Femara dosage for gyno

Common Questions and Answers about Femara dosage for gyno

femara

Avatar f tn I was on Femara before my first pregnancy. I took one pill each day for 10 days, just like clomid dosing. Femara is a breast cancer drug and not sure how the side effects would turn out when taking 10 pills in one day. Sounds very unusual.
Avatar f tn I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly. So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.
652899 tn?1284047173 I am due for my first iui in sep ..am on letrozole ( femara) days 5-9..
Avatar f tn My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?
1106081 tn?1289166025 After which we have been on 6 cycles of clomid, but no pregnancy. My gyno has given me appnt for next monday, for further discussing the options for me..... I m not sure what to expect in that meeting.... can anyone please suggest what options are best for me? I have heard abt injectables and iui but donno much abt them.. I m kinda depressed, since its been more than 1 year since we are actively TTC........ Any kind of advice would make a lot of difference!!!! Thanks in advance Joy.
Avatar f tn I am currently 3dpo and used femara for the first time this cycle. I did 5mg/day (two 2.5mg caps) on days 3-7. I too have wondered why there seem to be so many different days and doses, but haven't been able to find much about it. I certainly would like to know if another method - like taking the whole 5 day dose on one day - works better than others, but haven't had a chance to ask my doc yet.
Avatar n tn It was only confirmed with a lapascopy. The markers continued to stay around 80 for the six months I was taking chemo. I went off all meds in Jan. Since mid Feb to mid Apr my markers went to 180. I started Femara in early Apr. After one month, marker went down to 170. About the same time I started Femara, I have constant sever pain in my right rib area and now pain in my lower right skull. Bone scan was negative.
1351105 tn?1277142905 Well went to the apptmt. Gyno went through my list of symptoms. He doesn't think that it's PCOS. He just thinks that the reason why I'm having so many of those symptoms is from lack of ovulation since the last time I ovulated was last year in March. He also thinks that I'm in perimenopause since I can't have my AF but once a year with the help of provera. It's too late for me to be able to have one on my own. He prescribed me another ovulation stimulator Femara.
Avatar f tn Hello ladies! We have moved away from clomid and trying Femara this month. Today is CD 1 and I will start taking Femara CD 5 - 9. We are planning an IUI with trigger shot if the follicles look good. We've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years and I am pretty frustrated. We went from my gyno to a big fertilty clinic here in Austin. That wasn't working and they were pushing for injections (we cannot afford) so we opted for a second opinion.
Avatar f tn I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
1108951 tn?1258618690 t thin your uterine lining like clomid does giving an embryo a good chance to be able to implant. Typically Femara has less side effects and is tolerated better. As far as dosage..you'll need to talk to your doc about that. Chances are they will start you on the lowest dose just like clomid and go from there. Most docs want you to take clomis CD 3 - 7, but some say 5 - 9.
5143114 tn?1364237535 Then this past month (March) she uped me to 7mg of femara (and still taking Metformin, too). My 21 day Progestrone levels for December was 2.87, January was 1.76, Feb was 7.87, and this last one was 9.82 She also did tested 4 other harmones on day 3 of my cycle, everything was normal, except the TSH which was .282, which she said was a little underactive. So now I have been referred to an Reproductive Endocrinologist. So, what is there to be expected?
374593 tn?1257879950 ) and that she is recommending me do lupron or femara for supression for 3-6 months.. we have been ttc for a year so before surg we thought we wouldn't do any of those meds since it woudl simply delay concieving longer.. I have pretty much decided against lupron, but may be open to doing femara for three months constantly.. anyone done this? i know it can be used for ovulation - like clomid.. but looks like new studies are showing if you use it consistently it is helping...
337111 tn?1266946623 We have a 5 year old daughter who we conceived the first month without birth control and have been trying for #2 for three years this month.
1404364 tn?1289431561 Gosh, I hope that this works for you! Femara has a pretty high rate of playing a positive role in getting pregnant and produces greater results than clomid. I had cramping like my period was coming on when I was early pregnancy. It's too early to test. I did use the early testing strips but didn't get a positive until 4 days out from my period. Do you temperature check? I found that extremely effective in understanding when I ovulated and if I was pregnant or not.
320424 tn?1205500555 d back of the higher dosage of Clomid. Just my 2 cents worth. U have to do what feels right for you. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion.
341207 tn?1224245896 af came yeasterday exactly on due date this was my 11th mnth of ttc ( natural no meds) i am starting to think something is wrong i did see a gyno a month ago who did a brief internal u/s and said everything looked good so there shouldnt be any problem with me conceiving so why cant i? and all i have done is had 2 day 23 prog.
418703 tn?1308825220 Not to sound discouraging but clomid never worked for me. I took the highest dosage allowed by the FDA and still did not ovulate. Now, for a positive note, I am taking Femara. A lot of people don't like this idea; however, it has been proven that the femara is out of your system long before you conceive and there is no risk of birth defects. Keep Femara in mind if Clomid doesn't work for you.
Avatar f tn The doctor can use ultrasound and blood work to check for this. I used clomid and got prego with twins first try, I am now using Femara to try to for another. Your doctor can use Provera to help you start your cycle as well. I would make an app. asap. You have been trying for a year now so they should help you. You might not need in vitro at the point. There are other opptions that do not cost as much. Don't give up! It can still happen for you.
