femara dosage

My doctor told me to take all 10 pills on day 3 of my cycle. Has anyone else taken this drug in that dosage? From what I have been reading, others don't take them all at once.

I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly.So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.

My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

I also took Femara 5 mg/day on days 3-7. I have read that doctors usually start you on 2.5 or 5 mg and then increase it by increments of 2.5 if the lower dosage doesn't work. I have taken both Clomid and Femara and have to say that I liked the Femara much better. Not as many side effects (except headaches) and I just overall felt better. It definitely helped me produce a nice follie and definitely O every time.

Cd12 went for a an ultrasound, he said I didnt respond to the femara and wanted to up dosage to 7.5. My lining was measuring 6mm. I had started spotting brown that morning. He told me to start the femara that day and he put down that, that day would be cd5? Im still spotting. so my questions are why would he consider my original cd12 as cd5 and start a new round of femara without a period? If that makes sense. Also why would I be spotting brown? Wouldn't that make my lining even more thin?

5 daily dosage or a reduced dosage? I know it will someday stop working, I have heard typically 9 months up to two years. If I do get the window of opportunity, are there suggestions for preventing recurrance or extending the Femara's usefullness.? Are there specific articles I could read on this.

t thin your uterine lining like clomid does giving an embryo a good chance to be able to implant. Typically Femara has less side effects and is tolerated better. As far as dosage..you'll need to talk to your doc about that. Chances are they will start you on the lowest dose just like clomid and go from there. Most docs want you to take clomis CD 3 - 7, but some say 5 - 9.

) and that she is recommending me do lupron or femara for supression for 3-6 months.. we have been ttc for a year so before surg we thought we wouldn't do any of those meds since it woudl simply delay concieving longer.. I have pretty much decided against lupron, but may be open to doing femara for three months constantly.. anyone done this? i know it can be used for ovulation - like clomid.. but looks like new studies are showing if you use it consistently it is helping...

yep..sounds famliar. I was crampy on Femara but I will not be using Femara again since it made me cystic..i just finished a cycle of Menopur injections and had no side effects whatsoever. I am on the 2ww.

Not to sound discouraging but clomid never worked for me. I took the highest dosage allowed by the FDA and still did not ovulate. Now, for a positive note, I am taking Femara. A lot of people don't like this idea; however, it has been proven that the femara is out of your system long before you conceive and there is no risk of birth defects. Keep Femara in mind if Clomid doesn't work for you.

I tried clomid 3 mo no ovulation now im using femara past 2 cycles last month my progestrone level was 21 on day 21 this month was 38 on day 23 just waiting to see if af comes sat

Hi Ladies. My chart looks really weird this month. I'm only on CD 9 and took my last dosage of Femara on Thursday night. My BBT has been increasing and I'm a little worried that I have O'd already. So far I havent done any OPK's because in my experience it is just far too early for me to be Oing. Anyone else had any difficulties with temping while on Femara? Can it raise one's BBT? Any advice would be appreciated.

Femara works on a different hormone then Clomid and is not suppose to have any of those side effects. I did 4 cycles of Clomid on the lowest dosage and 1 of Femara on the lowest dosage. The Clomid did dry up what little CM I did have and made me a little moody. I didn't notice any of that with the Femara.

Also doing your temperature curve help to know if clomid is efficient. I was on 100 mg if I remember correctly. With femara dosage is lower.

I am getting ready to start my 4th and last round of clomid prior to being referred to a specialist and my doctor won't increase the dosage from 50 mg to 100 mg. On the 1st round of clomid, I ovulated, on the 2nd round of clomid, I ovulated 8 days late, and on the 3rd round of clomid, I didn't ovulate at all and had no side effects. I have read that the dosage should be increased if you do not ovulate.

I"m sorry to hear that..With just letrazole we havne't gotten preg, but we used only that and only 2.5mg once a day my first two cycles of IUI and were still learning things..like the fact that my follicles don't always/usually don't rupture: ( so the first cycle i had only one follie the second i had two, nothing ruptured the first and one did the second.. we have male factor and LOTS of other issues too..

Hi, I am also on the dosage of Letrozole from D3 to D7. I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?

Hello! i've also been on femara for three cycles - this one is with follistim injectable as well.. but its pretty typical to develop only one mature follie wihle on femara (while clomid can cause more follies it can thin the lining and dry up your cervical mucus) I had one follie at 22mm the first cycle and two last cycle 19 and 21 (i'm only working with one functional ovary though) but I agree with candie increasing the dose would be a great start....

Make sure your doctor is monitoring (with ultrasound) each cycle on clomid, it can cause cysts to develop rapidly In women with PCOS. I took 5 rounds of clomid up to 150mg and never ovulated. I am on follistim injections now and have ovulated each cycle. You should ask your doctor about changing you to femara it's a pill like clomid with less side effects and it singles out an egg to mature unlike the clomid that tries to mature everything (hints cysts).

250mg is a VERY strong dosage. Clomid did not work for me and after 4 months (50 mg, then 100mg and 2 months at 150mg). This past month I was put on letrozole (femara) and it worked. On day 13 I had an egg measuring 17.5mm.

You can ask your doctor about Femara, which works similarly. Some women respond better to Femara than Clomid.
