Avatar f tn absolutely love it i must say! But i was beginning 2 wonder about the mild acne im discovering! I believe its from estrogen imbalance because i've done some research and my doctor told me mirena has estrogen in it. Of course i didnt think too much of it because i didnt have acne before. I tried all types of acne products even proactiv..nothing seems to work for me...
Avatar f tn Estrogen-injected cattle, birth control pill residue in our rivers and lakes, rare side effects of steroid treatments, pseudo-estrogen from soy products, pseudo-estrogen from BPA in baby bottles and cans - nothing will ever be proven but there sure is a hormonal mess out there...
Avatar f tn think this one is a boy too!! Acne again, 11w3d. It has a lot to do with more estrogen or testosterone in your body. Are they pimples that you can pop, it hard zit type??
Avatar f tn My tests show I have low estrogen (also taking birth control pill), decreased cortisol in the morning and increased at night and elevated DHEA. I'm just baffled as to why I am sweating so much. Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed? I am taking natural supplements for my adrenals and might want to try HC but I have heard not so good stories about it. Are there natural adrenal meds or how should I go abouts treating it?
Avatar f tn I had other side effects from birth control so I decided to get off of it and the acne returned. I tried everything OTC for acne. I even tried proactive and it did nothing for me. So then I realized it was related to my hormones. I found a natural treatment. It's an herb called vitex fruit. It can take a couple of your cycles to take affect. It works by balancing your hormones naturally with your pituitary gland. It had natural estrogen properties.
Avatar f tn We have a solution! lol I got her those "seabands" you put on your wrists for nausea and THEY WORKED! We were stunned. She put them on and about 10 min later her nausea is gone! She takes the pill at night, unfortunately, I think she's among the 5% of women who get sick from it. But, I'm hoping once her body gets used to the pill (in 1 - 3 months) she won't be nauseated anymore. Until then, these bands are working a miracle here!
Avatar f tn I am taking estrogen pellets. That's a typo in my original message.
Avatar m tn What can be done for the extreme acne caused by all these hormonal issues. My daughter never really had acne in her life and recently tested with higher then normal testosterone which the doctor has attributed to this severe acne condition. We purchased proactive but she has a reaction to that. I just purchased Mario something or other and it doesn't seem to be working. any ideas?
Avatar m tn I've battled acne since 5th grade, and I'm just about to turn 21 now. Yesterday my dermatologist prescribed me 25mg Spironolactone 2xD and Tri-Sprintec BCP to help clear my skin up. I trust her judgement with placing me on both of those medications, but what worries me is that it may be too much of a hormone change for my body.
1070570 tn?1283436213 Do know that DHEA converts into testosterone OR estrogen and it is not your choice, and if you take too much DHEA, you will know it, you will get acne and your skin will get greasy. Some of my friends take less, some take more - I sometimes take less as I get acne. You can try a little of a reputable brand and see - but the tests it will impact are not so much thyroid but are the androgens.
Avatar n tn I am 24 and have had acne for years. I have tried everything, I mean EVERYTHING (including accutane twice!) and although at certain times it is more under control, it has never completely gone away. It was getting much better about a year ago but then I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have been taking levothyroxin for a couple of months now and the acne is back in full force. I am underweight for my age and height but have lots of problems with facial hair (way to much for a girl!
Avatar f tn i'm 18 weeks pregnant and i'd say for the past month month and a half i've had acne like a teenage girl going through puberty all over again. i never had problems with this when i was younger, why now? and any suggestions on how to help it?
Avatar f tn Hi. My fifteen year old son suffers from a bad case of acne. the dermatologist gave him a course of antibiotics which, unfortunately, did no good. She has said that he will need to take tetracycline in September which I am dubious about. My son gets depressed enough without the help of drugs. I have been wondering that since acne is a hormonal problem, would it be a good idea for me to take him to an endocrinologist or would this just cause another issue?
Avatar f tn As I've mentioned in my previous post, I have the strong feeling that I have a hormone imbalance. For 3 years, I've been overemotional/irritable/nervous, have had light/skipped periods, persistent acne,(I'm 20 and I don't feel like this should be happening), and hot flashes. These problems have gotten progressively worse over the years. The problem is though, that I feel like I have the symptoms of both estrogen dominance and estrogen deficiency.
Avatar f tn I use a rx spray estradiol. But, I thought my probs were due do estrogen dominance. (depression, facial hair growth, acne, high cholesterol, high insulin, weight gain upper body, too much testosterone, breast cysts and probably ovarian cysts). I lost 100 pounds from a gastric bypass but am still about 50 pounds overweight. Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but i get dark blotches on my face after an acne pimple has healed. I use neutrogena post-acne mark peel, which makes a visible difference after one use. The sun usually helps my spots, but I'm not sure if you're experiencing the same thing, so keep on using your sun block every day. Hope the doc answers your question soon.
Avatar f tn I don`t know about testosterone but I have red thast progesterone can up grade estrogen first month but it can get better later. i wonder if it is really true. In this case I would try it again and wait when estrogen will be reduced. I am afraid that it cause hot flashes, reflux and may cause breast tumors bc my grand mother, mother and sister have it.
Avatar m tn As I understand it, when one injects testosterone (lets say Testosterone Enanthate) the body converts (with an enzyme) the excess testosterone into estrogen. The pituitary gland also senses this huge influx of testosterone and sends a message to the testes in the form of Oestrogen to shut down the bodies natural production of testosterone.
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
Avatar f tn The herb Vitex (also know as Chase berry) is the treatment of choice in herbal medicine for both acne and irregular periods. Vitex will raise progestrone levels and balance estrogen. The other thing to try is beta sitosterol. It is the active agent in the herb saw palmento. It is a very good and extremely safe DHT blocker. DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is the cause of your facial hair growth and plays a huge part in the acne. It's likely you have a systemic yeast overgrowth as well.
Avatar n tn He said that my symptoms sounded like those you would see in a woman with estrogen and testosterone imbalances BUT based on his physical exam, it looked like my estrogen level (at least) was just fine. (Apparently my labia look like I have plenty of estrogen.) He thought it might be a thyroid problem of some sort so he ordered tests for estrogen, testosterone, progestin, TSH, FSH and LH...At least I am pretty sure that is the comprehensive list.
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
Avatar f tn Well, I am in my late 50s now and my chin is a mass of cystic acne. My levothyroxine dose was recently increased and so did my acne. It is really embarrassing being a professional health care worker trying to hide my cystic bumps with make up.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply again, Gimel. My face is clear now, it goes out of whack only when T4 dose is raised and they appear in painful cysts. My doctor raised my T4 when my TSH was high. I started with 25mcg, graduated to 50mcg(at which I don't get acne), but anything more 50mcg, I get acne immediately, I didn't connect it at the start, but within a month my face was full of cystic acne. I've got myself tested with all of the tests - My cortisol levels are 12 at 8 AM.
