I was on it a good few years, then put on citalopram with subsequent major weight gain. Then trazodone which gave me palpatations as did escitalopram and had problems with others too, and prozac gave me weight gain too. Been on antidepressants 16 years or more, trying herbal antidepressants but losing my battle as my depression extremely bad just now and my fast pulse and palpatations are returning.

Thanks, prozac and escitalopram and setraline never gave me weight gain but made my pulse race. I am now quite scared to try others. I was on 40mg citalopram for 12 years and put on over 3 stones with it in that time. I am trying a low dose 10mg to see if itll help me but not cause the weight gain.

Has anybody experienced weight gain with antidepressants? After taking these for 12 months I have gained 13kg? Now that I have stopped I have lost my appetite and I wonder if I will see a change as although my diet exercise and lifestyle did not change over the 12 months I feel as though this medication is the only contributing factor?

Has anyone taken Lexapro? If so, did you gain weight on it or experience other side effects? Did it give you motivation to do things again? My neuro doc prescribed it (10 mg) but I'm not sure if this is any good... Thanks!!

Be aware though, Mirtazapine does cause weight gain, and high blood pressure, I gained 40 lbs in 7 months, my bp went from normal to high range.

I have been lucky with the lack of weight gain from the medications. My weight gain was due to my own eating habits and lack of working out. Its easy to fix though, can you kick up your cardio and slim down the calorie intake for a bit and see if that helps?

Have you found it helpful and has it caused side effects such as weight gain and insomnia? I've heard it's a weight neutral antidepressant but the label says weight gain is one of the most frequent side effects.

with a heavy heart, and a heavier body, we decided to go back to the Paxil-- Because...besides the weight gain, how was my life? MUCH BETTER from at the very beginning. I should also mention that I took Clonazepam as needed during my adjustment periods of the new drugs...and I hardly took it, because I felt like it didn`t do anything. I guess my point is...that how the SSRI`s work is so individual, some work for some, and not for others at all. I have had great success with Paxil though...

I've had depression since childhood, and as of a few years ago I began developing some mild symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety does run in my family, but there's also been some question as to whether or not my sibling also has comorbid bipolar disorder. My previous doctor thought I may have bipolar 2, so she put me on escitalopram and lamictal.

Both medications carry a risk of weight gain but if you know this in advance you can take steps to reduce this. The weight tends to be "water weight", so drinking plenty can help along with the normal steps of regular exercise and watching your diet.

I feel really fine with the Divalproex and have no issues as such except the weight gain. Do you think I should look for a weight loss pill in the market and have that? i have recently been perscribed 10mg Escitalopram to treat my general anxiety disorder, as well as underlying depression i have, i was just wondering if anybody knoes of any herbal substances i can take along with the Escitalopram to help me sleep as at the moment my sleep pattern is all over the place, and it makes me feel lowsy all day , any herbal sleep enchancement tablets available from the pharmacy without perscription state to not take if you are on any type of anti depressant medication

I was also taking escitalopram (10) and resperidone (2 mg) since last few years. I have read that mostly everyone gaining weight while on these medications. I hope some one who have reduced their weight could comment on this. I have committed myself for a 25 kg weight reduction goal,for the next 20 months. Maybe by following a strict regimen of activities I could put off the weight i gained.

I've got purlex(escitalopram ) 5mg subscribed by my doc , and alprazolam 0.25 mg for panic attack , i was on zoloft for 1 day !!!!!but my doc stop it because i had a very strange side effects like tachycardia ,become nervous my doc said it was Serotonin syndrome ! so thats why he changed the zoloft to purlex(escitalopram ) , am very scared to take purlex :( and any one heard about deanxit ? can i use it for panic attack ? thank you .

Just wondering if anybody here has ever taken Domperidone and Escitalopram. It says in the Domperidone leaflet not to take the two medications together, and some quick research online says there is a severe interaction between the two medicines. Despite this my doctor has prescribed them both to me. 30mg of Domperidone a day + 20mg of Escitalopram a day. Should I consult with my doctor about this or will I be fine? Thanks in advance.
