Avatar f tn First, it began with pelvic pain and lead to menstrual irregularity (my menstruation would not stop for 5 months). I was put on BCP - Ortho-Tri - and it stopped my 24/7 menstruation more or less, but not the pelvic pain. Plus, BCP makes my moods highly irregular and my hair to fall out in chunks. I got off BCP after 3 months of crazy side effects and my hair loss/mood swings/bloat went away. But my menstruation got crazy again. I was then put on Synthroid (0.25 at first, then up to 0.
Avatar f tn Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid and cervical dysplasia. Your doctor may consider tests like serum HCG, blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone.
Avatar f tn Since this itch comes before your periods only, this could be related to lowering of estrogen and higher progesterone. Please consult a gynecologist and try and assess this. It can also be due to a disturbance in normal vaginal bacteria just before periods. Lactobacillus preparations or estrogen creams may help. However, since vagina is a sensitive area, please do not try these without medical prescription. Take care!
Avatar m tn The reason why puberty age is much lower nowadays is possibly due to the estrogen rich diet that comes from dairy and estrogen fed animals, phto-estrogenic foods like soya etc. I would urge you to relax and enjoy the carefree time while it lasts!
Avatar m tn PCOS can cause irregular menstruation such as you described. If you gain weight easily, over all your abdomen, have a more masculine body (such as more of a straight waist or rounded torso), and are excessively hairy, you probably have this. This is easily diagnosed with blood work (check for FSH/LH levels and DHEA levels). Endometriosis can cause you to have really long periods such as 7-8 days. Women with endo tend to have more estrogen.
Avatar f tn Hi, Dianette tablets contain estrogen (female hormone – similar to contraceptive pills) No one is certain what causes fibroadenomas. However,it is believed that estrogen sensitivity may play a role, because fibroadenomas develop during a woman's reproductive years and can increase in size during menstruation or pregnancy. Because you have multiple fibroadenomas in your breast, you should discuss with your doctor about this matter and see what he/she advises you. P.
Avatar n tn 1 When absorbed, DIM promotes estrogen metabolism to produce healthy and cancer-protective 2-hydroxy estrogens,2 and minimizes the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes,3 thereby reducing cellular inflammation. Activating these pathways encourages remarkable weight loss and hormonal balance and provides many other benefits towards healthy aging.

Avatar f tn s cycle to prepare the lining to receive and nourish a fertilized egg so it can develop into a fetus. If fertilization does not occur, estrogen and progesterone levels drop sharply, the lining of the uterus breaks down and menstruation occurs.
Avatar f tn Cysts are quite common and often occur with hormonal variation (including menstruation and hormone replacement therapy). Of course, lumpy breast tissue can also swell as a result of hormonal variation. If you are concerned, you should see your doctor for evaluation and he/she can order an ultrasound, if appropriate. Also, just so you are aware, “natural” hormone replacement has the same risks of estrogen exposure as “clinical” HRT. Estrogen is estrogen, whether it is from soy or the lab.

Avatar m tn I am 18 years old, my menstruation started at the age of 12, and has never been constant, but right now I do not have periods for about a year and a half. I live in Israel and had analysises that showed that I had nothing to worry about and I am totally all right. The gynecologist told me to come back in a half a year, but is it normal not to have periods for 2 years?
1110747 tn?1295844043 I read that “Early in your cycle, during and just after menstruation and prior to peak fertility when your estrogen level is low, your cervix is low, hard, firm and closed and easy to feel with your fingers. Your cervix lifts and straightens and becomes softer, higher and more open as your fertility (and the presence of estrogen) increases.” I don’t know about anyone else but I seem to be the opposite. During my ovulation period my cervix feels firmer.

Avatar m tn I recently was diagnosed with genital HSV-1 due to my boyfriend having oral HSV-1. I am on a very low estrogen birth control and am due to get my period in two weeks. Any advice? Avatar n tn Smoking is also often associated with secondary amenorrhea and can be worse in presence of stress. Sometimes tumors of the ovaries and brain may also cause absence of menstruation. Severe anemia and malnutrition, excess weight gain or weight loss, hypothyroidism too can contribute. If you have been on pills or depot shots then this can be post pill amenorrhea. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hi. During the second half of the menstrual cycle (after ovulation and leading up to menstruation), estrogen levels are higher in the woman's body. This results in retention of fluid in the breasts, and in the proliferation of the breast glands. If a mammogram were done at this time, the breasts may appear to be denser and contain areas which may mimic the appearance of a breast lump.

Avatar f tn Your blood test is so low that there is no possible way that you could be pregnant this far removed from the initial rendezvous and if you look up information on Plan B, you will find that those fall under listed side effects. It's a large dose of estrogen which throws hormones and you cycle all out of whack. I promise, you're in the clear.
Avatar n tn It was thought for many years that low body fat levels and exercise related chemicals (such as beta endorphins and catecholamines) disrupt the interplay of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone. However recent studies have shown that there are no differences in the body composition, or hormonal levels in amenorrheic athletes. Instead, amenorrhea has been shown to be directly attributable to a low energy availability.
