Avatar f tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that you could try Sprionolactone for the acne. Estrogen might also help. For more severe acne, Accutane can be very effective. There are lots and lots of topical products on the market too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
Avatar f tn Estrogen-injected cattle, birth control pill residue in our rivers and lakes, rare side effects of steroid treatments, pseudo-estrogen from soy products, pseudo-estrogen from BPA in baby bottles and cans - nothing will ever be proven but there sure is a hormonal mess out there...
Avatar f tn I have switched shampoos, conditioners, laundry detergents, ance washes. I have tried 2 different oral natural herbs for acne. My old dermatologist put me on Minoclycline. Worked great! (Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the drug was discoloration of the teeth and mine started turning grey, so I had to stop taking it.) I have done accupuncture and the Dream Skin machine at my accupuncturists office. I have tried getting a little sun on it (in the privacy of my own home, of course).
Avatar f tn Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed? I am taking natural supplements for my adrenals and might want to try HC but I have heard not so good stories about it. Are there natural adrenal meds or how should I go abouts treating it? I finally feel abit better but I don't want to move cause moving equals hot flashes/sweating.
Avatar f tn think this one is a boy too!! Acne again, 11w3d. It has a lot to do with more estrogen or testosterone in your body. Are they pimples that you can pop, it hard zit type??
Avatar f tn Hi, my daughter was put on birth control to regulate her periods and for her acne, which was really bad. She was 17 at the time. She was put on the regular pill that everyone starts off with I believe, ortho something or other. Worked great on regulating her periods AND her acne. The nausea started shortly thereafter and the vomiting....................
Avatar f tn I had other side effects from birth control so I decided to get off of it and the acne returned. I tried everything OTC for acne. I even tried proactive and it did nothing for me. So then I realized it was related to my hormones. I found a natural treatment. It's an herb called vitex fruit. It can take a couple of your cycles to take affect. It works by balancing your hormones naturally with your pituitary gland. It had natural estrogen properties.
Avatar f tn I am taking estrogen pellets. That's a typo in my original message.
Avatar m tn What can be done for the extreme acne caused by all these hormonal issues. My daughter never really had acne in her life and recently tested with higher then normal testosterone which the doctor has attributed to this severe acne condition. We purchased proactive but she has a reaction to that. I just purchased Mario something or other and it doesn't seem to be working. any ideas?
Avatar f tn I was on the medication for 6 months (acne had cleared and cycles were regular and lost about 15lbs), when the medication stopped working. I started missing my periods again and the weight started creeping up. I went back to the doctor and they upped my metformin to 1000mg twice a day. This did the trick for 9 months, but I started having severe stomach issues. I didn't feel like eating and anything I did consume went right thru me within minutes of eating it.
Avatar m tn I trust her judgement with placing me on both of those medications, but what worries me is that it may be too much of a hormone change for my body. I know that birth control pills increase estrogen levels in the body and that spironolactone is an antiandrogen drug, and naturally the body will replace androgens with estrogen. I'm scared that my already slow metabolism will slow down further with these medications and that I'll gain weight that I worked so hard to lose.
1070570 tn?1283436213 You are very young to be having these issues. I don't recommend DHEA for women. I would try some alternative therapies. Give acupuncture or a homeopath a try if you can afford it. Some insurances will pay for acupuncture.
Avatar n tn I am 24 and have had acne for years. I have tried everything, I mean EVERYTHING (including accutane twice!) and although at certain times it is more under control, it has never completely gone away. It was getting much better about a year ago but then I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have been taking levothyroxin for a couple of months now and the acne is back in full force. I am underweight for my age and height but have lots of problems with facial hair (way to much for a girl!
Avatar f tn i'm 18 weeks pregnant and i'd say for the past month month and a half i've had acne like a teenage girl going through puberty all over again. i never had problems with this when i was younger, why now? and any suggestions on how to help it?
Avatar f tn I have been wondering that since acne is a hormonal problem, would it be a good idea for me to take him to an endocrinologist or would this just cause another issue? The thought of messing with his hormones scares me a little. How about a homeopathic doctor? I just need a little direction. Please help. This discussion is related to Precocious puberty?.
Avatar f tn As I've mentioned in my previous post, I have the strong feeling that I have a hormone imbalance. For 3 years, I've been overemotional/irritable/nervous, have had light/skipped periods, persistent acne,(I'm 20 and I don't feel like this should be happening), and hot flashes. These problems have gotten progressively worse over the years. The problem is though, that I feel like I have the symptoms of both estrogen dominance and estrogen deficiency.
Avatar f tn I use a rx spray estradiol. But, I thought my probs were due do estrogen dominance. (depression, facial hair growth, acne, high cholesterol, high insulin, weight gain upper body, too much testosterone, breast cysts and probably ovarian cysts). I lost 100 pounds from a gastric bypass but am still about 50 pounds overweight. Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery.
Avatar f tn After saliva test i was told i have low adrelas and cortisol, DHNA and progesteron level in comparison to estrogen. I was taking natural progesteron for 1 month but only 50 mg bc i was too drowsy with full pull. But I fill more hot flashes and adrenal fatigue is worse. I think one of the reason is adrenal cream i used with GABA but probably also progesterone. Just in case I stopped using it. How long it should be used? Is there is something else to help with estrogen dominance?
393685 tn?1425812522 She put me back on the pill for the menstrual issues - acne, bloating, blood clotting. I asked if it was safe for a 37-year-old to be on the pill. She said I could take it until I had menopause. She also said it won't interfere with thyroid meds if I take the pill at night and my thyroid meds in the morning. I can't tell yet if the pill is working, but I'll let the forum know in a month or two.
Avatar m tn As I understand it, when one injects testosterone (lets say Testosterone Enanthate) the body converts (with an enzyme) the excess testosterone into estrogen. The pituitary gland also senses this huge influx of testosterone and sends a message to the testes in the form of Oestrogen to shut down the bodies natural production of testosterone.
Avatar f tn Menopause is often thought of as a time of declining estrogen, but it is actually common for women to experience surges of abnormally high estrogen levels in the menopausal years, as well as earlier in life. This misconception has led many millions of women to engage in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to restore lost” estrogen, hoping to address the above list of conditions. This additional estrogen may only worsen the problem and even set the stage for the development of deadly disease.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but i get dark blotches on my face after an acne pimple has healed. I use neutrogena post-acne mark peel, which makes a visible difference after one use. The sun usually helps my spots, but I'm not sure if you're experiencing the same thing, so keep on using your sun block every day. Hope the doc answers your question soon.
Avatar f tn The herb Vitex (also know as Chase berry) is the treatment of choice in herbal medicine for both acne and irregular periods. Vitex will raise progestrone levels and balance estrogen. The other thing to try is beta sitosterol. It is the active agent in the herb saw palmento. It is a very good and extremely safe DHT blocker. DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is the cause of your facial hair growth and plays a huge part in the acne. It's likely you have a systemic yeast overgrowth as well.
Avatar n tn ) He thought it might be a thyroid problem of some sort so he ordered tests for estrogen, testosterone, progestin, TSH, FSH and LH...At least I am pretty sure that is the comprehensive list. I went in for the blood work that day -- roughly day 17 of my cycle. He called me a week later and told me that my TSH, testosterone, and progestin levels looked normal but he was concerned because my estrogen level was very low -- below 15. He also said that my FSH and LH levels were very low -- 1.
Avatar f tn Hi, would like to know whether anyone is facing acne problem after taking the controlling drug? please share....thanks all.
