Avatar f tn Last two nights I had major night sweats. Made the mistake of going online..what could it be??!! I'm reading anything from perimenopause (wouldn't that just be my luck), to premature ovarian failure, to symptom of pcos (which I've been diagnosed with) to pregnancy. Help! I'm only 29.
Avatar m tn t drink ANY coffee BUT I did drink Iced Tea (ALL of the time) and she suggested that I stop as the Caffeine would cause the Night Sweats and OTHER symptoms. SOOO I quit ALL caffeine and within a week and a half to two weeks ALL symptoms had ceased!!! IF you can handle NO Caffeine then you MIGHT be able to help your symptoms a GREAT deal!!! I wish you the VERY best and PLEASE let me know if it helps!!........Sherry PS I KNOW how difficult it is to give up the caffeine.
Avatar f tn When I started, I was also taking bioidentical progesterone, estrogen mix and DHEA to control hot flashes and night sweats, which it was doing very well. Once levothyroxine came in, the flashes and night sweats came back with a vengeance and I had trouble sleeping.
Avatar f tn My first month on treatment was hot flashes one minute and chills the next but then the hot flashes and night sweats disappeared. So no night sweats for me while on TX and I am hoping they don't return when TX ends but time will tell.
Avatar m tn Now she has these terrible sweats that wake her up in the middle of the night and now she is getting them every day. She went to her doctor and he gave estrogen treatments, but they really didn't help. She is taking up to three showers a day. What could be causing these sweats and how can she get them to stop. I feel really bad for her and she is starting to drive me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn three months ago I had Pnemonia and even with using bi -est, I am having hot flashes and night sweats which has never happened to me on a constant basis. My husband thinks the pnemunia/fever rearranged my hormones and it will take awhile for them to settle down. I am 57 and was pretty stable on the bi-est. has this ever happened to anyone else?? Thx!
Avatar n tn Although both men and women suffered from their most intense and most frequent symptoms from the ages of 41 to 55, this report focused on aged subjects in order to isolate the effects of night sweats themselves from the effects of menopause and its associated symptoms. Night sweats during menopause are usually caused by estrogen deficiency, but because both older men and postmenopausal women experience night flashes, in this older group that is less likely to be the case.
Avatar f tn So I decided to change my life and quit doing things that I know are poison to my liver and start taking natural meds that are good for my liver and I also quit the HRT and all of a sudden the night sweats were reduced dramatically and even stopped. I started tx Dec. 27 and I do notice that I now have the night sweats sometimes but not nearly as bad as they were.
Avatar f tn I had hot flashes and night sweats for a good 10-12 yrs after my hysterectomy. I finally got my doctor to admit that they no longer had anything to do with menopause, but he wasn't willing to try to find out what was causing them. When I was 58, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but he refused to test for Hashimoto's. I didn't get that diagnosis until a couple years later by a different doctor.
Avatar f tn I would have your hormone levels checked. It sounds like you might be low in estrogen and I think having a baby can cause hormones to fluctuate. The dry scalp fits with low estrogen and so do the night sweats, but I don't really know about the swollen lymph node. A lot of women suffer through these kind of symptoms but if you don't have to why do it? I'm on treatment for both estrogen and progesterone (I'm perimenopausal) and it helps tremendously.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have similar symptoms but have not gone to be checked because I have just felt that it was menopause. The night sweats are the worse and keep me up most of the night. I have found it feels better if I keep the bedroom on the cool side though it does not get rid of them. I went to the pharmacy to see what they had available for menopausal women and they had this package that has both am and pm pills.
Avatar f tn The wrinkles sound more like dehydration from the night sweats. Talk to your doctor and get some blood drawn and see what is going on with your hormone levels, don't let him or her fob you off with "it's normal." Be sure you are taking all your vitamins, as many as when you were pregnant or more, including iron especially. And get over to your doc! Good luck.
Avatar n tn I took Premarin for four months last year, and while it did help with the flashes and night sweats, it did little to help with my anxiety, stress and mood swings. If anything, it seemed to make things worse. I’ve never taken Effexor, but I have seen that it has been prescribed for menopause symptoms. I had a look at the listed side-effects and at what people are saying about it at askapatient.
Avatar f tn I take it for panic attacks. I heard low estrogen levels can cause migraines, anxiety and night sweats. Do they do check this in a regular blood test? I'm not sure I have ever had this checked out. I had everything else checked...I am just so fed up with this I don't nkow what to do anymore. What medications has anyone been on to help them with this?
Avatar f tn I had my hystercomy 12/2006....I have had hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings almost every night before and after my hystercomy. My mother-in-law told me that I did not have a total hystercomy if I am still having night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, and etc..... my question is.....Am I going crazy or is it normal to have those systoms?
Avatar n tn Estrogen remains the most effective treatment for relief of troublesome menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. It can also ease vaginal symptoms of menopause, such as dryness, itching, burning and discomfort with intercourse. Long-term hormone therapy for the prevention of postmenopausal conditions is no longer routinely recommended. women with breast cancer and heart problems should not be taking this therapy.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with a hormone imbalance, estrogen dominance, and have the same night sweats during ovulation and also just before my period, amongst other symptoms such as extreme tiredness, bloating, water retention, sensitivity - the list goes on! I am not producing enough progesterone to balance the estrogen increase in the cycle during ovulation.
Avatar n tn Some post-menopausal women still get hot flashes and night sweats; this can go on for weeks/months/ and less commonly, for years. I personally have never heard of anyone this has happened to, but this is what my doctor has told me. I do not think it is common that it goes on for years--I think more like weeks or months. I was upset when I heard this and sure hope mine go away at or near the 12-month of no period point! Today I had a MAJOR hot flash at the baseball game.
1609228 tn?1316005141 I called for my results and he told me over the phone I was perimenopausal with boderline low estrogen and advised me to see a private Gyno. Previously I had had some night sweats and mood swings after I had my Merina coil removed but not bad or often got worse after my pregnancy. I am eally confused as I am still having period every month they only last a couple of days but I ovulate etc, but clearly the night sweats, mood swing etc arnt right.
Avatar n tn The main menopause sign that most women will experience during pre-menopause is hot flashes and night sweats With night sweats you can wake up in the middle of the night soaking wet and will have to get up and change clothing to be comfortable. The flashes do not last very long but are very annoying to say the least. Hot flashes can occur during the day as well, which can be embarrassing if you are out shopping. These episodes can last for just a few seconds up to five minutes.
Avatar n tn So I am only just 21 and for a few years now I get severe night sweats to the point where I soak the sheets, sometimes and I feel like I just got out the shower I'm so wet from sweat, I don't have any other symptoms other than that, I have been told by my doctor to stop taking my pill as if it is the menepous then my pill will be what is making me still have a period every month, I'm so worried it is but I just don't know anything else that causes night sweats.
Avatar n tn The first thing to be ruled out is a hormonal imbalance due to menopause and hence please visit your gynecologist to get FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone assessed. The second possibility is a thyroid disorder. Anemia, diabetes, overwork, stress and fatigue could be the other causes. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please consult your PCP. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
594189 tn?1386916607 She also said that my night sweats are because I am not getting enough estrogen. But that it will regulate once I lose the weight. Also she said that my lutheal phase defect is caused from hormone issue. So is the full breast and light AF.
7686438 tn?1393681527 The only thing that can help with the horrible night sweats and terrible dreams of menopause is to replace the very hormone that is lacking for which reason you are having the symptoms. Estrogen patches of the bio-identical hormone Vivelle dots can address this. After trying everything else under the sun, this is the only thing that relieves these symptoms. They usually make you take bio-identical progesterone along with it (Progesterone in oil 100 mg.
Avatar f tn I take 3 in the morning and 3 at night. Also, I recently saw my GP and am scheduled to have some thyroid testing done and some general blood work-up. She also recommended testing my vitamin D level. As I said earlier, I am still having my period and want to make sure that something else is going on with mysself, besides the menopause! Keep you posted on the results. Good luck to all. This "mental pause" thing really does stink!!!!!
Avatar m tn Keep in mind that antidepressants frequently cause night sweats. I get them from Lexapro and Celexa, for example. So medication can cause the same symptoms as anxiety. One thing you might try is dividing the Zoloft dose in two -- sometimes that levels the side effects and keeps a steady amount in your bloodstream.
