Hi, I am also on the dosage of Letrozole from D3 to D7. I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my MC on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body? Is there anyone else who has similar issues ?

I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!

My doctor told me to take all 10 pills on day 3 of my cycle. Has anyone else taken this drug in that dosage? From what I have been reading, others don't take them all at once.

I am getting ready to start my 4th and last round of clomid prior to being referred to a specialist and my doctor won't increase the dosage from 50 mg to 100 mg. On the 1st round of clomid, I ovulated, on the 2nd round of clomid, I ovulated 8 days late, and on the 3rd round of clomid, I didn't ovulate at all and had no side effects. I have read that the dosage should be increased if you do not ovulate.

Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?

Endometriosis can be worsened(or improved) by hormonal manipulation. I would start with a medication such as Clomid or Femara. Good luck!

I am just wondering if anyone has taken Femara to try and get pregnant. I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Make sure your doctor is monitoring (with ultrasound) each cycle on clomid, it can cause cysts to develop rapidly In women with PCOS. I took 5 rounds of clomid up to 150mg and never ovulated. I am on follistim injections now and have ovulated each cycle. You should ask your doctor about changing you to femara it's a pill like clomid with less side effects and it singles out an egg to mature unlike the clomid that tries to mature everything (hints cysts).

I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly.So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.

The RE will probably want to run some tests to figure out the cause of your infertility. Then you can discuss the treatment options you have. Good luck!

Unexplained infertility for 1.5 years. I am not sure what could be the reason for my infertility , it might be endo but they didn't do a laparo for me yet. If anyone can tell me what other options do I have if Clomid failed?? So what worked for you ?

Femara works on a different hormone then Clomid and is not suppose to have any of those side effects. I did 4 cycles of Clomid on the lowest dosage and 1 of Femara on the lowest dosage. The Clomid did dry up what little CM I did have and made me a little moody. I didn't notice any of that with the Femara.

Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.

Hello! lots of people on here have gotten preggo with IUI's! We did two cycles of femara + IUI and then the third and final one (right before we moved to IVF) we used follistim injectables +femara and got preg! unfortuantely miscarried at 9.5 weeks : ( but it did work! which is huge! we were told we had pretyt much no chance without IVF! so we were so excited!

IIf you do have unexplained infertility it doesn't mean that you can't have a baby. I have unexplained infertility, all tests point to healthy eggs, ovaries, and I ovulate. Are you seeing an RE? I went to a gyno for 11 months and he had me on Femara. I went to an RE and was pregnant within 3 months, he increased my doesage and ordered a trigger with timed BD. Have you had an HSG?

Is femara really so much worse than clomid? I am doing my infertility work up now and will be going on clomid cycle after next and I have heard so many awful things about the fact that clomid gives you all of these side effects and does famara do the same thing without the side effects?

Yes you can. I'm 23yr dx when I was 17 and am now finally pregnant with our first. Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction.

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? I am getting ready to turn 37 years of age and I have been trying to conceive for the past few years - went through testing (no issues on my end nor husbands, diagnosed with unexplained infertility). I've tried clomid, femara, gonal-f and menopur over the past year. My most recent IUI cycle was cancelled due to a poor response and estradiol levels dropped on menopur (150 iu); however, the next protocol is recommended to be menopur again - but at a higher dose of 300 iu (150 2x per day).

My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?
