Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen gland

Avatar n tn Thanks for the advice. I'll get my thyroid level retested and see if the estrogen is affecting my levels. I do have another concern, though. Since starting the Alesse, I have had several people tell me that people with thyroid problems shouldn't take birth control because of the hormone interaction. Is it a bad idea to take estrogen when I don't have a thyroid gland?
Avatar f tn Keep in mind I am not a medical professional. Your adrenal gland produces estrogen and I believe if you have a lot of body fat that also contributes to the problem. I may be wrong about the body fat but I don't think so. Maybe a medical professional will chime in here.
Avatar f tn I would have your estrogen checked. Your pituitary gland could be slowing your FSH levels. That is what I'm going through. I'm in perimenopause. Estrogen of 16 and FSH is .3. Not 3 but .3.
Avatar f tn The hypothalamus and pituitary gland can sense an underactive thyroid gland and try to kick things back to normal by increasing levels of the hormones TRH (thyroid-releasing hormone) and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) in your body. TRH prompts the pituitary to release TSH, which in turn stimulates the thyroid to do its job. However, TRH also prompts the pituitary to release more of the hormone prolactin.
Avatar f tn Were you diagnosed with hypothyroidism, when you were diagnosed with Hashimoto's and are you on any kind of replacement thyroid medication? If so, what medication, dosage and for how long have you been on it? Often, being on a thyroid hormone will cause weight loss, since thyroid controls metabolism.
698356 tn?1240150727 The pituitary is a small, pea-sized gland located at the base of the brain that functions as "The Master Gland." From its lofty position above the rest of the body it sends signals to the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, ovaries and testes, directing them to produce thyroid hormone, cortisol, estrogen, testosterone, and many more. These hormones have dramatic effects on metabolism, blood pressure, sexuality, reproduction, and other vital body functions.
Avatar f tn Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid and cervical dysplasia. Your doctor may consider tests like serum HCG, blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone.
Avatar n tn You really need bloodwork to confirm the diagnosis, you could have a problem with your adrenal gland that would cause the same symptoms, the only way to know is bloodwork because you already had a normal ultrasound. I would be concerned that PCOS may not be you problem yes you have many symptoms of PCOS but adrenal hyperplasia mimics PCOS, and it could explain the seizures. Seizure are NOT common with PCOS and if your doctor is ok with that diagnosis without bloodwork get a second opinion!!
Avatar f tn I think a lot of that has to do with the hormonal imbalance from the adrenal gland. When one gland is stressed, it puts pressure on all of them to compensate.
Avatar n tn For the most part, it has an inverse relationship to estrogen level. Since you do not have ovaries and do not take estrogen, it makes sense that your FSH is high. I also do not have ovaries but I take estrogen. When my estrogen level gets rather high, my FSH is low (in the range of a menstruating woman). When my estrogen is on the lower side, my FSH rises.
Avatar m tn I was told I have leion on my right adreal gland that is2.6 x 2.2 cm with few cystic foci whatever that means. I was also told. i was alo told i cerebral aneurysm and chiari malformatìon. i was alo told i was also told i may have parkinsons disease. I guess my question is.what kind of symptoms does adrènal gland cysts cause. No one seem too concened with it i only found out because i read my medical records.
Avatar f tn Maybe you should get your female hormone levels checked (specific days of your cycle the gyn doctor can tell you when), like FSH. Also, estrogen and progesterone levels. I'm wondering if you are getting a number of estrogen dips causing hot flashes? If any endocrine numbers related to your pituitary aren't normal, ask for a dynamic MRI with and without contrast of your pituitary gland. Also, does your heart rate go fast usually but slow down toward your mense?
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. Well, I had this same thing prior to having kids at all. It was diagnosed as something called prolactinemia. It was a hormonal situation/imbalance. I produced too much estrogen. They looked at my pituitary gland to make sure I didn't have a small noncancerous tumor which is a common cause of prolactinemia which I didn't have. I had a bit of a slow thyroid and this excess estrogen production.
Avatar f tn I had a friend who was on clomid and estrogen (clomid helped her get pregnant, but thinned her lining, so the estrogen helped counter that), then she went on progesterone as soon as she got a bfp. and found this on healthywomen . org "During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones that cause a new egg to be released from its follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces estrogen, which causes the lining of the uterus to thicken.
Avatar n tn have in the body and their relation to thyroid hormone and thyroid gland performance, as well as the adrenal gland. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/609327'>progesterone cream and Hashimotos thyroiditis</a>.
Avatar f tn This is a non-cancerous condition which results when portions of the breast gland grow abnormally large because of excessive sensitivity to estrogen (the female hormone) stimulation. Cancer usually appears as solid masses or calcified nodules, not cysts, which are fluid-containing lumps. Fibrocystic disease is not "normal", but it doesn't usually cause problems other than intermittent discomfort and pain particularly as menstruation approaches.
Avatar m tn Poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Your ovum basically swell inside your ovaries. This happens normally with ovulation, but one egg at a time on either side. PCOS happens with multiple eggs at once, and they aren't released. It has a lot to do with estrogen production in your ovaries and hormones in your thyroid gland too. PCOS has symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, irritability, hairiness... Lol. It can be difficult to conceive sometimes, and many women with PCOS have irregular periods.
Avatar f tn Did a doctor prescribe the antibiotics? This kind of breast leakage is often hormonal. Usually something going on with the pituitary gland. And sometimes the thyroid. i had it when my hormones weren't balanced well and I was producing too much estrogen. Is your period on time? (and have you ruled out pregnancy).
Avatar m tn Please consult a doctor to rule out diabetes, thyroid problem, adrenal gland problems, hypertrophy of prostrate gland (if you are male 65 years old). But since you are on estrogen replacement, I think you are probably female 65 years. In which case also get FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone levels checked. It can also be UTI, but less likely if you do not get any symptoms during the day. Other causes include AIDS, cancer, infections in the body and side effect of certain drugs.
Avatar f tn I have an appointment finally with an endocrinologist coming up soon. My question is this, the adrenal gland and its production of hormones, such as estrogen, testosterone progesterone, DHEA. Those of the only ones I know of I’m sure there are more. As a woman gets older I love that hormone production is greatly reduced.

Avatar f tn Mine resolved on its own without treatment but I can not take estrogen birth control pills as I already have a high level of estrogen naturally (just as my husband. ha ha).
Avatar n tn Hello, Causes of post menopausal bleeding could be ovarian cyst fibroids and endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, thyroid hormone imbalance and diabetes. Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan or MRI brain may also be recommended in certain individuals.
Avatar f tn They checked me via MRI for a small tumor (that is not a threat of cancer) in my prolactin gland. I did not have one. However, I did produce too much estrogen. My hormones righted themselves and this stopped for me. I'd ask your doctor about it and they will probably do blood work. But would not fear pregnancy just because of this.
