A few months ago it started getting thicker and the top layer just came off, now it just looks weird and seems to be growing up instead of out. It doesn't hurt but it looks different than the rest of my nails and Idk what is causing this... help please! Thanks.
Avatar f tn These ridges are especially noticable on the bed of my thumbs and also on the toenails of the big toes. Other fingernails/toenails don't seem to have ridges, maybe just a few small ridges on index finger nails.
Avatar f tn My figernails are separating from the nail beds and falling off. When I brought this up to my oncologist, he stated that it was from the Taxotere. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem occur and what they've done for it. Thanks!

Avatar n tn Wow-what a relief to know that I'm not the only freak who picks till I bleed, tear off toenails completely, and am just plain embarressed about my toes. Does anyone know of a support group, or something to that extent to help with this compulsive disorder? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS-I live on the Treasure Coast in Florida. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn The miscarriage happened at home in the toilet. The eyes opened up an the only thing I did not see on the baby was fingernails and toenails but was developed. Could I get pregnant again how many months do y'all think I was?
Avatar m tn Now what? They hurt when you push on them, but I don't remember hitting them hard enough to cause this kind of bruise. I see my hepatologist for the big decision on when to treat and with what. I hope it's not still whether to treat, unless it is because someone else posted that another really good drug is getting FDA approval in August. Should I show them to him or call my regular doctor? Meanwhile, my fingernails are getting "wavy" and one is split down the middle.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a 40 year old heterosexual man. In February 2009, I had a mishap during heterosexual intercourse in South America. The ejaculate spilled on the bed during withdrawal and there is a possibility that unprotected sex occurred toward the end of intercourse. I had a normal absolute/% CD4 of 1063/45% at 5 wks followed by negative ELISA tests at 6 wks/77 days/80 days. The first 2 ELISA's were with a home kit and the 2nd one was ordered by an ID physician.
Avatar m tn I can understand your concern for the pitting and yellowish discoloration of the nails. Two possibilities which can cause both pitting and yellowish discoloration of the nails are: 1) Fungal infection of the nails. It is also called onychomycosis and the commonest presenting feature is thickening and discoloration of the nailbed which may be white, black, yellow or green.
Avatar f tn Hello Dr Jankicevic, I'm a 29 year old female and my problems are my big toes, specifically my toenails. Three or four years ago I noticed that my left toenail stopped growing. That was followed by a dull pain in the nail root area accompanied by slight swelling and redness of the toe. After a couple of weeks the swelling, redness and pain went away by themselves, however the nail seemed to have stopped growing for about 5 months or so.
Avatar f tn If you are wearing several layers of varnish and it starts lifting instead of just flaking off it would be a prime site for an infection, most peoples varnish just flakes off and even if it did start lifting most people would just strip off the whole varnish. So the chances are pretty rare. The same cannot be said for any artificial nail systems tho, lifting falsies are prone to fungal infections. Could you paint over an infection...yes but once again it would be pretty negligent.
Avatar n tn My fiance has lost his fingernails and toenails. It started about 11/2 yrs. ago, his nails became white and then started to lift off his nail bed. Now that all of his nails have completely fallen off, the nail bed is puffy, dry and when the nail trys to grow back, it splits off the bed because of the puffiness. He's gone and recieved a biopsy, it came back NOT a fungus. He has also recieved an STD test and that came back negitive as well.
Avatar f tn My mother completely lost her toenails and her fingernails thinned out considerably during chemotherapy. It took a full year for them to return to the way they originally were. Maybe, the time frame for recovery is just longer for some people.
